Well can't argue there as its your opinion and each to their own..
People had the same opinion during Marcianos era and Larry Holmes era that the opponents weren't good enough and that's why I said it's subjective because you can only fight the best available in your division at that time.. Also, a lot of boxers get credit after they retire and Elad will go down as one of them..
Vitali really had one of the best chin in HW that I can remember.. Never been down pro or amateur.. Wlad is technically a better boxer and punches really really hard.. Vitali kind of lost his power a bit after he hurt his shoulder, but had a unique skill to predict a punch coming in.. Even Manny Steward said that Vitali is special because he knows every time where a punch is coming from and adjusts accordingly and it was pretty evident in Lennoxs fight as well..
Well we do agree on few things.. Cheers to that!
Just adding this as an after thought and in no means trying to be a snob but Wlad beat Ibragimov and Byrd and both of those guys beat Holyfield(older version) easily. It's just that some paths don't cris cross like Holyfield-Klitscho, Tyson-Klitschko.. But whoever beat Holyfield and Tyson past their prime got their jaw handed over to them by the Klitschko brothers.. How I wish Lennox and Vitali had a rematch!! And like Fury says.. "It is what it is really"..
Good point on Maricano and Holmes. I'll mention a few names like Scott Frank and Scott Ledoux, or how about Lucien Rodriquez. I'm an Ali fan but I saw the Jean Pierre Coopman fight. Ali looked great in that fight but let's remember he had Coopman in the ring with him. There were too many fights Vlad had against fighters who were in the Alfredo Evangelista type zone. When there was a hungry young bull in front of him who had power,,,,well look at the stats
I'm surprised you would actually mention the Holyfield Ibragamov Byrd analogy.
That's not being a snob, thats just pulling at straws to be technically correct. You me and everyone knows that a version of Holyfield with 5 pro fights would have hurt those guys badly. You know better!!!!!! :) even though through deduction you have a point.
Ha ha.
You make solid points. Of Course Vlad is and was skilled. He had a great jab too. He could hurt guys with one jab. What I said was that his opponents weren't skilled. Worst crop of heavyweights within the last 50 years. My thing is that he fought too conservative against weak opposition, which was smart in order to keep winning, not get hurt and not have another career killing loss. And that is smart boxing but his career was not memorable because of it. He had a German following like David Hasselhoff
Vitali in my opinion is top 5 heavyweight of all time. Nobody truly beat him period. And few have actually won rounds against him. He had a chin of steel, and he closed the show. He was the man in my opinion. I enjoyed watching everyone of his fights.
Vlad? Not so much.

Oh the irony..
Clinching & mauling!
Ali did probably more clinching & illegal tactics against a half blind near Cruiserweight in a losing performance!
MOREOVER Klitchko merely CLINCHES (= legal), whereas Ali holds the arms (illegal), grabs the neck (illegal), pushes the head down (illegal), and insults (illegal)
Lots of nostalgia & revisionism. Ali was a CAREER clincher..
Yes Ali later in his career clinched, I agree. Yet all of those fights with Frazier are classics watched repeatedly to this day. It wasn't as bad were the fans were upset and booing due to boredom. Ali fought. In the case of Vlad his tactics almost made his fights appear, I repeat appear, amateurish at times. I'm not saying he was a poor fighter or was amateurish, it just really sucked for me to watch that.
I have to say l've had some insightful and repectful reponses to my post. You guys are good and truly know your stuff. Not being sarcastic. I call it like I see it. Can't disagree with you's other than offer my opinion.
Style makes fights my friend, if you have seen any of Furys fights they are awkward & boring. I am surprised you only remember his loss to Sanders.. I rate Lennox highly than Holyfield because he has faced better oppositions, does that make Holyfield any lesser ?? No!
Coming to Fury v Klitschko - boring as hell! hardly anyone did anything interesting in the ring & one of the worst fights.. But is it how all of Wlad's fights are?? No.
For you to say Klitschko isnt skilled sounds really amateur.. because technically he is one of the best HW boxers.. Does he fight like a slugger?? No. Does he have to?? Not really, because boxing is more brain than brawn ( & hence the sweet science). Does he have a bad chin? Well.. not really, he was knocked down & not knocked out cold but he doesn't have a great chin.
Tell you what.. He underestimated Sanders going into the fight & Sanders could punch like a horse, but Sander won't last more than 10 rounds as he does not have a good engine, he was knocked out by Vitali,Hashim Rahman all within 10 rounds as he ran out of gas..
Steward changed Wlad into more a defensive & technical boxer & he religiously follows hit & don't get hit.. If you think that's bad style, then Mayweather wouldn't have been as great a boxer he is today..
Has Wlad faced greater opposition in his era? its subjective.. For example, Mike Tyson's resume looked good only until he met Holyfield & Lennox, then people started saying he wasn't the best & he had fought bums all along..
There is more to boxing than nomadic slugfest though it is super entertaining. Long rangy boxers need not slug, I can remember only Lennox being both slugger & rangy fighter but was much effective doing the latter..

Perfect post and a true bullet to the Klitchko detractors who are trying to paint Fury as some much higher quality in ring fighter .The difference between Wlad and Fury is one makes it look one sided and the other has to make it SEEM exciting because he plays tag ,i guess thats what ppl call more entertaining ? The only thing i can figure out so far here is they dont actually watch skill and are just rooting for their countryman which is o.k but dont tell me Fury fights are better because thats some b.s ,if i were blind and had to judge it on sound then maybe i would disagree.
Thanks yo! People dis Wlad because his fights are boring, it undermines the technique he uses to shut people off when they try to counter him.. Is clinching one of them? Yes. Legal? Hell Yes! If not for clinching no boxer could have sustained 12 rounds with punchers.. & Its not that only Wlad clinches(he does start it) but his opponents also start doing the same when he throws combinations.. I'd be curious to know what people would have called Fury had he lost the 1st fight.. Let me guess, a BUM :dunno:
Btw, your signature man Lennox Lewis is from Jersey City New Jersey USA is funny bro.. I used to live in Jersey City until last year man.. lol..
Hey, if you think he fought great highly skilled opposition, showed a great chin against Corrie Sanders, took many chances during his fights and had more exciting fights than Evander Holyfield then does that make one knowledgeable about the sweet science?
Good on you. Go watch Vlad and Fury again and Enjoy one of the greatest heavyweight title fights next to that great thiller when Vlad leaned mauled and clutched and grabbed his way past Povetkin . Sounds like you know a lot about the sweet science.

Yes but id rather watch Wlad knowing most likely someone is hitting the canvas hard.Furys best k.o is him holding someones head and hitting with illegal blow ,I think it was cunninham/ Anyway id rather watch Wlad mugg ppl than giant prance around the ring....Id rather actually also have Wilder who is not as balnced as any of those guys on the feet ,but at least he has an intensity to level you and a hard jab,not a weak one. im not basing this just on effectiveness im talking the thread topic as to why fury makes a better ,more watchable fighter...I don't see it. Id rather predictability than a guy who actually does need size to win. Wlad is true skills all around ,boring for some but imop I like watching him slowly batter opponents who have no answer for him. but each to his own.
For the record I do like watching fury fight but wouldn't be a top choice over some other HW's, i would actually watch him to see if he sings afterward moreso than the fight itself..i guess thats entertainment so it counts for something...ive also defended fury and do have him in my top 10 head to head but i'll leave it at that.
Fair enough. Can't really argue there.
I'm not sure i've ever enjoyed one of Fury's fights though. So much is talked about how entertaining Fury is out of the ring and not enough about what goes on in the ring.
I think he carries a lot of that personality into the ring with him and it colours the way people perceive his fights, for good and bad. I try not to expect too much of him because I never know exactly what I'm going to get, but I can see people getting frustrated at the disconnect between what he says he's going to do and what he actually ends up doing.
Trouble is, because Fury doesn't carry as much power as some of the other monsters in the division his most "exciting" fights are by and large the ones he struggled in, and also the ones he's most criticised for. Cunningham I thought was a pretty exciting affair, and the Abell fight was a fun slugfest. I also enjoyed the first Chisora fight for what it was.
Mostly I just enjoy watching him clown opponents with his gangly awkward improvised style. I like the incongruity of this big dumb goofous schooling the best fighters in the world and not breaking a sweat. He goes against everything we expect and I love that.
i wanna see the pikey tramp fat c0ckless norvuner get brutalized by david haye. but, as he had a close call in stayin "undefeated" by getting the perfect excuse to avoid haye then, i guess the big boring klit will have to do.
i mean, forget his what comes out of his mouth because he probably never went to school and in terms of boxing......really? i dont think i have to justify what weve all seen. hes gonna get bumraped all over the place!
4/5 months of eating dags n chips when draggin his ole woman about by the hair in the kitchen wont help him...nothing will because hes very cr4p.
we will all forget this bellend very quickly.
I think it's pretty clear that you never went to school either. The difference is, Fury is the lineal, unified HW champion of the world and a multimillionaire.
You however, are just a butthurt racist living on minimum wage.
The British would rather see Anthony Joshua as champion.
They already see his as the champion, everyone else is keeping his belts warm. :lol1: Greatest HW of all time.
Wow!! You seem to have quite some knowledge on the sweet science.. Good on you!!

His reign ruined the sport. Boring fighter with no chin, took no chances against opposition without fire or skill.

With Fury you never know exactly what you're going to get, so there is that. Wlad's fights are, without exception, all exactly the same. The only difference is what round his opponents go down in, or whether they make the final bell. A Fury fight might be a boxing masterclass or it might be a wild all-out brawl. It might turn out to be dull or sloppy, but you're never guaranteed predictability.

Yes because Fury is that much better because his fights are as equal to a pillow fight with watching a huge guy play tag as oppossed to either Wlad ,Joshua or Wilder who deliver brutal k.os ...can anyone really tell me inside an actual ring what Fury attributes bring more excitement then all 3 guys i just mentioned ? I would love to honestly know because im pretty sure even fanboys if they had to pick style and skills out of those 3 it wouldn't be Fury !

Sorry but most of the boxing world is done with klitschko and his incredibly boring reign in the hw division. Boxing is better off without him.

Time for Wladimir to take out the trash! The UK is producing some great talent at the moment especially in the heavyweight division. I am loving how Joshua is getting right back in there defending the belt like Wilder does. But before Wlad retires he should take out Fury and retire as champion then pass on the torch.
