The highly-rated American enhanced his reputation with a fifth-round stoppage win against Chris Algieri at the weekend and called for a clash with IBF welterweight champion Brook. But the IBF has informed Spence Jr that he must face Konstantin Ponomarev in a final eliminator for a shot at Brook's title. "Errol Spence is the No 2 contender. "We just ordered Errol Spence and the No 3 contender Konstantin Ponomarev to start negotiating for the eliminator for the No 1 and the mandatory position." Konstantin Ponomarev is another unbeaten contender Spence Jr has a perfect 20 fight record, with 17 stoppages, while Russian Ponomarev is also yet to suffer a defeat in his 30 fights. Brook will not have to start negotiations for his next mandatory until October and can make a voluntary defence against any other contender within the top 15 of the organisation's rankings.

hearn must have made a trip to ibf headquarters to make sure spence was blocked for awhile. same kind of trip he made to make sure guys like bizier and jo jo dan somehow became mandatories.

Brook's Gavin fight was in May 2015. Thurman's last fight was in July 2015. Go figure. Funny part was, Brook called out Thurman right after his Collazo fight. That's not what we were discussing. You said he chose Chaves over Thurman which was absolute bs. Do you know that Gavin was called as the #1 contender and Brook took that fight on 8 weeks notice? :thinking:

They all have crappy resumes because it takes years to see them fight each other. Brook would rather fight Rios or Chaves, for example, even though Thurman was available. The same is true for the others. Even now promoters have extremely difficult time making them fight each other. All i am saying is i would love to see Brook fight these other top ww's man Oh, 100% agreed on that. Unfortunately, getting those guys to step in the ring with him (or any other top WW) is proving difficult.

I remember a while back someone asked Thurman about the prospect of fighting Spence and he basically said that Spence had to prove himself, like Thurman is one to talk...

Brook's resume has been a joke for quite some time but Lets no pretend Thurman or Porter are proven, Thurman's best win is over Guerro and Brook has already beaten Porter. It's funny because none of these guys are really that young so they should all have better resume's than they actually do (I include Spence in this as well). They all have crappy resumes because it takes years to see them fight each other. Brook would rather fight Rios or Chaves, for example, even though Thurman was available. hearn is always lying constantly. spence is dying, begging for a brook fight because he feels he has the style to very well run over brook. haymon doesn't have a history of not making fights that his fighters actually want. hell. deontay wilder is going to russia for goodness sakes. hearn is a big fat lie can't be trusted and will say anything to throw the heat away from his fighters. I would believe some bum like you over the guy who's speaking to Haymon on a by-daily basis.

I see major flaws in Spence, he makes mistakes which will not help him against Brook. Well hopefully Spence get past his next foe and the Brook fight gets made so we can find out.

Every fighter/boxer has flaws. It comes down to whether or not his opponent is capable of exploiting those flaws. I have not seen enough of Brook to say he could. Base on the 4 fights I have seen I think Spence wins I see major flaws in Spence, he makes mistakes which will not help him against Brook.

Brook will have moved up by 2017, he's already complaining about how hard it is to make 147. He's only sticking at the weight because of the money. Spence fight has to happen this year, imo, Hearn should call Spence's bluff, offer him the fight, no need for an eliminator and get the fight done an dusted Spence isnt proven, but it could have a Jeff Lacey type of effect, whereby if Brook beats him, he gets rated across the pond. Spence has more buzz than Lemont Petterson. Brook then can fight the winner of Thurman Porter...there will be much more demand for that fight Spence is green, i see flaws and i feel Brook knocks him out with a right hand within 5 rounds. Brook should bite the bullet. Every fighter/boxer has flaws. It comes down to whether or not his opponent is capable of exploiting those flaws. I have not seen enough of Brook to say he could.
