In the coming months the following fights will be taking place:
Kell "The Special One" Brook Vs Gennady "God of War" Golovkin
Carl "The Jackal" Frampton Vs Leo "El Terremoto" Santa Cruz
Liam "Beefy" Smith Vs Saul "Canelo" Alvarez
Regardless of the narratives being offered by some who.....
a) Want to belittle said fights in an attempt to further their own agenda of worshiping their chosen hero
b) Underestimate some of the above fighters through ignorance or
c) Truly believe these fights above to be uncompetitive cherry picks against smaller lesser men(Frampton very much less so)
I believe them to be competitive fights. In fact I think we may see a real change of the guard in boxing. Some think Kell is crazy, I however believe he is exactly as his nickname suggests and that is a special fighter. Frampton's stamina and chin have been questioned recently and many seem to think that Leo will expose this, I think he's already beaten a better fighter in Quigg. Smith has been called the weak link in the division and outright a bum, I think he a VERY intelligent fighter with deceptive power.
So I'm going on record, yeah I know they are all close fights if not downright steep hills to climb. But I'm predicting upsets in all of them. And if I'm wrong about them all?? How funny would that be :)
P.S Try not to get the usual Canelo/GGG argument going please....it's happening in many other threads, doesn't need to happen here.
I was looking at Smith and thinking he has a good shot here then I came to the realisation this fight is in Texas.
You already know that d*ckhead Cole is going to be referee. If Smith dares get on top I'm fully expecting some WWE type sh*t and Cole to hit Smith with a steel chair.
Haven't seen Smith fight at all so I won't comment on it but Smith looks like he's two weight classes smaller than canelo from some of the highlights I've seen.
Brook I saw like twice and I don't see what your seeing. He doesn't do anything better than ggg and I dont his power is gonna affect ggg at all. Ggg took some clean shots from big punchers like lemieux and Stevens and it didn't even phase him so I'm not sure what Kell can do.
I'm surprised at what happened last night with lsc Frampton. I think frampton caught lsc early and it made him tentative the rest of the fight because I don't remember lsc punch output that low ever so kudos to Frampton for controlling the pace of the fight. I had the fight on mute and I had lsc winning but I was ok with either decision just because half of lsc punches were like arm slaps. If lsc actually knew how to box that fight wouldn't even have been close because he have all the tools to be a good one. I think it's time to get a new trainer.
Fun thread to read so far without all the ggg or canelo hate. You don't happen to be from the UK? You seem bias towards them.
Do you still see a size difference after the press conferences?
Lemieux is only half an inch taller than Brook and Stevens is smaller, I feel like Brook delivers his power better than both and once they weigh as MW's then that's all that matters. I think if Kell landed the same shots Lemieux did on Rosado the same thing would happen if not worse.
Frampton did the same to Quigg, it's the same thing Rigo and Floyd do, he creates fear with his counters and lowers your output, great performance but I feel he could do one better. I think's it's just a shame that people can possible score that fight for Santa Cruz.. he was out boxed and out fought, it was close but clear.
No I'm from Ireland, and before you say it Frampton is from Northern Ireland(different country) and is the first "Irish" fighter I've ever supported. I actively try to battle any biases I may have, for example I happily admit Frampton ducked Rigo.

Really not in the mood to break Smith down as a fighter right now, Lets just say I think he will be competitive in the least.
You can't break him down, not against top quality opposition anyway as he hasn't fought anyone with a pulse.
dont rule out saunders beating canelo. Actually do rule it out cause he will never ever get a decision against him
I think we saw the limitations of SUnders versus Eubanks and he was fortunate Cris started very late. I don't rate BJS at all highly, it's a better fight than Smith at 154 though and a step in the right direction.
I've seen more crooked judging in the UK than the States, in fact I feel it is commonplace, I don't buy the UK is better than Germany or the States I feel it is considerably worse, of course this is just my opinion, but these Warren cards and Hearn leave a lot to be answered for at times.
Something was hugely amiss for that 114-114 card for PBF and Canelo, no mistakes there. Boxing can be shady and suspicion follows Canelo, I felt the cards for Lara were perfect though, although I questioned the Cotto cards too. The WBC has a large part to play in those bent cards, they're out of the picture now, we'll see I trust Oscar no more either.
Whilst on the subject of cards does anyone feel Haymon fights, PBC especially are in no way dodgy in the least ? Someone remakes the other day he was corrupt but I see Haymon just gets his men another shot so hasn't the need to influence anyone or anything one iota.
I'm not writing off Smith's chances entirely, I just don't give him a particularly high chance. He's had no experience to suggest he will do well against a world class opponent who will not only be weighing in excess of 175+ he's facing an experienced pro in Cameltoè.
I'm not even hating that much on this fight, he's a title holder and usually deservingly so when they hold a title. Taking nothing away from him but who has he fought to suggest he has a chance, and what did he do to suggest he has ? Smith for his worth has no experience IMO.
Cameltoè ain't no pushover and I ain't suggesting Smith is either, I just find it increasingly difficult to get excited over this fight.

Smith Vs Saunders will be the fight after the upset takes place :)
Well this is his chance to prove it. I didn't think Canelo looked world class up until the trout fight... Smith hasn't been coddled in the same way and is been thrown in the deep end, that can't be a knock on him. I think he's smart and that is his biggest asset in this fight.

I cant answer that question cause he hasnt beaten anyone notable but now hes got his chance. has looked pretty good in his career so far, looks like a solid fighter, as i said i dont think he will be good enough to beat canelo but dont think he will be an easy nights work.
It's a poor fight, to think it is ppv is a joke. But as is expected Saunders will face Carmeltoe in December, Warren appears to be Oscar's go to guy this half of the year. Maybe it was part of the deal, who cares, it brings Cameltoè one step closer to 160 though I expect their wil be a CW for Saunders of no more than 157.
I dont buy that, I scored the fight to Canelo over Lara, the Cotto fight I believe was a draw. He was one of PBF's easier wins, the fight was a dud, I found it difficult giving him a round.
Again, I'll ask who has Liam Smith fought and looked so convincing against at world level ? I can answer it for you but I won't as I would like to hear who you believe he has soundly beaten and looked world class against ? Don't answer the question with a question.

canelos not some invincible elite fighter, his best win is against the dragged up corpse of miguel cotto, and dont think he looked exceptional there. Lara beat him imo, canelo was one of mayweathers easiest ever wins and the trout fight was very competitive. Dont think liam smiths amazing but dont think hes much worse than canelo.
I can't help but hold anyone with Golovkin in their avatar with disdain, it instantly sets me in the mood of 'I'm dealing with a fan boy here', I find it difficult to have a conversation with anyone who is biased in their judgement against a said fighter which obviously you have against Canelo with an avatar like your own.
At no point have I claimed Canelo is an invincible elite boxer, just because I pick Canelo does not automatically make me a Canelo fan, I'm a boxing fan. I am a fan of competitive fights, not one sided beat downs.

Frampton won as expected, only fan boys voted for Cruz.
Who has Smith fought at what could be considered world level ? He's out of his depth massively, Canelo ain't no slick super skilled boxer but he's more than skilled enough to beat Smith and he'll have no issues over coming Smith, the guy comes in like a freakin light heavy fight night, Smith will get hurt.
Golovkin versus Brook is not in the least competitive.
well you were right about the jackal and i was wrong. I think brooks going to do a lot lot better than people think about GGG but cant see him winning it. And think smith will do well against canelo but cant see him winning that either
No biggie, people were just sleeping on Carl.
I think Brook-GGG looks exactly like the fight we saw last night tbh....Including GGG being hurt early. Frampton just proved size isn't the deciding factor in a fight.
Smith is the hardest one IMO because he needs a KO or they will rob him, I think he can do it though.
Telling the truth is telling the truth you'd have a legitimate chance of seeing GGG dethroned If the Eubanks weren't a shameful family with no sense honour.
One person complains Brook doesn't have a chance yet he has Eubank Jr on his sig lol.
Yes and it's all been said and neither side has any intention of actually listening to the other. I'm happy with GGG-Brook, and I'm more than happy if it's cancelled and GGG/Eubank and Brook/Vargas are announced in it's place, so just keep it out of my threads, PLEASE.
Look.....We've heard it all. Stop the crusade or you'll just be put on ignore for my threads.

Too bad the useless dope in your sig had to have seconds thoughts about fighting GGG this is the only reason Brook has got this fight thanks to that shameless coward who was all bark and no bite, coward.

indeed
TS thinks brook will knock GGG out
he's a delusional crack head

Frampton could've gotten outboxed by Rigo for 12 rounds or he could've gotten KO'd by LSC in 5 rounds. The LSC fight is a tougher fight. I don't see this going the distance and I don't see how taking a tougher fight moving up a weight class is ducking Rigo.
I'll have to see about Smith. Not really sure how good he is. But he got an easy route to the title due to Andrande and his management messing up and the WBO mysteriously dropping Trout from the rankings and inserting him after the Smith vs. Thompson fight was ordered
Brook-GGG is a severe mismatch. People won't be convinced until after the fight. Then everybody will agree that was a fight that should never had been made. This fight will do more harm than good for GGG's reputation. After the way people see him demolish a man moving up two weight divisions he's going to be viewed as a bully afraid to move up. I can't convince people who already have their minds made up but trust me, this fight is going to do more harm than good.
One down/ Two to go.
