I don't love his style in the ring and there's a lot of time for 'injuries' or other shenanigans but I'm happy to see someone out there who literally wants to fight the best fighters in their weight class. Ward is chasing Kovalev. It's provisionally booked in for November. He's mentioned Stevenson too which at least is something.
Where's everyone else at?
if you are the division boss I have no beef with you but what happened to fighters looking to prove they were the best? Is everyone too busy for Rigo, GGG, etc, etc? It don't make sense? What about proving you are the best?
He's not considered exciting in the ring but Ward is the one guy making me excited about boxing this year. 2016 is looking dim but he may actually save it from being a dud...which is completely the opposite thing he's done over the past 2 years. I'm rooting for him (and Kovalev, really).
It would be one fight bro he would be in the same place he is now. Fighting a can at 175
I'm starting to think you don't understand what's going on or how boxing works.
Well it's not saying much, lots of guys at Lhw get ranked 3 with a Ward scalp. But yeah, not a bad fight and possibly Wards toughest opponent since Froch, when you factor in the weight
Exactly.
Barrera is not coming to play; he's coming to KO Ward. Hoping for no headbutts, excessive clinches, or disqualification.
I haven't been following this story much. Who's the ref? What were their weights today? Thanks for your time.
Sorry, I really can't see your point. He tried to get Golovkin, even said to go ahead with Lemieux because Ward would be willing to wait until after that. GGG didn't want it. There was literally no reason Andre to wait around for GG. Ward could have pulled a Golovkin and hung around a dead division but he sought greatness at 175 instead. Where would he be now if he was fighting more dead weight at 168? GGG still wouldn't take the fight, claiming Canelo is a bigger fight, and people would be ridiculing Ward. So, no, I don't see your point. No disrespect though.

That's what I was getting at. I give him a good chance to win. Ward has been inactive too long and lots of rust to shake. I'm curious to see how he handles this really hungry lion in a new division.
Can't wait.

Probably 3, behind Kov and Adonis, depending on manner of imaginary win

He could have done that on BET, but it'd probably be at 172 CW anyway cause he's not sweating down to 168 for 2m
No but I think if he was serious he would fight at least once at 168. I see your point but you can see mine too

Stevenson, Beterbiev, Fonfara no brainier. The check the Ring top 10, and you can make an argument for 5 more. There's better looking prospects coming up, and Barrera is barely past the prospect stage
If he beats Ward tomorrow, where would you place him?
Because Golovkin's crew would not let him get anywhere near Andre and when the contract was faxed, team GGG rejected it in under 1 hour with NO attempt to negotiate whatsoever. No counter-offer, no discussion, NOTHING. Was Ward supposed to pull a Kahn and waste 2 more years begging?? GGG didn't want it so Ward went after bigger fish. No time to waste when you're coming off a 3 year layoff.

I get your point. People like Pascal and Stevenson are considered ahead of him. But I think Kovalev finished off of whatever was left in Pascal. I consider him shot now.
Hopkins? I hope he never fights again.
What else is there?

Gtfo with number 2. The guy has one fringe, top 20 win

And, by the way, I'm not a Ward or Barrera fan, but I could be based on what I see tomorrow.
He was mandated to fight the winner of Cotto-Canelo. Is he fighting either of those two? He dropped his mandatory. Try to sugar coat it all you want but this is the third time he's dropped his mandatory. Canelo has 15 days....blah blah blah. Where have I heard that before?
He is Canelos mando right now so how could he have dropped it? Why is Canelo embarrassing himself in the press daily? Sorry bud, your argument hit a dead end
Hey redd if AW was serious about fighting GGG why did he move on so quickly and why did he not come back at 168 instead of 173?

I have Ward winning, but "easy work" it won't be. This fight actually isn't a tune up, fighting subpar opponents. He's fighting someone who can be considered number 2 in the division, just behind Kovalev. So, we'll see.

He didn't have to drop his mando. His mando was supposed to be this spring. But he ended up dropping it anyway. And he's still not getting the fight. If team GGG showed any interest they wouldn't have come back with a 164 or no deal. Loeffler even admitted he didn't think Ward could make 168 anymore and when asked if he didn't think Ward could make 168 why offer him 164. Loeffler changed the subject to he really didn't offer Ward 164 it was just a back and forth email with Rafael. So we were right back at where we started. Ward sent over the offer and Loeffler rejected it without thought in less than 5 mins.
What? He didn't end up dropping it, Canelo has 15 days after Khan to agree to it or turn over the belt. If Ggg is contract bound to a fight in the spring (as the RN guy was explaining) they move on to next mando, in may
As someone who likes both guys, I like the fact that Ward is moving up. He cleaned out 168, beating Kessler and a future hall of famer in Froch. When you clear your division out, you should move up.
Lets just hope Ward looks good tomorrow! I think he should make easy work of Barrera

Wha? You clearly didn't understand what I said. This had nothing to do with Canelo, nor was there even much discussion of that yet. You're clutching onto a hard bias and throwing the word "objective" around as a means of hiding it. It's pretty transparent.

Even if Ward loses to Kovalev, I'm still cheering him until he retires
True fan here props to you! Not manny around here like that. When GGG fights ward and loses I'm still going to be a fan of his
