I might agree if everything wasn't so convoluted by money and wealth. our society has evolved to the point of natural order being virtually eliminated. many of the notions about hierarchy in animal groups has been since proven antiquated...in the wild they are usually in more of a family structure, where hierarchy is determined similar to our own families. many of the studies that led to the conclusions about alpha, beta etc. were done on individual animals put together in captive settings. this would be similar to studying human behavior in a prison.

Why would anyone want to apply this to humans anyway? How does one's perceived self awareness of where they "fit" into a so called hierarchy benefit them in any way?
