8 rounds to 4, plus a knockdown.
Close but clear...if it wasn't Canelo, there would be no 'controversy'.
It was a fight in which Trout was trying to win purely on work rate. Canelo did all the clean work, was much better defensively and landed all the best punches.
I don't think work rate is enough when the other guy does all the better work.
This, either people don't know what in the hell they're watching or they are just haters. You don't win rounds by shoe shining punches while landing jack *****. Sorry
I had Canelo winning by like a point if i remember correctly, but once Trout saw that he was gonna get robbed no matter what he did, he started coming forward more instead of boxing effectively as he was earlier. Take that open scoring away and there was a good possibility of him doing better and making a case for a robbery. But who knows, Canelo just as easily could have maintained his lead. Both looked good that night.
One thing's for sure though, Trout was NOT about to get a decision unless he won like every round and scored 5 knock downs.
If you take away Canelo's knockdown I had it a draw. Trout would have won that round. He came back from the KD and out worked Canelo. I thought he won 7-5 with that kd. Close fight. Closer than the Lara one I thought.
Close but clear for Canelo. But the open scoring completely ruined that fight. The scores were crazy wide when they read them and likely changed how each fighter approached the remaining rounds.
i had canelo by 2 pts being the nkockdown the difference the fight was a bit more tacticalthan i thought trout not known for his power became agressorhe landed more than canelo but with not much, pop canelo landed less with more pop he basically used this fight as a glorified sparring exam that got dangerouly cvlose foconfort because trout refused to stop punches at canelo that 4th round k.d.marked the difference in mny card canelo although tjhe fight was close and canelo took the fight to refine his defence asnd good head movement to avoid bombs but landed eough to pull in out canelo by 2pts he never looked like he tried for k.o.
PERSONAALY WHEN YOUN GO OUT YOR WAY TOOFOLLOW CANELO ON THE PODUM people are assupinf, heel bingit and he did for a whie but stoppdff and after canelo saw this he started going after thebody with no letting back and laras 4or5puncing combos started taking its toll toy couldve continued doing thesame but that mean his he wouldbe exposed top canelos body shots where appernta`lly they where ¨affecting hims strongly you could see his face and body language hewas a in pain so his plan turned into survival mode.and after all he t alkled to hype thefighht but after 5th round he got into survivaland in the peoples eyes if you go into survivalmode epecially when you clearly said otherwise yournot goiong to get far in a big fight.he simply didnt dekiver
Video showed trouts kids were crying during the fight. I think that should tell u someone was getting punched very hard.
Exactly. Where did these dudes learn to score fights. Clean punches, effective aggression, and volume of children's tears. It's not complicated.
This fight was f*cked when Alvarez was up 8-0 and 6-2 on two scorecards in a dead even fight. Complete bullsh*t. It was a close fight either guy had an argument for winning, but those scorecards mean Trout had no chance no matter what.
It wasn't that clear, a lot of people had Trout winning:

I had Trout by 1pt, but Canelo clearly started coasting when the criminal open scores were announced after Rd 8
Great post...

Great post. Often, people hate on Canelo on here. People also don't know how to judge fights either. They think that defense, work rate, and movement equals control in the ring. This is not always the case. You have to show you want to win and let your hands go at the same time. Just last night I saw Degale lose to Medina, but was robbed. He out landed Degale. So, how did he lose on the cards? Smh. He won by at least 2 or 3 rounds. 112-116 or 113-115. Floyd has turned the sport into a joke and on May 2nd, it lost all of it's credibility in the eyes of the people.
was it close, was it the right decision?
canelo coasted the later rounds due to open scoring, that is what made the fight closer ... but the better man won, trout him self said that at the post fight interview... dont trust any of us, you can listen to austin trout him self here...

not a bad fight for canelo at only 22yo..

Anybody other than Canelo and people would have no problem with the decision.
Because it was Canelo, fighting in Texas and the scores were wider than expected, sone people like to act like it was a robbery.
The right man won, and he looked in control the whole time.
Some fans and a few writers were just a little bitter that this was the guy they were accusing Canelo of ducking and he handled him pretty well.
Trout's accuracy for that fight sucked ass. He hit a whole lot of air. Canelo was much more accurate and the better boxer.
Just depends what you like, jabs versus power shots. I thought Canelo looked like a boss in there, ducking and dodging and making him pay. Trout didn't do much of anything. It was as competitive as any other 8-4 type of fight.

It was an easy fight for Canelo. It looked like he wasn't even trying in there and still easily had control of the fight. Not to mention he made trout do the stanky leg.
That's what I saw as well, Canelo had an easy time. I wish I can use the goggles of people who say Trout got robbed or the fight was close. Seeing the fight through my eyes I saw a young man with no amateur background make Trout look like the amateur.
