Junior welterweight titlist Terence Crawford signed a contract to face Viktor Postol in a unification fight on Wednesday, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum and Crawford manager Cameron Dunkin told ESPN. Minor issues remain on the Postol side, Arum said. The fight, one of the best that can be made, will take place July 23 on HBO PPV at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Looks like Arum will be testing out Crawfords PPV value. No mention if he is the headline fight. But this lines up with the rumors of Bradley having a PPV in July as well. Bob is probably going to stack this card with names.
This is a fight between two guys who could be the best at 140. It shouldn't involve this much negotiation and back and forth. Put it on already, jeez. Everyone thinks they're Manny or Floyd or better still, Lewis or Tyson.
finally! I would pay the ppv price for this fight alone regardless of who is on the undercard hell I'll probably fly out to vegas for this fight.this is a true 50-50 fight between the two best fighters in the 140 pound division and two of my favorites.
yea man...i'm streaming this or catching the replay...fvck this shameless money grab
Can always go to a bar like I'm planning to. Lol at the guy who thinks this does more than Pac-Bradley 3.
The ppv is a tough sell. Hardcore fans might mean it when they say they want the best fights, but are they willing to pay for them?
It might be worth experimenting with however...if they stack the undercard, provide a streaming option, forego the cable companies, and price it well, I'd buy and also for the sake of other promoters getting an idea. Boxing news and media is pretty much internet based anyhow, why not move some fights in that direction, even ppvs. The advertising revenue becomes different....I'm actually having a tough time trying to imagine how they can guarantee the fighters a good purse.
on PPV? are you fvcking kidding me?
seriously, fvck boxing right now
I wouldn't pay for it out of spite and I can definitely afford it. It's sickening when the fights that are suppose to build someone to PPV stardom is ON PPV, the sport is stinking.
I just hope Crawford and Postol negotiated good guarantees.
If the rumours of Bradley being on the card are true then great, but seems more Arum's style to try and put someone like Ramirez or Verdejo on the card to target the Mexican or PR fans.
I agree with you, I bet he puts Valdez & Zurdo on if not 1 or the other.
gtfoh!!! crawford is becoming a star? to who? the black community and the few people in omaha! show a little more respect for a legend like manny.
Because he does't have all the antics BRONER has, you don't consider him a star?
Crawford-Lundy averages 982K
Crawford-Gamboa 1.2M
Crawford is in my top p4p guys and his skills are up there. He is becoming a star and the way you market a star is by promoting the heck out of them. PPVs promote the hello out of fights this will be no different.
I don't wanna see names against mediocre opponents. If Bradley is on the card I want to see him fighting the likes of Brook or Garcia. I don't wanna are Bradley vs Vargas II. I want to see Lomachenko-Walters. I'll probably buy the fight because I'm stupid and buy every PPV. But I want to see a stacked undercard with good names against good opponents.
Crawford vs Postal
Bradley vs Brooks
Lomahenko vs Walters
Now thats a PPV worth 50 bones
...................
Lol at this being PPV....it won't even make 25K buys
I don't know when this mind set changed for some boxing fans?
Who gives peeeeep about the buys??? We are here for boxing I think buys are the last thing a real boxing fan should worry about. By the way, this is a great fight for true boxing fans. :boxing:
i actually had a dream that crawford KO'd him in the first round, he hurts postol with a right hand, postol can't recover goes against the ropes and crawford attacks till the referee stops it
Lol I'd love that. I can't stand how postol fights.
