Canelo vs Golovkin fell through. Instead we got Canelo vs Khan and Golovkin vs Brook. Fights nobody asked for. Funny thing is both guys ended last year strong - Canelo with Cotto and Golovkin with Lemieux.
Wilder vs Povetkin fell through. Instead we got Wilder vs Arreola and Povetkin vs Wilder in court instead of the ring.
All hopes are on Ward vs Kovalev to deliver. Ward has been fighting some very poor competition building up to it and Kovalev isn't doing a whole lot better so a lot is riding on this fight.
Will 2016 go down as a black mark in boxing history? It has certainly been further proof that the sport is becoming less and less fan friendly and focusing too heavily on business behind the scenes.
Not true. Povetkin, HBO, Canelo and lil g are the ones bullsh*tting this year. Boxing is bad this year for their fans. But for the fans of boxing in general, this is a good year for boxing.
Hold up tho. Give the fighters that are delivering their props
Crawford/Postol
Thurman/Porter
Ward/Kovalev
Frampton/LSC & Quigg
Jack/DeGale is in the works
Very true. I messed up on the title of this thread, so that's on me.
It's mostly about what Canelo and GGG have done this year by not only depriving boxing fans of the biggest fight right now but also going on to fight guys much smaller than them in fights no one wants to see.
