Anthony Fowler (Middleweight) could make it nine in a bit. Pat McCormack (Light Welterweight) unfortunately lost in the quarter finals to an Armenian named Bachkov. However, it seems that he'll get another chance to qualify via WSB in May, which is lucky because he's just been named WSB "Boxer of the Regular Season" and has been in good form in that format.
Anyway, it looks like a strong team, even stronger than the last (although we won't have home advantage this time obviously). Who do you expect to medal?
Dont know what to make of Joyce sometimes. He seems slow as molassas but he has that awkward grinding mauling style which makes him a nightmare to fight
If he has the stamina and chin for it, that style would be fun in the pro ranks with smaller gloves.
Fowler i feel is a little overrated, but hes got a chance of medalling. Cordina looks good. Okolie looks class and im interested to see him in with the best. Tough division for him though.
Looking forward to the Olympics :boxing:
There's 7, no one really counts women boxers lets be honest. Congrats to the UK & the UK boxing fans doe. Thats a great number already with the more difficult qualification process these days + still some chances to add another guy or two potentially.
it's 8 now with anthony fowler qualifying earlier. hoping it'll finish at 9
Is Joyce any relation to the Joyce's from the movie Knuckle? Assuming so, but looking for confirmation.
i haven't seen the film but i doubt it. he's a mixed race londoner with an art history degree
Anybody see the Okolie fight? I'm telling you, he's one for the future.
Team GB all the way. I'm going to Rio and can't wait to feed all of you bums with the pictures.
Who I expect to medal?
Nicola Adams
Anthony Fowler
Lawrence Okolie
Probably Joe Joyce as well - he's pretty good.
Yafai probably also.
joyce, ali and yafai are the best bets imo
i'll be disappointed if mccormack doesn't make it as he's my favourite to watch. and i like cordina a lot too, although he's in a tough division
don't really expect fowler to get past lopez, alimkhanuly or melikuziev at MW
