Will GGG-Canelo happen in Fall 2016? Honestly I had no hope for this fight to happen before the Khan fight, even though it HAS to happen.
But after Canelo called GGG into the ring- Oscar saying it'll happen before the fight, and EVERYBODY pestering Canelo about GGG in the build up and last night (he looked annoyed in the ring when he was saying he doesn't **** around), I think this happens, no doubt, THIS year.
There's no way Canelo would not let this fight happen now, at this point. His fans would probably disown him, IMO. It's out on the table now- they all know there's a guy named GGG who's been waiting for that WBC belt.
The only thing I still honestly have no idea about- is the weight. I think the fight happens this fall, no more marinating BS, but who's going to budge on weight? I know Canelo is the star- but I don't think he makes 155 comfortably, dude looked kinda dry at the weigh in. I believe Canelo will finally accept his fate in the coming weeks and give in.
Will this fight happen next, this year?
Seems like GBP is the one holding the fight off, but i have theory that GBP lets Canelo chose a fight then GBP choses the next n so on
He chosed Lara, Trout, Cotto
GBP chosed Angulo, Kirkland, Khan
I hope it does but I doubt it. Even if they agree on weight I think Canelo and GBP will have just absolutely outrage Demands probably ask for something like 80/20 Split
I think Either May or September 2017
I don't think so. I think Golden Boy will offer 155 and a 70-30 split, K2 will scoff but still want the fight. They will negotiate another step aside and both fighters take one more fight before the end of the year.
I think it does happen in May of next year.
I didn't think so but Canelo really stuck himself post fight. I think the moment got the better of him.
Agreed. I'm hoping he backed himself into a corner, and now has no choice but to ask for Golovkin next.
Does anyone believe Canelo is going to fight Golovkin after just having fought a china chinned Junior Welterweight/ Welterweight? Do you guys think Canelo's team believe Amir Khan was a good warm up fight to prepare for GGG? Amir Khan?!!!! FFS
Really ?!!
Nah....Oscar understands that this sport us driven by casual idiots. He's smart enough to feed them what they want to hear and buy more time.
I think the pressure needs to turn to Jacobs who is hiding behind Uncle Al and posing as a champion with his WBA participation ribbon.
Yeah, Oscar and the rest of Canelo's team won't allow this fight to happen any time soon. That's way too big of a risk for the new golden boy of boxing.
It's a remote possibility. Very remote.
I'd say NO this fight won't happen this year.
Do you really think that Canelo's team are going to risk losing their cash cow and possibly have him take a career ending beat down? It would be really hard to build him back up to the star power that he has right now if he gets destroyed by GGG.
The only time Canelo gets in the ring with Golovkin is when GGG starts looking old and vulnerable. Who knows how long that'll take.,,,,,,but Golovkin isn't getting any younger.
Oscar works for Canelo not the other way around. So if Canelo says, hey, Golovkin, that's who I want next make it Oscar, Oscar gotta do it.
Meh....I have low expectations for boxing. If it happens this year, I'll party, if it doesn't, I didn't expect it to anyways.
Oh yeah, like I said last night, "let the circus begin" because things are going to get crazy. The hype is real.
After I heard them say that Canelo is calling GGG to the ring and after Canelo's translator said that Canelo said "We don't **** around," or something like that.... I had this crazy feeling where I FINALLY felt like this fight is happening next.
:baby:
They got nothing unless they team up with Top Rank and try to get Pacquiao or Bradley. I'm sure Oscar is on the phone right now (assuming he's still awake from his coke binge last night).
maybe they are trapped against the corner with no way out. this next few weeks will be interesting.

This may be a sad reality, and the thought of it is terrible. I just read something on twitter by Teddy Atlas that read something along the lines of- he doesn't think it'll happen because there's too much money to be made from Canelo fighting "other," opponents.... so he doesn't think they'll fight GGG.
Basically, like you both say- GBP/Canelo could make millions for the next few years fighting everybody not named GGG, with little to no risk... As opposed to taking the Golovkin fight and possibly losing. (potentially derailing all of that. depending how bad the loss would be)
:(
I suppose Jacobs would be the next 160lb fight. But do you really wanna see that, man? It's Canelo next or such a HUGE bust for me. Jacobs would get absolutely flattened (just like Canelo, IMO) but the difference being a win against Jacobs would do absolutely nothing for GGG, similar to the Wade fight. His only next linear step is Canelo. He needs that fight for the casuals.
I am a long time Canelo fan and I will remain a fan if he doesn't fight GGG. After all, Martinez, Cotto, Jacobs, Quillen and Saunders won't or wouldn't fight GGG either so Canelo is not the only guy to avoid GGG. If Canelo proves me wrong and does fight GGG then I give much respect to him for taking a fight he will probably lose. GGG is the best middleweight in the world and most boxing people know it.
