The level of boxing dropped DRAMATICALLY in last ten years. Totally agree.. Remeber a decade ago or so when the p4p list was made up of guys like Lennox Morales Barrera Prince Roy Tarver Tsyzu Oscar Shane Tito Winky Hopkins Vargas Forrest Calzaghe Marquez Freitas Casamoyer Castillo Corrales Plus manny and wlad on the rise The blue chip prospects Juan diaz cotto Hatton Dawson Taylor

What do we have? HBO is willing to pay only to stars. Haymon collected three quaters of all boxers and they are overpaid for fighting bums twice a year. We can get only three decent matchups in next years, and it's very likely that we will not get all three. It's not dead, HBO and others are just adjusting their economic model, which for years was out of hand. The days of fighters getting overpaid to fight bums is coming to an end. Guys will eventually have to fight tough opponents or not make money, and PPV's will have to once again be stacked from top to bottom if not they won't sell.

Geez man. Boxing is always "dead" or on the verge of it according to you people. Get over it, boxing will never die because when it's good, it's the most exciting sport there is Word. You are completely right.

No way man. There are always peaks and dips in general interest, but it never goes away. Boxing always has highs and lows, it flows generation to generation/era to era. Sometimes it is up on a high and there is a busy scene with a lot going on, sometimes it seems quiet and slow but it never actually stops does it. It has been around in some form or another since God knows when, it endures. Just in our lifetimes alone boxing will seem huge at some points and on the floor at others, and all the points in between, it is just the way the sport goes. It is unlike the formality other sports with leagues and tables with scheduled seasons that are laid out every year etc...It just flows from one era to the next - some high, some low...A lot of it is subjective too. One person may claim that the scene today is dull, where another person may feel enthusiastic about it.

I have to agree, boxing has lost its luster for a while and the super fight or bore of the century May vs Pac hurt the sport even more\

The talent is lacking. Still great fights to be made. Yes, the talent is lacking but it would be alright with a kind of ufc politics. But with bunch of promoters, channels, with all that "i want right money" is very hard to get good fights

Boxing is dead and it deserved to die. No other business (I refuse to call it a sport) in recent memory has consistently swindled and conned paying customers with the regularity that professional boxing has. The few times it manages to attract an audience beyond its very meager niche, it only serves to remind everyone just how much it stinks and how utterly worthless it is. Boxers deserve to be broke and begging for pennies on street corners. And the best thing is, most of these gutless turds will be in the near future.

The scene is on the up for UK & at an all time low for the Americans IMO. Deontay can put you on the map if he dispatches Povetkin (which I expect him to do). At least you still have the best active fighter, Andre Ward.
