Just came across Oleksandr Teslenko (Ukrainian based out in Canada) I was expecting a typical big, slow, lumbering out-of-shape robot but I was actually instantly impressed with what I seen.
6ft5, 216lbs but solidly built with almost 250 amateur fights. How have I never heard of this guy? And he is only 23!
His pro debut
Ammy fight - few more on YT if you're interested.
Searched the forum but nothing at all I did however find this

He's back out this weekend headlining a card full of undefeated prospects in Cali taking on a 7-2-1 southpaw.

Here is his last fight
Keep the Teslenko updates coming, Dan.

I had been looking into getting some of his fights. I think he has had 8 or 9 fights so far. He has a good team behind him. I believe he is out of Quebec with the same guys who handle Oscar Rivas & Bute. I could be wrong. I'm sure Freedom or someone else can find that out.
looks like a big, talented kid. ukraine has some serious boxing talent and schooling. keep them coming.
i'm officially a usyk fanboy now, BTW :D. saw him fight glowacki recently at cruiserweight. kid can f#cking fight. he'll have trouble hurting HW, but i don't have any doubts taht he's goign to outbox a lot of them in time.
Vitali is athletic to you?
You must be in a wheelchair.
I said his hand positioning reminded me of Vitali, not his athleticism. Teslenko is 20-30lbs lighter than Vitali was. He'll probably put on weight as he ages, which could affect his speed/agility.
I'm impressed with what I see with this kid. Good physique and technique. It will be interesting to see how he develops and when he ups his competition.
We will see this guy dominate in a few years, then he will go on to dominate for a decade like Vladimir in ultra boring fashion, much to the pleasure of NSB.
Very interesting. Good head movement, fast hands, seemingly good power and good combinations. I hate his legs, put on some muscle on those f***ing legs, in time like Wilder it will pose issues. Besides his hands being low; I suspect he had quite a bit of confidence going into the fight. The kid is a talent including with the size and technique.
Athletically he looks great for a HW. Speedy, good reflexes and pretty good footwork. That straight right is sneaky. And its good to see a big guy dictate with his jab. Of course, judgement will have to be reserved until we see him face a guy who can show us what kind of chin and endurance the guy has. But his skillset is easy to see.
Only con I can see: he keeps his hands pretty low! Particularly the jab hand. He got hit with some silly punches because of it. Strange for a European fighter with such a good amateur career.
Also: WTF is it with Ukrainians being the biggest mofos on the planet? What's in the water over there?
Erm. Radiation? :D
Ah sh*t. I forgot all about his kickboxing. I remember there was a thing going around a while back about him being KO'ed there? But I think it was by a kick though.
Yeah he got KO'd by a spinning heel kick to the temple. Only time he's been knocked down I think.
Vitali was far more athletic than other fighters his size. Compare his movement pre-injuries to welded-spine fighters like Wilder, Valuev, Fury, or even Wlad.
I think part is his old kickboxing days

The Soviet boxing program was god-tier. Not just Ukraine, but all of the -stan countries tend to produce excellent boxers in general.
Or maybe just Slav genetics in general :P The three S's - Slavs, Scots, and Samoans - are always just hard as f***.

He looks to have very good hands but so upright and open to counters. Moreso than Vitali, he reminds me of Wlad in his early days before he became really cautious.
He is now 7-0 with 6K.Os (other was a DQ) and due back out on the 15th October in Canada so he is staying active with his 6th fight in what will be 6 months.
Here is his fight before last vs 8-2-1 opponent
Also him in the amateurs vs Usyk
That isn't Oleksandr Usyk, perhaps Artem Usyk. Pretty obvious by watching it but 2012 was also an Olympic year and Usyk didn't compete at Ukrainian Nationals.
Pretty sure i do have a fight of his versus Oleksandr from the Nikolai Manger tournament though.
Yes, well noticed! He doesn't hold his hands back far enough, not only making his defense suspect but also reducing power. A good trainer would address this. Great talent though.
Some trainers actually prefer fighters hold their hands out front...usually if they have a reach advantage. Acts as a line of defense, along with the front foot, that the shorter opponent has to get past. It's especially common with the lead hand...keeps the opponent at bay and can be used to measure, and a half c0cked jab takes less time to reach the target.
