What is the real reason for Canelo picking Khan?

I have been thinking about it and I can't come up with a good reason. A good name for 5 de Mayo fight(Money)? A name for his resume? What does it do for his legacy? Were they trying to look impressive to scare other contenders? I mean, other than money this fight did more damage than good to his image simply because it had the outcome that everybody (ok, most with half a brain) were expecting. Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing him as a boxer, he is talented and a solid champ but what was the strategy here?

Big name for a brand new arena which also happened to be the first boxing match in said arena. Might as well go for the stars.

But they are tainting the reputation of Canelo in a sense. The hardcore boxing fans know better! The sad part is that there seem to be more casuals that real fans out there! Yea i kno, for them its all money Lol this sh1t is sickeninig, i bet that the way Nelo is not under contract is at the post fight ring interview,

Easy Publicity. Casuals love KOs. Fight a guy who is known for having a weak chin. KO him. Easy Publicity. I guess they could build the GGG fight as two "killers"! Makes sense!
