Lara will be fighting this weekend against Vanes in a rematch few people want to see. Both couldn't fill a stadium even if they gave the tickets away, yet they're splitting 1.1 million between them. 700k to Lara and 400k to Vanes. How are they making this much? Other fighters see these two guys making this much and rightfully believe they deserve just as much or more.
This is why we never get the fights we want.
Why BJ'S says give me a lot of money to fight GGG.
Why Loma/Walter's won't get made.
Why Gonzalez/Estrada 2 won't be made.
Why a dozen other fights that should be made aren't.
Showtime Sports' budget analysts have no problem with it so why should I?
I'm going to enjoy watching this mini 154 tournament unfold. Several fights mixing and matching top contenders.
What's really wrong with boxing is "fans" criticizing fights between top contenders in a division and instead of enjoying the best fighting the best, worrying about Showtime's profit and loss statement.
Does this bother you also?
$3.25 million for this card and Lomachenko is gettin paid more than Lara and Lomanchenko fought a can.
Per Nevada commission, #BradleyRios purses: Bradley $1.9M, Rios $800k, Lomachenko $750k, Koasicha $35k #boxing— Dan Rafael (@danrafaelespn) November 6, 2015
$2.35 million for 3 championship fights
Per NSAC, purses for Sat’s @SHOsports card: Lara $700k, Vanes 400k, Jermall Charlo 500k, Trout 300k, Jermell Charlo 250k, Jackson 175k.— Dan Rafael (@danrafaelespn) May 20, 2016
Take your fake outrage (it's really Haymon hate) somewhere else.
Of course that's also ridiculous. LOMA is not worth that much either.
It isn't Haymon hate. In fact if you pay attention here I have cheered on the PBC. Hoping more and more fans tune in
But the problem I see here is when you grossly over pay a fighter it creates a false sense of value. This then does have an effect on the rest of the sport. Guys like Walters see Lara make that much to fight a pointless rematch or lsc make 750k to fight a bum and of course hes upset to be offered less to fight Loma. As a result we either don't get the fight we want or it takes years and years before we see the fight we want. We go weeks and weeks without boxing.
He can't see pass his hate and/or ignorance to realize these are the type of cards he wants to see. He's using the example 3 championship fights on one card on Showtime but he's complaining about fights that aren't being made on HBO. So instead he should be praising Showtime for investing in the sport and be upset with HBO for not investing in the sport. None of these guys are making outrageous amounts of money. This is a quality card.
word... plus 2 more fights that I think are good that arent televised unless like 2 of those fights ends early.
These are 3 championship fights with the top fighters at 154 and nobody is even making over a million dollars. What are you *****ing about?

no dude can stop cryin'
I find it hilarious when people try to construct how a business makes move today as having some bigger impact among the current state of boxing.
I assure you sir people who do bad business get put out of business or they innovate the marketplace if they can profit & do things "wrong" as to how most people view how things should be working. The problems of boxing go WELL BEYOND purses not matching up with the venue gate as you are suggesting.
this.
One can operate in the red for only so long before the money dries up.
