Team Canelos plan is kind of like what Mayweather did to Pacquaio. By the time they fight GGG will be pushing 36 and Canelos only hope is that he gets lucky and that happens to be the fight where GGG gets old. Canelo will still be in his prime though. Maybe because GGG has not taken a lot of punishment in his career and has not fought a ton of rounds then maybe this won't happen. I would feel a lot better though if they fought this fall versus next fall or even spring 2018. Canelo know GGG is his second loss waiting to happen and he's going to hold out as long as he can. He does not need no damn tune up.fights at middleweight. The dude comes in fight night as a light heavyweight so that BS excuse has to stop.
I cant stop laughing at that GIF....dude got hops though KMSL
Yeah had to make that gif. lol When the ref turns around after dude falls through the ropes.
What this really is, is a preemptive excuse from a hardcore ggg fan who is worried that if ggg fights Canelo in a year or two, that ggg might lose and OP's trying to plant the seed in people's minds that it will not be a legit win.
As long as GGG stays undefeated at Middleweight it should be a legit win IMO. GGG would probably still be the betting favorite two years down the road if this is so.
I'm giving an unbiased opinion on why they're doing what they're doing.
LOL @ you giving an unbiased opinion on anything related to Golovkin. You are utterly obsessed with the f*cking guy. The level of butthurt you have towards him is hilarious.
I'd hate to hear what you think about everyone elses choice of opponent. The man literally had the toughest schedule of any fighter in the past 10 years
Proof is in the pudding.
He mustve beat a fighter you like a lot.
dude literally fought world class opposition and current, future or former champions every fight since 2005
you gotta be truthful and realistic before posting stuff like that
In the last 10 years?
He didn't fight Trout 10 years ago
Wtf you talking about?
never said it gave him an experience advantage
Im making it clear that its stupid to accuse an older fighter with more fights to be waiting on a younger guy with less fights to get old.....
Ooooh ok. I thought you were saying that Floyd was a far more experienced fighter than Pac or something along those lines.
I understand you clear my bad.
I think Canelo wins now. GGG is way easier to read in attack than Cotto and slower yet Canelo was able to time Canelo with scary effectiveness. GGG's jab will be so ineffective against Canelo I find it hilarious when people bring it up.
Though I still favor ggg in that fight, you make good points and I think Canelo is entirely capable of taking it. People seriously undervalue how clever Canelo is at setting traps. They completely overlook it because he doesn't look "slick".
IMO, Cotto has a similar but better jab than Golovkin. Golovkin will do well in making Canelo uncomfortable and stifling his game by constantly putting him in dangerous positions. But, anyone who pretends Canelo couldn't ko ggg is fooling themselves. This could definitely end in a number of ways.
Floyd had 9 more fights total than Manny Pacquiao (amateur + pro)
That doesn't give Mayweather an experience advantage if any at all.
If you're saying that Mayweather was the older fighter and that it is ridiculous to think that he waited for Pac to get old then I agree.
never said it gave him an experience advantage

doesnt change the fact that floyd is older and had more total fights...amatuer and pro
did more training and fighting in his lifetime
fought consistently on a world class level longer
Claiming an older guy waited for a younger guy to be shot is utterly ridiculous and one of the dumbest comments i've seem in a long time
Proof is in the pudding...this is what roach had to say.....everyone has an opinon...i prefer the facts...the truth hurts and just because it doesn't support your agenda doesnt mean you can act like it never happened

Manny had 64 amateur fights (60-4) and was on the Philippine national boxing team who paid his room and board.

I think its more that they want Canelo to get better and bigger before fighting GGG more so than GGG getting old overnight.
GGG is not getting old by next year. He doesnt take that much punishment.
bro Freddie Roach admitted drug testing cut off dates killed the first negotiations...both parties were willing to fight they just had things they couldnt agree on
where you been? under a rock
How can a fighter thats older with more mileage on his body be waiting for a fighter to get old....Manny had no amayuer career while floyd had almost 100 amatuer fights and 49 pro fights
More like Manny agreed to fight when the IRS came knocking at his front door and he need the money

well then what kind of development is it?
talents and skills are different things. the basic components of talent in boxing are your chin, your power, and your speed. you bring those to the sport. they're developed, not taught. canelo's not going to get markedly faster, have a markedly better chin, or markedly better power. in that sense he is fully developed.
are you talking about his skills?
again, he's been in there with floyd mayweather, ffs. lara, too. the guy is a fringe pound for pounder. and he needs to develop his skills to fight golovkin because of his size... when he's bigger than golovkin on fight night by about 5 lbs?
there's no reasonable excuse for canelo needing to wait for golovkin to develop. he's fighting a guy of his size, and he's one of the most experienced guys in boxing right now. 50 fights. been in there with cotto, mosley, floyd, lara, trout, kirkland, angulo. he's experienced size damn near golovkin's skills and experience that surpas golovkin's
there's no legitmate excuse to push this fight off, unless you're playing accountant for GBP and protecting their assets.
no develiopment is needed. canelo's bugger than golovkin. fought more experienced guys. he's got more fights and rounds than golovkin, FFS. kid has 50 fights, and he'll be 26 in a week.
you're drinking the coolaide if you really think canelo's "not edeveloped." he's "not that good, and will probably get kncoked out and get a piece taken from him" is the translation of GBP rhetoric
Now you're being a child, which sucks because you used to be one of the best posters here. Yes, I feel that a 26 year old who shows constant improvement is still developing.
No, I'm not making excuses for him, I'm stating what I think his strategy is. I'd love to see those two fight. But, I think they want him to develop more as a fighter before taking on the dominant champ in the next weight class up. You act like you're debating a Canelo fan. I'm giving an unbiased opinion on why they're doing what they're doing.
And, you're incorrect about Canelo having more experience as Golovkin's huge amateur background can't be ignored.
You seem to have centered that argument around the idea that I think the "development" is physical and that I'm a Canelo fan looking to defend the guy. Neither is correct.
I think they want him to develop his talents as larger fighters (larger than the ones he's been fighting) are of course going to be more challenging.
I've consistently said it was stupid for Canelo to acquire the MW belts and even entertain talks about fighting at MW because I didn't think he was going to fight as a true MW for a while. Why Canelo is waiting to go up to 160 is debatable but the TS said Golovkin is going to suddenly fade when he turns 35, then Canelo will pounce. FFS, when did we abandon all logic here?

And, a 50 year old man to go down two weight classes, stating that Hop did it for years and he's extremely healthy so there is no reason why he couldn't (multiple people here said that to me, no joke).
Of course. How could I forget?
what?
he's physically bigger than golovkin, in his physical prime. he's not a prospect, FFS. not being ready is not an excuse when you're arguably p4p, have wins over trout, lara, cotto, and have fought the best p4p fighter on the planet and have the lineal MW championship
this hatred needs to stop :lol1:
they created a new f#cking weight class to avoid the biggest fight in boxing. then they dropped the lineal MW title, one of hte most sacred in boxing, that can be traced back to the great, great bernard hopkins.
if you really think the kid needs to develop, don't have him say "we don't f#ck around" on national TV, and tell golovkin ot stay by his phone. GBP brought this on themselves. they're ducking the biggest fight in boxing, and it has nothing to do with preparedness. they just don't want their biggest asset in there with a much better fighter, with life changing power, who works for another promotor.
GBP just doesn't want their prized, young, massive earner taking an L and getting beat up.
You seem to have centered that argument around the idea that I think the "development" is physical and that I'm a Canelo fan looking to defend the guy. Neither is correct.
