He was so hyped by Arum and all of the sudden he has fallen off of the map...he has a fight lined up on the 11th this month yet i have heard nothing about it
Zou Shiming had his bubble burst at world level by Amnat Ruenroeng; you add that he's already 35, and has likely maxed out at 112lbs, and folks have seemingly cut bait on the man.
They'll work his name back up, continue to try and showcase him to the Chinese audience, and hope to pick off the WBO belt if someone slips up (the top 5-7 guys at the weight beat Shiming, and I'd figure that enough folks under than beat him too; WBO rarely forces anything, so Shiming can pick off the belt and simply just defend it in China until he retires)
He's 35 and isn't undefeated anymore lol. Dint think arum really cared about him for American audience but he'll still make money in China
what movie did he do a cameo in, transformers? xmen? :lol1:
China is great for the movie industry it seems. Multi millions are made, so I saw why Arum wanted that Chinese star in Boxing.
He tried to use Pac as the Asian to get some love but the Chinese are kind of racist/nationalistic.
HBO saw the same thing Arum did.
An untapped market and a billion people ready to root for a national hero.
Which would have been fine if a) they limited it to their HBO Asia distribution channel and b) Shiming was a legit, interest sparking talent.
Neither of those conditions were true.

opportunity for bob to get his feet wet in china. that's the most powerful country on the world iwth the fastest growing middle class. there's a city called macau that does 3-4 x more gambling revenue than las vegas. when the next chinese great comes around, bob is goign to have the upper hand.
Let's not forget HBO's role in trying to make him a 'thing' too. How much airtime did they waste on this middling talent and blatant Top Rank money grab?
Sad.

Zou was never going to be an elite professional. He simply does not have the right tools to be a successful professional. He has quick hands and great footwork, but it basically ends there as far as skills that translate to the pro game. He is absolutely feather fisted and has absolutely no "nasty" to him.
He's that "professional amateur" type of boxer.
TR had the right idea by signing a star from China, they just signed the wrong guy.
He is old, with a completely amateur style, and no power.
He isn't bad at all, but has no chance of ever being a star outside of China.
