At cruiser a 9-10 at the heavy division a 7-8. He was more about combination work and attrition than one shot power. He had very good technique and good accuracy too along with a high punch rate.
Ray
I would rate his post Riddick Bowe III punching power a seven since he was a undersized blown up Heavyweight who were challenging naturally larger and stronger opponents than himself.
About a 6-7 at the elite level. Against lesser foes, 7-9.
And by way, one of my favorite fighters of all time. He was so fun to wtach, and brought it every single time. A way past his prime Wander was able to give Lennox all he could handle, and then some, and even won the 2nd fight. True ATG.
Seven,a good solid puncher who had trouble k.oing the bigger 225 plus guys, but the higher one goes statistically they get less knock outs. bowe/Tyson and foreman were hard to hurt and he did,he also has a knock down on mercer but that was more or less Mercer taking a knee to avoid other shots.
His lead headbutt did great damage vs. Tyson.
Probably six, but he was a great boxer. Probably like Ali. Maybe hit a little harder thanali
Ali power is underrated imo.
I think he just didn't put mustard on it a lot.
But Ali can hurt you.
Seven is about right. Holyfield was a grinder. Plus he threw great combinations and fought at a torrid pace. Was intelligent. Not the type to one-punch KO you early but the type to take you into deep waters and drown you.
Never a one punch guy but his shots had a lot of steam on them.
I remember when Holyfield beat the living day lights out of Pinklon Thomas, every punch looked and sounded hurtful.
