Can VADA issue a retroactive TUE?
We all know by now VADA, a third party testing agency, isn't a WADA signatory and only mimics WADA prohibited list as their own code.
But do they allow retroactive tues if provetkin has a legitimate explaination for melodium?
Or does VADA make this **** up as they go along.
What a ****y testing agency. To bad they didn't use USADA.
Oh well let's all sit back and watch the fckery unfold.
This is incorrect. WADA's ruling (of less than 1 microgram) applies to tests conducted on or before March 1st. There is no set guideline for tests conducted afterward. They would need to study the life of the drug more to make a determination.
Plus they need to explain the 3 prior clean tests. It's possible that he was carrying less water weight which made it possible to find such small amounts.
Or he could have ingested it in April after the clean tests. We don't know.
"Wada said in its briefing document that doping cases should be pursued in the case of athletes who admit having taken meldonium on or after 1 January, in cases where the concentration of the drug is above 15 micrograms per millilitre, or where the concentration is between 1 and 15 millilitres and the test was after 1 March.
The organisation said prosecution of meldonium cases could be “stayed” and provisional suspensions lifted if the concentration of the drug in the system was between 1 and 15 micrograms per millilitre and the test was carried out before 1st March, or if the level is below 1 microgram per millilitre and the doping control was conducted after 1st March."

There is an automatic "retroactive TUE" (WADA just calls it amnesty) for meldonium due to its recent banning and trace amounts testing positive.
If 70 nanograms is the true amount in Povetkin's blood, then he qualifies.
They postponed the fight because there wasn't enough time to re-test and clear everyone.
Cancelling it indefinitely was Lou Dibella's (or someone else on Wilder's team) choice and not related to WADA/VADA.
Except for a couple of things:
1) That retroactive "amnesty" was for TESTS BEFORE MARCH 1. This test was a couple days short of two months after that deadline.
2) He passed three tests and then tested negative, which indicates he took it after Jan. 1.
Fail. (Not you, Povetkin.)

VADA has no affiliation to WADA. A WADA tue has no place here.
What is VADA procedure and who is on their therapeutic use exemption Comittee.
I was under the impression VADA uses WADA guidelines.
Have they "modified" them? That would actually explain a lot.
Povetkin should opt for a more neutral/international testing agency next time.
If Floyd can prove he has a legitimate reason for 750ml of IV and all the other illegal antics he has got up to then I will believe he is clean but otherwise he is a cheater and a ped user until proven wrong.
Floyd is retired.
Provetkin was scheduled to fight the other black guy.
*******.

Nah. Because he would have had to inform them beforehand. As in, before taking it. And then they would have to have tested him. And then after all that, and if he had a legitimate reason, then maybe. So in other words, dumb thread.
Great thread. You're just too dumb to follow. The end.

I don't know. They probably could if they wanted to. Of course if an athlete doesn't test positive, they might be more willing to do this, like USADA did with Floyd.
When you have an athlete that has either tested positive (like Povetkin) or refused to test, they might see this as a red flag and refuse a TUE.
