Would anybody back Canelo to beat GGG

I remember when Floyd said he "sees no special effects" with GGG. Well, yes Golovkin has power, power, power as his special effect. He can utilize it not because he goes for broke with his punches, but because he can seriously box and set up his shots. The phrase "no special effects" applies to Alvarez. He's goodish, but he doesn't do anything great. He won't beat GGG, but he will definitely bring a good fight.

Well Floyd is light but he is very strong....Maidana has been the only one to really outmuscle Floyd and he is hardly the only one who has outweighed Floyd by more than 10lbs. Like i mentioned, Canelo is sometimes too willing to go in the defensive but Floyd was also avoiding every single counter and trap fired his way, so of course you're gonna back off from a man who is walking you down and hitting you while you hit air.......Golovkin is a big target and will get hit. Like I said, it will be a white wash if Golovkin basically feels Canelo's power and laughs, but have we even seen Golovkin get hit by a guy with decent power who can put hands consitently on him? No...he was super cautious against Lemieux and Stevens...the rest were non punchers or sucked compared to GGG... Golovkin seems to respect Canelo more than his fans... I'd root for Golovkin and expect him to win, but I'm banking it on him being tough enough when he really hasn't showed just how tough he is in the pro ring...you really don't know until they're in the ring. We have no idea how really good GGG really is he just looks really good, but I do have an idea how strong Canelo is and he just doesn't seem that strong. Went 12 with old cotto and cotto looks tiny compare to him, went 12 with old Mosely, and went 12 with Hatton who got stopped 3 previous times. These guys are career WW guys so I'm guessing his power won't affect GGG much. Only way I see him win is thoroughly outboxing GGG but I don't see it happening and I was planning on laying a large bet on GGG if this fight does happen because it's probably the best odd GGG gets in a fight in a while.

Canelo hasn't fought the comp that could possibly make me believe he can beat GGG. Even against B+ level competition he has only managed to get a SD twice. He'll be outclassed on the inside, which would be his best bet to beat GGG because from the outside he gets picked apart. a g string ball gagger carrying on about the level of someone elses competition. I'm not sure as of yet but I think I'm starting to lean towards Canelo, I know he is the better inside fighter and he won't have problems landing the heavy artillery from up close. I think the deciding factor is gonna come down to the fact that Canelo has been in fights, where as Golovkin really hasn't, as well as the fact that Golovkin's style does not age well and he's already 34. The moment he blasts his 5 punch combos on GGGs chin he wins the fight GGG has garbage defense and Canelo is a pretty good counterpuncher Canelos power will make GGG respect him and Canelo has a hell of a chin himself So yea Id say Canelo knocks him out within 6 rounds Yeah, right, right! I think he's a much better boxer, and that will be the difference. GGG's level of opposition doesn't necessarily prepare you for elite fighters. I could be wrong though.Won't be the first or last time.

The fight is interesting becuse both are untested against opponents of that style at that level. Canelo has fought 4 good opponents- Mayweather,Trout, Lara and Cotto. Mayweather, Trout and Cotto fought him going in and out of midrange while being defensively responsible for basically all of the fight, Mayweather really outclassed him in the pocket but that's what you get when you try to outfloyd floyd. I think Cotto and Trout are a good indication to measure Canelo's skill in that kind of fight. It's high. He basically landed all the better punches and was never hurt or hit with anything big, all because he has pretty good upper body movement and body placement to fire off counters and discourage the other guy from trying to overwhelm him. At the same time his lack of activity and killer instinct was apparent, even while getting the better of it, he never pushed the opponents to the brink and was even outworked for long stretches. Of course this doesn't seem to hurt him with judges. Not many people have been able to push Canelo back because he is accurate dishing out punishment on the opponents way inside. Angulo was too slow and unwilling to get caught with a clean counter so he just half assed the pressure and stayed at range like a sitting duck. Kirkland tried but has no chin....but he did have no problem actually cornering Canelo.....and Canelo's overconfidence in his skills make him take a defensive but ready to counter position too willingly. Back when Canelo was young he did have Larry Mosley pushing him to the ropes and getting on his ass, same as Lanardo Tyner and that gives you a clue into why he could be in trouble against Golovkin.....those fights where back when he was too young to have a noticeable physical strength advantage. And like I said, Canelo kept calm but he was easily put in the defensive and pushed back(arguably losing to Mosley), luckily for him Mosley and Tyner had no power. As far as pressuring Canelo can get aggressive and dish out combinations on his front foot but he doesn't sustain attack unless he hurts you before. As we saw with Lara and Mayweather, he was slow of foot going forward and too concerned for getting countered....There's little chance he's gonna have to chase GGG anyway. As far as Golovkin, we see what he does, he has a good jab outside, he gets hit sometimes, he has good skills going forward and he dishes out punishment body and head......i don't know how far back to go with Golovkin when judging him because he has really modified his style....i think the ouma fight is the last golovkin fight where he showed something different...he had great activity but didnt show brutal power, he had horrible defense but he also showed great drive, stamina and wasn't hurt but Ouma can't punch. His skills outside are good but i have never seen him in a high speed chess match in mid range... he usually just puts out his jab and tries to deliver a power right or left hook to back the opponent. I think the weight and the ring size will determine who I pick to win. A fight below 160, in a Vegas standard 20x20 ring, I will take Canelo by UD because I don't know if GGG would be the same at 155-175 that he is at 160 at his age. If it's 160 or they fight in a smaller ring, like an 18x18, I'd take GGG.

I don't think it's a mismatch at all. Lemieux is so one dimensional that I don't take GGG's jab performance against him all that seriously. Canelo is pretty damn good when his opponent walks him down. Obviously his stamina will be in question though we've seen GGG hit a lot by a lot lesser fighters (Monroe, Rosado). Canelo is getting better. I think he's reaching his prime now. It looks worse because they are obviously ducking him for the time being. When it comes to making the actual fight though, I see Golovkin only having a slight edge.

Canelo doesnt last ONE ROUND with Gennady. I would bet LarryXs life on it. Watch.

I think Canelo is the 2nd best middleweight in the world and GGG is the best middleweight in the world. I think GGG would beat Canelo and knock him out. That is no disgrace for Canelo because GGG would KO every middleweight fighting today in my opinion.

Canelo doesn't have the stamina to keep doing those kinds of combinations to keep Golovkin off of him. Even then, his power is okay; he's not really heavy handed, just more so explosive because of his speed. Moving up won't help him either with that. Canelo may have more "flashiness" to what he does, but Golovkin is on another level. I wouldn't bet against him.
