What? Even if you were just talking about in HW I disagree just because of Tyson. I mean honestly, Tyson is probably the most recognizable sports figure in the world and AJ might look like the goods but he was no young Tyson.
Still, AJ can and will be huge and I disagree with him moving to the states to train or live. Who in the states is training good Heavyweights? And better living? England is awesome as are it's fans. AJ might not be american but he's from the UK. Just as good if not better (Fury and Haye being around only helps him) especially with how well boxing is doing right now in the uk. He's the next golden boy and outside of Canelo he's probably the only other "sure thing" due to his nationality. He should definitely fight in the states but he needs to also fight in the Uk. It's too bad that Wilder is mis promoted because that could he a rivalry for the ages but AJ is already a bigger name. That shouldn't matter though as long as Wilder keeps winning Americans will eventually back him by default. Being at HW also means that if he can get a few defenses in, a loss wouldn't ruin him. Every heavyweight gets caught at some point and he already has a title so as long as he DOES successfully defend it he can't be seen as a flop to the casual fan. Gold medal, HW strap, knocks guys out, AND isn't an eastern european? I'd be shocked if he didn't become a pillar for boxing in this generation.
Pac (maybe) and Floyd may be gone but we are left with guys who can take it to the next level and they all have guys they can fight in their prime who are killers.
Lomachenko has a ton of fights with top notch fighters in range that could make him a star (Leo, Walters, etc)Crawford has 140-147 with a bunch of guys who CAN beat him, some who Im not sure id even favor him over at 147 (Kel and Thurman come to mind). Canelo is between 154-160 and he has GGG (could also be a star) whom if he beats would make him an even bigger star. Ward and Kovalev have each other. Heavyweight is indeed interesting now that Wlad isn't ruling with an iron fist. HW was always interesting but Wlad was like a god in the sense that there was the HW division and then there was Wlad... We all knew whoever emerged as the second best hw was just a sacrifice for Wlad because we all had that sense of "too bad wlad exists" and could never put our faith in anyone til he lost and is old
A great looking young heavyweight with charisma could rule boxing for a long time and become the biggest draw in sports. Never understood why Mayweather was a success. Joshua posses the skills and charm needed to become a superstar and boxing biggest draw. Boxing needs a great heavyweight champion. These little midgets half men munchkins fighting under 160lbs do not offer much. Canelo the exception. Joshua in America would be a Superstar. In England with no real pro sports there are no sports. Only in America could Joshua reach the pinnacle of success and gain the world like recognition a champion deserves.idols and heroes.
Not since 1960 has boxing had a superstar with the potential of Cassius Clay and Joshua seems to possess the skill and looks and charm of being another Clay. Unless living in the UK screws up Joshua and hampers his career path then the future seems to be with the skillful talented Joshua. England isnt' the USA and Josh would be advised to move quickly to the States to enjoy every opportunity of better living and training conditions and more lucrative contracts.

a loss at this stage would hurt him, he can come again though.
he can be the new Bruno
My thinking is that he could be the new Bruno if he turned out to be not quite as good as we hope.
Doubt he is ever in a bad fight.
And that support already is unreal. He could sell out Wembley fighting one of us, Ffs.
He should do really.
Even if he was to lose the odd one I am not sure it would hurt him that much. He seems so resilient.
Stiverne would be my choice for the next opponent. Even as a zombie he took Wilder 12.
Joshua deco needs that. Though nobody would be surprised if he smashed him early too.

First congratulation to Joshua for being world champ, he does have a bright future ahead but like Lennox pointed out after the fight is that he is not the finish article and fury and hayes would be too soon for him next. I think an Ortiz, Pulev, Parker or Stiverne would be a good test for him. I would expect him to beat them but would help him improve as a fighter.
Lets not forget that Charles Martin would not have been champion is an other era of heavyweight boxing.....
Lennox Lewis also said that Joshua-Martin was fifty fifty, and also said it was too soon for Joshua to go for a title.
He was proven wrong on both accounts, so why should we take his opinion on issues concerning Joshua seriously?
Unquestionably.
You're looking at a man that is simply a promoters dream, Joshua is one of those very rare guys that can transcend the sport.
Olympic gold medalist, World Champion, undefeated, 100% KO ratio, hugely exciting, well spoken, always classy, built like a superhero...the man has absolutely everything and is very much on the path to mega star level. He's already a huge star, but he's got everything required to become a larger than life star in boxing.
Joshua will always have haters/critics because he will literally knock everyone out that he faces.
Don't know why people think Haye even stands a chance. That guy will start running for his life after one of Joshua's punches land.
Same for Fury. Joshua is a good, smart boxer and moves well for someone his size, Martin even complained about how Joshua's right was so fast that he didn't see it until he was on the floor already.
Even if a guy outboxes Joshua, he only needs one or two shots to equalise everything, and there is no way Joshua doesn't land one or two clean power shots in a three minute round.
The only threats to him are the other KO artists like Wilder and Ortiz. We don't know how Joshua's chin holds up against that kind of concussive power and we don't know how much heart he has when he gets KD. If however it turns out both heart and chin are solid, then it might be possible that the only guy who can beat him is himself, coz I don't see any of his fights going the full twelve rounds.
Joshua seems to be the next Ali with looks and style and skill

Until he fights and beats a legitimate heavyweight, the jury is out. He looked extremely robotic and ordinary one fight before this and Charles Martin, was a complete disgrace who looked like he took a dive. Let's see what happens when the "Hayemaker" lands flush, then we can determine whether or not he's the real deal.

Charles Martin would not have been champion of this era if it wasnt for a ibf bull***** decision to strip Fury and then a freak accident where Glazkov took himself out
What's your opinion of a legit boxer? Someone that has to put the rounds in to win? It's not AJs fault he's the cream of the crop an makes it look easy ... An as for steroid use lmao ... Lucas Browne gets found out for using a fat burner but AJ wins the IBF in biggest fight of the year on roids? Rigghhhhttttt , that sounds 'legit' don't it

joshua looks legit to me, but then again charles had the belt gifted to him. so many intriguing match ups in the heavyweight division. now we have fury, wilder, joshua, browne, parker and ortiz in the mix!!
Doing steroids and fighting bums is the road to success because you become a cartoon character & the mainstream media notices you.
Legit boxers barely have a chance anymore.
