Relatively new to boxing and I don't understand why it seems as if Canelo favours 155 or maybe 154 over GGG at 160. After the weigh in he enters the ring at 160 -175
So what difference does it make to him?
All it means is that he doesn't have to struggle as much to get down to weight.
Any explanations that don't include the word 'coward' would be appreciated
Canelo has never weighed 175 on fight night. I think he hit 172 once which is what other big 154 pounders like Trout weigh on fight night. Why he won't go to 160 is a mystery only he knows. It's only 5 pounds over his preferred weight of 155. Five pounds isn't that much. It's a big meal and giant coke. He usually weighs about the same as GGG on fight night so GGG hyas no size advantage.
Canelo vs Lara - 171
Canelo vs Angulo - 174
Canelo vs Trout - 172
No weigh-in, but it's easy to see that:
Canelo vs Kirkland - 170~
Canelo vs Khan - 170~
Canelo vs Cotto - 170~
He stopped weighing-in on fight night probably to hide the fact that he weighs more than GGG/about the same.
Good question. When he enters the ring he is a massive middleweight. Why doesn't he want to fight at a level playingfield? I don't understand either. Surely it's not because he knows he will lose to GGG?
Hes sending you casuals and hardcores a message but you all still dont understand.....he dont need sanctioning bodies or too abide with standards that the average boxers adheres to - Canelo is in his own league, get on his level or kick rocks.

Because Alvarez and his camp still believe that his 5'9 broad frame can still fight at junior middleweight (where he's still fighting guys who walk into the ring, generally speaking, 165-170).
With Alvarez already being 25 years old (with his growing pretty much done at this point), he's basically maxed out at 5'9, weighing 170-175 when all the way fit on fight night.
Outside of Miguel Cotto, Alvarez is dwarfed by basically every other fighter at middleweight.
With Alvarez already being a draw, there's no need for him to rush the move (and likely his last move up until he's a faded/fading fighter, tbf).

Smaller dudes are able to make the lower weights. Canelo is young and was able to drain himself to the 154 pound division without much consequences. Canelo rehydrates 15-20 pounds the day of the fight while the opponent only hydrates about 5-10 meaning canelo has an advantage of about 10 pounds on the opponent. Now hes struggling to make 154 so instead of going to the next available division 160 aka middleweight he decides to make his own weight class one pound above 154 and fight a bunch of 154 pounders at the weight knowing hed have a weight advantage. He doesnt wanna fight at 160 because then he wont have a weight advantage since fighters like ggg hydrate about 10or so pounds and is about the same size as him.

By your logic, Golovkin should fight at 168 because he cuts weight to get to 160. Boxing is a sport. Intelligence is part of the game. Just as a guy with a solid jab tends to box vs brawl, it's in the best interest for fighters to fight at the lowest weight they can safely make.
This is really simple stuff guys. Come the fk on.
Because hes younger than GGG and can cut to 155 alot easier and rehydrate like he has been the past couple of years. Hes just trying to drain GGG because he doesnt want him to be at 100% if they fight. He really can fight at 160 with no problem.
he is scurred of GGG at 160, he needs to have a size ADVANTAGE, he cant have his opponent be the same size as him, thats to much of an even playing field. He dont want that.
