I believe Team Canelo and Oscar's strategy is simple, to stall the Golovkin fight for as long as possible. They know that it will have to happen eventually, but they want to use every excuse in the book to wait as long as possible to increase their new cash cow Canelo's chances.
Here's why: They (and most boxing fans) know that if Canelo and Golovkin were to fight today, Golovkin would likely be too much for Canelo. BUT, Golovkin is 34 years old, and whether we like it or not, physically he has already peaked out and will soon be declining, little by little. Canelo, on the other hand, is only 25, and still has another year or two to grow. I believe that even though Golovkin would beat Canelo today, the difference isn't as big as some people think.
If they were to wait another year, the difference would be even closer. Give Canelo another year and a half to grow and let Golovkin get even older, and it might even become a 50/50 fight. And then you throw in those corrupt judges and referee that Oscar has in his pocket, and the only possible outcome in this super fight is a Canelo victory by decision.
The "155" madness and all those demands are just a ruse imo. Team Canelo have absolutely no intentions of facing Golovkin this year. They will wait and stall until late 2017, and then fight Golovkin at the full 160 limit in a super fight for Middleweight supremacy.
Sad part is, Canelo is the biggest mega star of the sport at the moment, so his team holds all the cards. Those in power know that Canelo is the future of boxing for many years to come, while Golovkin is on his way out.
Boxing is a business.
Canelo is the bread maker. Do things his way or you don't get the fight if you're GGG, simple as that.
Boxing has always been that way. There are no special placements that are made just because GGG is "popular" among boxing forum members.
It's beyond popular, it's rabid amongst forum nerds. It's as if Lil G was the next coming of Thomas Hearns, when he's more so the next coming of Thomas Morrison. But the rabies the fan base has doesn't allow them to see it.
People are going to have a rude awakening when they start to find out that Canelo isn't this PPV megastar they paint him out to be. The truth is he needs a big name opponent to sell high PPV numbers. Khan is not going to cut it and we will see the usual HBO and Golden Boy inflate the actual PPV buy for Canelo-Khan, being a Mexican holiday and all this fight isn't going to sell just like the September PPV versus Lemieux won't sell either.
If Canelo is a huge PPV megastar he has to sell more than 600k PPV buys and let not include the PPV buys from the UK just US and Mexico.
Here's the thing, if the WBC strap was the be all end all he wouldn't have allowed Cotto to fight Canelo instead of him or Canelo to fight Khan instead of him. Sure he wants the belt, but the bigger prize is a career payday. He is just shy of 35 and has no other prospects of that big of a payday or any other PPV fight prospects other than Canelo. Canelo doesn't need him at all, he is the draw.
We all know how this will go down. Canelo and GBP will let GGG that its 155 or no fight. GGG will take another step aside fee and there will be another joint announcement from K2, GBP, and the WBC that they all agree that the fight will be bigger in May of 2017 and both fighters will make a voluntary defense.
GGG dozen or so fans on this board are so gullible.
He's 13 months away from 35, relax.
If that is their strategy it can't possibly work unless the WBC completely reverses their own ruling. The WBC said Canelo has to fight GGG next or forfeit his title to GGG. Once GGG is the WBC middleweight champion he has what he wants and doesn't need Canelo anymore. Sure, he would love to fight Canelo for a big payday and a good potential win. But once he has the WBC title Canelo can't dictate terms to him. GGG can turn down a fight with Canelo if he doesn't like the terms and make good money defending his middleweight titles against other fighters. Canelo is 25 years old and a fully grown man. He will get better but he won't grow bigger. GGG is a dedicated athlete who takes care of himself. You don't know GGG is on the way out. He isn't that old. He could remain in or near top form for many years to come as much as that would piss off his haters. GGG is only two years older than Ward. He is 3 years younger than Pacquiao, 4 years younger than Mayweather and 16 years younger than Hopkins. GGG just might continue knocking everybody out for many years to come.

Camelot is the local panderia, bread man, his ability to draw money, allows him the power. Floyd fought him, PAC should fight him too!! Do it PAC, knock that sh1t eating grin off carrot top if you can, or... Go to sleep... If you think Marquez hit ya hard... OMG!!

Candela doesn't honor his mandatory obligation and he gets stripped of the belt. Would Lil G have liked to earn the belt by crushing that Ginger toolbag in the ring instead of receiving the belt due to Candela's cowardess? Sure he would but he'll take it any which way it comes.
I'm sure Lil G knows that he'll catch some grief from the haters saying that he was "gifted" another belt but everyone will know that it was only because Candela's balls hadn't dropped yet and I'm also pretty sure that Lil G could care less what the his detractors have to say anyways. That is exactly right. GGG has always been very clear about his goal being to completely unify and dominate the middleweight division. Once he is WBC champ he has what he was after. If Canelo wants to fight later GGG as champion can dictate terms including 160 pounds and fight location and tough sh*t if Oscar doesn't like it. GGG will just give another fighter a title shot instead.

So if that's the case then why doesn't GGG call Canelo's bluff, take the fight at 155 and embarrass him at his own weight?
Canelo has been pretty consistent, he wants the fight but he is only fighting anyone on his terms. He has proven he is a draw and now that Floyd is done and Pac is almost done he is on pace to be the biggest draw in the sport. He gave up weight to get the Floyd fight. Floyd did it with Oscar. Pac did it with Oscar. Bhop did it with Oscar. Cotto did it with Pac. GGG may be older but he hasn't earned the right to call the shots with his resume. He needs to give something to gain a lot.
Or Canelo could give up that belt as is only right, then when ready challenge the undisputed champ. Maybe even at a CW but doubtful 155. That's screams "I don't want it"

A Floyd?? Floyd went from 130 straight to 135 to fight the Lineal champ not once but 2 times...Floyd never made up his own weight class
Real Larry he is talking about older Floyd. Young Floyd was a beast older Floyd was a beeotch.

He's going to wait for GGG to be out of his prime before he will fight him.
Kind ofmlike when Floyd moved up and than decided to retire for awhile and let all the big dudes beat each other up, or like when he waited 5 years to fight pac.
He pulling a Floyd.
He's pulling a Floyd for sure.
Which is why I won't buy his fight with Kahn.A Floyd?? Floyd went from 130 straight to 135 to fight the Lineal champ not once but 2 times...Floyd never made up his own weight class
