So, Kovalev fanboys, what to say now? If CHILEMBA could give Kovalev all of this trouble, then just imagine what horrible things Ward will do to him. It was already obvious before, but if it isn't obvious NOW that Ward will make Kovalev look like an amateur, then anyone who still believes that Kovalev stands a chance should be labelled and remembered as idiots when the fight is over for ever thinking anything as stupid as Kovalev having a chance in Hell at beating an ATG like Ward. Ward and Kovalev are at different levels.
Hahaha, the stupidity on the first page of this thread is epic.
The OP is the dumbest boxing "expert" ever :))
I agree with your first statement, but have to disagree with the second. There are plenty of "experts" just as dumb as him at this place.
chilemba was getting the jab threw ward would exploit that, but i dont feel ward has the power to hurt kovo but kovo has the power to hurt him. Had the fight 8-4 kovo and a extra point for the kd its a solid win but ward is def gonna fight him seeing that jab get in like that it will be a unpredictable fight.
Anyone who has watched Chilemba in the past should have known this would be tough for Kovalev, but the guy still hurt Chilemba and won around 8-9 rounds.
Ward is a better defensive fighter than Chilemba and better on the inside, he'll win in an ugly, close fight.
This is like saying, "If Ward struggled so much with Bika, how could he hope to beat Kovalev?"
This is so true. Fighters will struggle with some people. Chilemba is a solid contender and would give anyone trouble. Let's not pretend Ward hasn't had close fights. KOv still knocked him down and had a clear but close win. This prepares him perfectly for Ward. I expect them both to be in full form. :boxing:
No1 expected Chilemba to give Kovalev thus much trouble so let's stop right there. Kovalev didn't look invincible and while that's not a bad thing, it's not a good thing either. Ward vs. Kov is certainly a 50/50 fight. I've had Ward from day one, and that's not changing at all. Especially if this fight goes the distance, I think Ward's class will begin to show.
OP's a troll. People knew going into this fight Chilemba's durability would push Kovalev to go rounds and that's what happened. Good fight for Kovalev.
Now all the experts will turn on Krusher and pick Ward. You guys are something else I tell ya...— Stephen Edwards (@BreadmanBoxing) July 11, 2016
This is like saying, "If Ward struggled so much with Bika, how could he hope to beat Kovalev?"
Not really, Ward wasn't getting punched in the face at will like Kovalev. Ward never looked completely lost in the first 6 rounds nor was he getting outboxed
Chilemba's a real contender and much better than anyone Ward's fought in the last four years. He flies under the radar because he's not a puncher or a flashy fighter and he's been blatantly robbed in key fights, but he's fundamentally sound and ridiculously difficult to catch clean.
Anyone who thought Kovalev was walking through this guy in a few rounds has seen little of Chilemba.
"Are you new to boxing or just stupid? Kovalev is a just a passionate guy who punches very hard. Ward is boxing at its absolute peak level. His speed and skills will make Kovalev look like a retard."
You are just blatantly bias and most likely don't know much at all about boxing. Kovalev dropped and almost stopped chilemba, the bout was competitive here and there but chilemba was nearly stopped twice. Ward looked worse against barrera who is not the level of competition Chilemba is. Ward could barely keep Barrera of him and looked vulnerable.
Well, then let me tell you the reason behind the big upset that is to come:
1 - Pacquiao no longer got any power. He isn't stopping anyone and Broner's chin is proven. His only hope of beating Broner is to storm him and outpunch him.
2 - Broner might have an inferior defense to Mayweather, but people shouldn't talk like Broner's defense is horrible. Maidana broke through Mayweather's defense too and to be honest, I think that Mayweather too would be bothered by Porter (he would win, though). Broner's defense is an inferior version to Mayweather's, but Pacquiao is gonna have to be on it constantly if he wants to win this and it's not gonna be easy.
3 - Broner got underrated power. More power than Mayweather. Just ask Shawn Porter. Pacquiao got a fragile chin and is getting old. His rushing style will make him run into something big against Broner. There's a reason why Pacquiao has fought no serious punchers in a while and the only semihardhitter he fought put him into a coma.
So, you now know what Pacquiao has to do, why it's gonna be hard for him to do it and why he, when pushing himself, is gonna go down in the proces. Broner wins.
Okay, thanks for the insights. I still would bet on Pac though (got my own reasons, if u wanna know just ask lol). But hey, each to their own.
OP you're a goober. Kovalev is one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport, don't try to downplay how good he is so that when Dre beats you can go "yeah he beat Kovalev but Kovalev ain't that good so it don't really matter"
Get that nonsense outta here son. Dre is moving up to fight an actual killer that's ranked #2 P4P. Give Dre his props. If Ward wins that secures himself as a HOF fighter and one of the 10 greatest of all time.
That's the only one (or two) i don't agree with lol. I don't know much about Usyk as he's still fresh, but I'm also not a big fan of AJ (in terms of the hype) but he has shown a few things in recent fights. I would be hesitant on that one. The rest are all good though. Maybe I would predict the methods of victory of one or two differently but at least they are sensible. I guess you make money at the bookies too? I study fights cause it's basically how I get paid lol. That's why I wanted to know about the Broner thing.
