I mean, in some remotely far-fetched scenario even? I know it's not likely but then again- Floyd loves money, and no fight on the planet makes more money than this one would.
Personally I don't see it happening because its an extremely risky fight for Floyd, even if he sets a catchweight (very likely).
No, you said it Floyd loves money, and the fight makes little sense. GGG has yet to add an elite fighter on his resume. Floyd beating him would be a notch better than beating Guerrero, Ortiz, Berto level fighters, but lower than Pac, Cotto, Canelo, Mosley, De La Hoya. Even Hatton, because at least Hatton had beaten Tszyu to gain his reputation and killer image, while GGG has no one of that level at 160, but maybe could have gained that rep by beating Lara.
That's not true. Pacquiao, Canelo, Cotto rematches all make more money than this one would for starters. Because it would be an 'in-house' fight, Mayweather makes more money off of fighting DSG than he would from GGG. If Khan manages to pull off the upset vs Canelo, that's also a fight that Floyd could take that would make more money than a fight with GGG. After those 5 names, then I would put GGG's name in there.
I didn't really mean now but you're totally right as of right now.

That's where Oscar and GBP have been superior to K2. Canelo is JUST as manufactured as GGG is, but his resume includes the scalps of fighters such as Mosely, Cotto, Angulo, Lara, Trout. Regardless of gifts, conditions and such, against those fighters, he has ticks in the win column. GGG's best wins are Murray and Geale. "Real Deal" Geale, lmfao.
The problem here friend, is that regardless of how long this run goes, GGG still has an immensely loyal fan base that will ride and die with him. Just like Manny's supporters burned Nike apparel in a parking lot in a voodoo-esque ritual, GGG's supporters will do the same. That's why Manny can say whatever the hell he wants to about homosexuals, and GGG could fight that Lazslo guy Paulie fought in Italy and likely get more fans after blowing through him and tossing him aside like used toilet paper.
You got it as far as CANELO...he was fed jr welters and welters at 154 but at least he has some very good top shelf opponents from 154
How long can people ride that " they ducking him doe" horse. Its past old.
Your low opinion of Floyd means you're predisposed to expect the worst of him and not give him the benefit of the doubt, or even remain neutral/unbiased about it all.
I personally have a low opinion of GGG's insistence on fighting part time dock workers and cab drivers who supplement their income by boxing. But I believe that if he truly wants to fight Floyd and get the massive payday that it would bring, then he will stop with the posturing, the hypocrisy and double standards and just fight and defeat Andre Ward.
If he fights and defeats Ward, it will mean two things:
1) This win in itself is 5 times more valuable than over Floyd - legacy wise
2) He will be too big for Floyd. Because in order to beat Ward he will have to gain muscle.
I salute your optimism.
Thank you kindly. Why don't you join me on this side of the fence? Endless Optimists such as myself get disappointed a lot, and don't have any b*tches, but we get free doughnuts.
me either...too much talent to be wasted on welterweights and middleweight no names.
Its like his handlers want the most notoriety and money for the least risk....if you want the glory you take the risks for it.

thats exactly where i stand with GGG....its not exciting for me to see some one so talented blitz unranked guys and no names
Tyson was doing the same thing, but his string of no names lasted only 2 years....GGG has been a pro a decade
his team is going to have to realize that in order for people to believe in his ability, or greatness(he may be great) we have to actually see it.
I dont have much tolerance for watching out and out mismatches.

Problem is, they don't know how to disagree without hating. You can't disagree with a statement on here without being labelled. Don't like GGG? Then obviously Ward is your "hero" and you hate him because you're black and he's white. Dislike Canelo? Then GGG is your "hero" and you hate him because he's Mexican and you're white. Like black fighters, you're a black supremacist and hate white people. Like GGG? You're some kind of racist. Etc. I love Floyd, not because I'm black, but because of how skillful a boxer he is and how high his ring IQ was. I'm not a fan of GGG, not because he's white, but because of how carefully constructed his image domination have been. He has the skills that make me want to get behind him, but lacks the resume/level of comp for that to happen. I thought Deontay Wilder was a sack of sh*t before the Stiverne fight, and I was actually rooting for Bermaine. Wilder made a fan outta me that night.
Everybody thinks in such black and white absolutes that its difficult to have a barb and hatred free boxing discussion/thread.

I don't have the mental fortitude or maturity of a sausage, so I don't take offence with people disagree with my opinion. In fact, I agree with you. I want to see GGG fight people who will actually test his ability and character. Fighting Floyd does nothing for Gennady other than get him paid.
I just don't think he's having a career that his talent/ability suggest he should be having.

And I'm saying you can't seem to look passed that opinion. Nothing is set in stone. Thinking in absolutes is something I don't subscribe to, so while you absolutely believe Floyd won't stick to his word if GGG fights and beats Ward, I think anything is possible.
I salute your optimism.
What most of these guys don't seem to get is that they are the ones who make Floyd as great as he is.
The fact they have to push the boundaries, create new measuring sticks to just to try and discredit him speaks volumes to how they actually rate him. The fact that they don't see it makes it all the more funny to me.

i didnt take offense. This is NSB (non stop b!tching) if you dont agree with people they call you a hater. thought you reacted that way, my bad....either way...i dont want to see another middleweight fight a welterweight.

You said I don't give Floyd the benefit of the doubt, because I have a low opinion of him. The examples of his dubious behavior are why I don't give him the benefit of the doubt & why I have a low opinion of him.

A Pac rematch would happen before this ever does. His biggest paydays would be Pac, Danny, AB, GGG, Canelo or Brook in the UK. He has too many options without trying to get himself killed against GGG. We have weight classes for a reason and I have no desire to see him fight GGG.
I just made a statement about the negative effect hate has on impartiality. You're the one who took offence, and I'M the one who has to get out of his emotions?
Sure, okay.
