Seems to be a huge double standard here. I fully believe that Canelo will now be fighting ggg in September. So he's stepping up. This is the blueprint to be recognized as a "great" fighter IMO. Not running up in the ring after a fight and standing there until everybody is gone like weirdos.
Seriously, what's up with this dude,
is he content with mediocrity?
Beating Canelo won't make him a star or great. In fact Canelo would probably get more props from his haters for taking the fight.
GGG wants to clear out 160 and own it. Khan never owned any division, ever.
Stop making crap threads.
Exactly.
Everyone has a different set of circumstances surrounding them.

I think Amir deserves credit for stepping up for Canelo, but at the end of the day, he was in a very different position to GG.
GG is getting lots of criticism for not stepping up. But he has goals he wants to achieve. He wants to obtain all of the MW belts. As it stands, he's half way to achieving his goals. He's got 2 of the 4 belts, and he's the mandatory to Canelo's lineal belt. He wants to fight Canelo, Jacobs and Saunders. And that should be respected. He's a MW, it's a prestigious division, and he's not doing anything different to any of the other guys at the other weight classes who want to obtain all of the belts.
He should be left alone, and we just have to hope that he moves up after his MW goals have been completed. And I honestly believe he will move up within the next 18 months. Anybody who criticises him at this stage has no respect for him.
Yes, he gave an honest effort. I'm sure he knew that winning a fight of this magnitude was worth probably way more than the purse. I don't think this demonstrates that the risk he took was reasonable or interesting. I'd much prefer he had made the Brook fight because it's a matchup with much more intrigue that would have meant more. Canelo-Khan was predictable.
I'm not convinced that GGG could work his way to 175 and beat any of the top guys there (Kovalev, Stevenson, Ward) and I doubt many others would disagree. Canelo and Jacobs are interesting fights to make at 160, but I'd be ok if he skipped over Saunders and went to 168. The guy who comes out as the best at 168 vs GGG could be a great fight, but I don't see a reason why working his way up to 175 makes sense for him right now.
Agreed, and I think he's a bit old and it's a little too late now to pursue that which is kinda my point. IMHO he's wasted all this time at middleweight where there's no question of his superiority.
Imagine if you were able to say. "He started at 160, beat everybody who would get in the ring with him while everybody else ducked him. Then he moved up to 168 dominated the lower tier fighters while settling in had a hell of a fight with fighter X. But came out victorious and is now champ at 168. Now he's getting ready to move up yet again and is gonna fight umm pascal in his first fight with another championship on the horizon"
Wouldn't that be better than "he's trying to unify the division doe"?
It's kinda out of context with my original argument but it's not far fetched that he could literally be at that point in his career right now, is it?
My original argument is basically that Ward ggg fight could have been made already (and should have been after all the crap that Abel talked. Which is basically ggg saying it. After all that is his team I'm sure ggg could have told him to stfu already if he was uncomfortable with it)The best vs the best, literally. They could have fought at a catchweight of 168 seeing how people like to now use the excuse of Ward being two divisions heavier. Great great fight that would have lucrative money and career wise.
The point in is more fighters at the top level should be willing to take these risks. Just as Virgil said. That goes for Canelo too. Again, I'm operating under the pretense that Canelo makes the ggg fight. If that doesn't come off then I guess there is no point of this thread right. The joke would then be on me. I just think if you put ggg skills and power into perspective he should be pretty much level against anybody all the way up to 175. The truly elite fighters are the ones that should be setting the tone. As much sh*t as I give ggg, he is a truly elite fighter.
I've also always given khan much crap but you can't knock his heart or desire and it shouldn't be down played as a cash grab.
Well, let's just not sit here and act like there was no inherited risk involved. Dude could have ended up a vegetable. Wouldn't you think The reward of winning would have been worth the risk. As well as the risk being rewarding monetarily. I think it was bigger than a "cash grab" I believe khan truly thought he had a chance to win and not get caught. It's not like he laid down for Canelo is it (figuritely speaking. Cause he literally did lay down) but he went in there and gave it an honest effort, would you agree?

When was that opportunity? I must have missed something.
He' referring to Ward's fake offer, as usual, when GG was promoting his Lemieux fight. It wasn't even an offer that was made 1-2 years ago which was mostly spent on stalling tactics by Ward. It wasn't even an offer that any schmo can take seriously. It wasn't an offer that says we'll fight after the Lemiux fight. It's an offer that says we'll fight after undetermined amounts of tuneup fights. You'll wonder who exactly GG should be fighting while waiting for Ward gathering enough balls.
What would you like GGG to do about that now exactly? Like, what is the intent of this thread? Making GGG/Ward at this point is not realistic. Even if it were, is your whole argument that because Amir Khan was willing to get decapitated for 8 digits that everyone should be banging on the doors of much bigger boxers?

He is cuddled by HBO so he doesn't need to now I fully expect him to make weight and issue GGG should have already fought at Super middle weight by now
Ok and? It's not like this fight paid him a trivial amount relative to his existing wealth. The fact that he was rich already doesn't suddenly make this fight something other than the obvious cash grab that it was.

Everybody wanted to see ggg vs Ward right? There were literally hundreds of threads on it. More than Canelo ggg threads anyways.
It seems everybody wanted that fight except Abel and ggg

And who at 168 now is a more logical fight to make right now than GGG-Canelo? He's the mando for Canelo's title, people all over are asking for the fight, and Canelo is a bigger name than anyone at 168 by a great deal. If I were in GGG's shoes this is the fight I'd be trying to make.
I'm pretty sure he already was worth about 30 mil. You guys are acting like Canelo just made him rich or something.
He's been paying people to grab his balls for awhile now

Yes, it's been 4-5 years of cowards and con men avoiding Golovkin.
It's a technique that a few other recent fighters have used to appear as though they're much better than they actually are.
Why are you so afraid of Golovkin getting Canelo's belts and unifying? Why all the hate?
I'm not afraid, that's kinda silly. I'll be watching comfortably from my couch.
To me, the better question is what does it really prove to unify a division of cowards? Everybody who has truly swerved him had already conceded IMO. He's already proved he's by far the best MW out there.
Also, im operating under the pretense that Canelo does take this fight for September. (Maybe they come to some agreement for each to have an interim fight, but that doesn't really make sense) nobody thought that Canelo should or would take the Lara fight, but he did(Not like Lara's a killer. But he is a stylistic nightmare for anybody) Canelo fights for pride as well as money. I'm just wondering when ggg will do the same thing. He had the opportunity to prove he's the best p4p and chose to pass it up.
It's been 4-5 years now of "trying to unify"

Your done here.
For Christ sakes you've admitted to reading his mind.
You keep dragging his name and I'm the one reading his mind? Are you an idiot?!
I asked a question. Who do you want him to step up with?
I knew this is about Ward again. Did you clowns ever checked with him whether he wanted the fight or not? You just straight up dragged his name and acted as if you're his representatives.

Are you implying that khan didn't step up?
Your such a daft cunt. How are you gonna tell me not to "drag wards name into it without his consent" :lol1: then turn around and tell me what he's thinking.
It should be illegal of you to read minds without permission.
I think stepping is some sort of dance battle?
