I think a lot of the buzz died aftre the brutal KO Manny suffered and even though they made tons of money, it doesn't mean they wouldn't have made tons more.
The reason I ask is because I see people are trying to use the marination of Pac/Floyd as an example of the money that can be made and the reason GBP wants to wait. Everybody knows the truth is GGG is not a young pup and Canelo is. Team Canelo's going to wait for him to show weakness if they can't drain him. I bet if GGG said yes to 155lbs all the marination talk would disappear.
Rios has no fans either. The Clottey fight was seen as a risky fight for Pacquiao which is why it sold more. Explain why the Bradley rematch sold near enough the same amount if Pacquiao's popularity took a dive?
Rios has far more fans then Clottey and as for risk, there were some in boxing like kellerman, Attlas and tons here on boxingscene that claimed Rios was a bad idea for a comeback fight after being KO'd so badly.
Clottey was a better fighter and a bigger risk than Rios and Algieri, that's not even debatable. :lol1:
Clottey had no fan base :pat: Rios had far more fans and sold less against Pac because Pac's rep took a dive.
Casual dont know anything about CWs thats the point for them Manny was the terminator , when the CWs went so did the perceived killer instinct and Manny was once again the same fighter after the CWs as he was before them , his resume proves it , he ground out wins from constant pressure and power boxing , like Barrera went from a bawler to a very good boxer Manny did the same , its common in older mature elite fighters that they use more skill over brawn .
So if it's so easy to destroy people using CW the way Pac did Margarito Why couldn't Floyd put a dent in Canelo? Ask Bradley if Manny has power.
What popularity drop? Bradley 2 sold nearly the same amount as Bradley 1, the other guys were a step down in quality so of course they sold less.
He sold more fighting Joshua Clottey :lol1:
I don't think it would have been much different in terms of viewing figures. That fight was huge and anybody remotely interested in boxing and sports seemed to tune in anyway.
Plus a lot of people who watched it were casual fans and people who don't even watch boxing, they didn't even know or care if they were past time, as long as it was Mayweather v Pacquiao, that's all that mattered.
The fight would have done similar PPV numbers in 2010 though Manny and Floyd would not have made as much.
Plus keep in mind that back then the potential for more than one fight was there. If they had done a trilogy of fights overall Floyd would have made more $$$ as well as Manny and everyone else involved.
What about 2011 or 2012 before the brutal KO?
You guys are delusional. The 4.4m ppv didn't come from hardcore fans it came from casuals. Casuals don't give a **** what happened to Manny before, if anything the KO helped ppv buys. I remember his KO went viral it was all over facebook. In the end every hardcore fan bought the ppv anyway so it made more money.

Yea very stupid poll if you dont remember the old numbers..
The wait made the fight BUILD and BUILD and BUILD. All Manny neeeded to do was get a few wins again after that KO then it was back n bigger.
What was the min back in 2010? 40 for Manny, then 60 for FLoyd.
Then when they old men at late 30s in 2015, they generate 300Mill?? C'MON MANG!! They made a hell alot more than they would have back then
Only thing, it may have been a more exciting fight
Yes out of my personal friends that were going to watch it, five of them didn't because of this prolonged marination. That hurt Pacs reputation as a killer. Even I went from wanting to make a big party out of it, to not thinking it was worth the money and watching at my wife's uncles house.
(coff this guy thinks casuals know anything about CWs coff)
