Would he have gone down as the #1 boxer of this generation, or would Floyd's overall resume still have placed him ahead of Manny? (And let's say there was never a rematch, not even in this hypothetical scenario.)

What if women walked around naked all the time...
and if you wanted to you could feel their titties and asses all the time...just like that.
And what if wanted to have sex with them and you could just bend them over and bone them...they'd never say no and just let you.
And what if they'd give you money afterwards and you'd never have to work.
Eh...what if it was like that?
You basterd, you made me happy for a split second imagining that
keep fighting the good fight clown.....dont be upset because you let the media and your dislike of a person cloud logic and better judgement. Manny literally had no game plan.....the same old thing isnt gonna work with an ATG....levels to this and manny wasnt on the level the media and his fans was pumping up to be.....great fighter just not top 10 all time or best in his era, nothing wrong with that
Dude you obviously didn't get my post
Floyd retired while Manny was moving up 1, 2, 3 divisions.
Floyd could have fought, Williams, Martinez, undefeated Cotto, Manny in 2010, younger versions of Mosley, ....
Floyd called out Winky then when Winky accepted everything including CWs, rehydration clauses and all, Floyd hides. Sorry but we all know Floyd didn't want to fight Margarito. You call it what you want but Floyd admitted to it.
Fights a green version of Canelo at a CW which kills Canelo's sole advantages.
Removes Maidana's gloves and then gets his preferred judges and refs.
I can think of many fighters ahead of Berto as his last fight. If you look back, several of his fights were related to Berto and who beat Berto. That was enough to get a Floyd fight.
.
sure act oblivious to arum not wanting cotto to fight him in 05-08...well you proably wasnt watching boxing then
in 06 mosley " needed a vacation, had a tooth ache"
in 07 margarito lost to paul williams who was a prospect...no wins over ww a top ten ww at the time.... he killed his shot
williams killed his momentum by losing to wholly average carlos quintana...yea williams was gonna beat the best pure boxer that size but couldnt win a decision over a guy levels below.....he brought nothing to the table and by the end of 08 was at 154 and up
i can do the same thing with manny
shouldve couldve worldve dont proof nothing
its about what they actually did and mayweather was more dominant
so while your hero was fighting bradley who was moving up the first time, he couldnt have fought a top ten ww?
how about when he fought algieri and rios?
the only top ten ww this man has fought in the last few years is Bradley.
the guy been at 147 since 2008 and did not fight Berto, Ortiz, Maidana, fought mosley after 2+ years without a win at 147, fights marquez cause he thought he washed up and gets KTFO, he couldve fought
he literally fought at 147 while fighting junior welterweights
fought margarito in a divison neither were ranked, at a catchweight for a vacant belt....oh wow so ground breaking.
what happened at lightweight? he fought david diaz...a no name...former olympian, but never was as a pro in a divison that had nate campbell, zahir raheem, acelino freitas, juan diaz, etc....yea he fought a monster in diaz bwahahahahahahaha
face it man....after manny moved past 140 most of his opponents were not true legit welterweights or they were coming off bad losses in their fight prior or the one before that
keep the smoke and mirrors bro...get used to manny being second best...its ok
Premise?
What about showing me what Floyd did in round 3? Or is it that you did and came back with blanks? :lol1:
and what would you have said if Manny won but was caught doing something that was banned?
Would you still be saying the below? If so then why did we have to wait 5 years for this fight???:
"The fight was scored based on what happened in the ring."
why do I need to show you a round in a fight we both saw already? Nothing has changed from the fight. Manny lost the round IMO and ITO of the majority of people that watched the fight. YOu are just giving it to Manny because you are trying to poke holes in the loss.
Floyd wasn't caught doing anything that was banned. Had Manny won, depending on how the fight went, I would've likely been upset then let it go.
We had to wait 5 years because Bob/Manny wanted to delay the loss as long as they could. Had Manny won, depending on what happened, then I might have argued he waited until Floyd looked terrible against Maidana to fight him for a while then I'd have let it go.

could you think of better opponents for pacquiao recently than rios and algieri...how about the entire welterweight top ten....
Do you think you would have seen a different fight if the ref called out the holding, head locks, .... I think so. Often when Manny wanted to do something, Floyd did something illegal. I would have preferred Floyd figure out how to box his way out not hug!
So if the ref did his job, you would have seen more than just Floyd's synchronized hugging!
Slow mo is good sometimes. Or at least rewatching. We all miss something the first time for various reasons. Example, talking to friends, family, ..... or just missed it.
Look at the round by round analysis I gave Spoon23. I mentioned the ref should have taken a point for holding or excessive pushing with elbows.
Your premise is retarded. The fight was scored based on what happened in the ring. Manny simply didn't fight hard. He tried to outbox floyd and failed, same as Canelo.

I am a big fan of $$, my wallet. Castillo beat Floyd, Maidana was close, but PAC? No way.
Floyd beat PAC, no anniliation at all. It was more of an Olympic fencing match, and I hate fencing. I hate it more than synchronized swimming!
I don't do slow motion, ever.

not when you have a fighter who does undefeated and had been a champion since 1998 sorry bro...stop reaching.
Mayweather also had more title defenses and beat more champions....didnt need a million rematches because he was dominant in most of his fights
"riskier" or someone you WANTED to see him fight....is it the Margarito was a beast crap....dude lost to every elite fighter he faced. Easy work...dude was slow as crap with a good chin and stamina and rudimentary skills on the elite level. Thats why lost to a prospect in williams, no names earlier in his career and couldnt even get by daniel santos.....yea he was monster lol

As a Mexican, I was disappointed with Canelo. I expected more, but honestly, Canelo admitted Floyd is the best he ever faced, Marquez too, Castillo too. None
made excuses.
PAC, well........
It depends on how you look at it. Manny vs Floyd was more of a technical fight that Maidana nor Castillo can do. Castillo and Maidana were hit cleaner and more often than Manny was.
Looking back at it, the approach Manny's team took was wrong. They should have known that they would give all the close rounds to Floyd.
Its normal that the fans of the one who lost a close fight will look for ways to prove a wrong. Either by way of slow-mo, ref, judges and so on. Its not about any fan base because they all do it. Go check back and all the threads about Floyd's poor performance against Castillo. Floyd and his fans to this day blame it on injuries. Now the same Floyd and his fans say differently when it comes to Manny's injuries.
If you are a fan of an athlete, there is usually some or a lot of bias. Its normal but you can tell when they exaggerate their point. Again, if you said Floyd won, no problem but he didn't win big. If you read some of his fans posts, its like he annihilated Manny :lol1:

Its all about perception as far as people who watched the fight. Fans expected more from Manny but not from Floyd. So if Manny did just as much as Floyd or similarly for any given round, they automatically thought that Manny didn't do enough to win the round. BUT DID FLOYD???? Well my point is that the question needs to be asked of both not just to Manny.
Be objective and show me why you think Floyd won round 3 and Manny did not deserve to win the round. I think I'm making a fair statement. Its easy to say but I would like you to prove it to me.
conspiracy?
- Dave Moretti is Floyd's go to judge. He has judged like 9 of his last 11 fights.
- What happened to refs and judges that Floyd didn't like? Where is CJ Ross? Did Weeks get to ref Floyd again?
Bayless admitted that he was ready going into the Maidana fight to deduct points. What about Floyd's known elbows? Why wasn't Bayless ready to deduct Floyd?
- USADA approves a banned method after the fact? You would be calling the athlete out if you knew that he basically lives around 146-150 and then says he was severely dehydrated. That is a lie and you know it! :lol1:
- NSAC: Investigate Manny but what about Floyd?
.

I've seen the fight. Floyd won round 3. Manny didn't nor did he deserve to.
Your basic premise is make rounds close that weren't so you can argue preferential treatment being the reason the judges gave Floyd the round. Problem is, objective media people scoring the fight, even those that hate Floyd, scored the fight as the judges did.
So were they involved in whatever conspiracy you hint at with the judges?

Compared to Castillo and Maidana, who actually did more, PAC failed to bring it.
But, each fight is it's own unique event. I try my best to not think of other fights, just the one in front of me. I posted my round by round break down for spoon23, PAC lost.
Do you agree that slow motion is a sword that cuts two ways?
PAC loses and t@rds wants slow motion. He wins a close fight, t@rds not posting slow motion.
But, they are not biased right?

What's with these "What if" threads? What if...you stop fantasizing about what didn't happen, and deal with what has happened?
Excellent!!! Excellent Post.
Awesome. Simple yet elegant logic.
That is likely part of it.
IMO, losing the way he did supports the theory that Bob/Manny kept refusing the fight because this was always going to be the outcome. It goes back to something Lou DiBella said:
http://www.examiner.com/article/lou-dibella-says-floyd-mayweather-would-destroy-manny-pacquiao
he had been around mayweather since he was a teenager....he promoted both...anyone with common sense would favor the guy who makes it look easy against top shelve fighters nearly every fight
Manny was pleasing to the eye....excitement edge goes to manny
ring IQ, technique, know how and adaptability went to floyd...those attributes win fights
he knew he had to milk manny as long as he could. why would he want a client who left him( who became the highest paid boxer ever) to beat his new pet project/ cash cow.
anyone who thought it was going to happen in 09-10 which was the height of manny mania were on some good crack. "tak teh muh Pamoter BROB ADRUM!"
power and wars win fans...totally different thing
