I act impulsively very often, like tommorrow but I always get back to rational and logical thinking later. Sure, Kovalev is still a better boxer than Adonis and Stevenson KO of some bum doesn't mean nothing.
Adonis knocked out who? Some glass chinned bum.
Knocked out how? While taking some good clean shots to the head
But a fighter like Stevenson who got one punch KO power, that kind of fighter might lack skills, but he has a chance against any boxer out here - Beterbiev, Kovalev and even Ward with all his Mayweather-esque defense
I still think that Kovalev beats Adonis, but Stevenson got more chances against Ward than Kovalev because Kovalev doesn't have that 1 punch KO power - he needs to land clean combinations to lay down his opponent, while Adonis needs just an one solid clean shot.
Not in the least. Some of the shots that Chilemba absorbed would have floored both Williams and Stevenson.
Ward would toy with Stevenson. He doesn't have the sped, skill or reach to bother Ward.
When The Pimp can perform like that against Ward, Beterbiev, or anyone else that is a top 5 at 175 let me know. The Pimp would get all his sins cleaned by Kovalev, who would probably end him. I haven't forgotten that The Pimp changed manager, and network when the fight was all but signed. All his opponents since then have sucked.
It's ludicrous to say that after Stevenson beats a green dude (although in impressive fashion) he has a chance to beat Kovalev. I've got all my points on Kovalev easily within 10 rounds when the fight happens, Kovalev is too good a boxer and hits harder than Stevenson + he has better ring generalship.
He is the lineal champion. Kovalev and Ward are 2 and 3.Some fans like yourself place great importance on being the lineal champ. Other fans like myself think being lineal champ is usually meaningless BS. especially when the lineal champ won't fight the best fighter in their weight class. Martinez, Cotto and Canelo are good examples of three lineal champs who all played keep away from GGG when he was clearly the best middleweight. Hell, Spinks was the lineal heavyweight champ for years until Tyson got him in the ring and blasted him out in less than 60 seconds. Boxrec has Kovalev number 1 and Stevenson number 2 and that's how it should be. Kovalev is at or near the top of most pound for pound top ten lists while Stevenson isn't even on most lists.
it could turn out that main events will be more willing to make concessions if kovalev loses his titles
to me, kovalev-stevenson won't lose any of its lustre even if ward completely outboxes sergey. it's just such a perfect recipe for violence that it doesn't need titles or a P4P spot on the line to make it appetising
You're right about this, but the prestige is the icing. When was the last time we got a unification bout between two punchers that are legitimately top 3 in their division? It feels so uncommon nowadays to even have punchers/brawlers at the top of their divisions.
If Kov beats Ward and Adonis beats Alvarez, Kov/Adonis HAS to happen. The only the fight could get any bigger than that is if Adonis played Russian Roulette against Beterbiev.
which is unfortunate tbh. This is the first time in the Stevenson/Kovalev "marination" process that I've felt concerned. I'm picking Ward to win, but I've never wanted a prediction to be wrong this much.

None of it matters. In a few months, the power punching light heavy's will not be #1 and #2 of the division, instead they will be #2 and #3

All these dumbasses voted Stevenson :lol1: did you not watch the same fight as the rest of us last night? Williams was landing power punches left and right... If it was Kovalev doing the throwing Stevenson would be tasting the canvas
^ This pretty much

Stevenson is ripe for the picking, he was never amazing but is washed up now. Apparently Haymon told him to go on a break to be fresh for this fight and he still got hit alarmingly often, good offensive variety though, usually he's a lot more straight left hand heavy.
Haymon will probably feed him to Beterbiev soon
Looked like shi.t against Chilemba...and will get whipped badly by Andre Ward.
Chilemba was never knocked down and is super hard to box and look good. But what do you know?
I love seeing Kovalev losing on the poll, ha ha, damn!
Lol were you really refreshing till Stevenson took a 1point lead, that made your day? You sad thing
I just don't see anything great about stevenson. I think kovalev destroys him. And at least ward and kovalev is supposedly happen. That's a big fight. Stevenson is fighting himself into obscurity. He ran to haymon when him and kovalev were on a collision cause.
And didn't kovalevs promoter pull out of the purse bid because she knew she couldn't win and kovalev has a contract with hbo so he can't fight on a different network. Think that's what the reasoning behind that was.
