Plain and simple , do you think he is overrated or the real deal. Personally i think hes a good prospect but isnt ready at all for guys like Ortiz,Wilder or even Fury.
Is he overrated?
Yes.
But that's on us as fans - heavyweight boxing has lacked excitement for so long, someone with the potential of AJ suddenly becomes the third coming of Jesus.
There is too much hype around him, sure. I'd like to see more defense and footwork though.
Casuals want to see the KO streak continue and that's all we are going to get until he faces someone who can give what they get. I'd much rather see at least two fights of his next say.... five, completely outclassing his opposition before considering going for a knockout.
Saying that he DOES seem to have a level head and his work ethic is incredible.
He hasnt had the competition yet to really evaluate if he is the saviour.
Only Whyte showed some resistance and he hurt Joshua for a moment. We have to see what he will learn from this experience.
He has height, athleticism and power, throws more than one punch at a time and has a killer instinct.
Until now I am not really sold on his defensive capabilities and his footwork.
We still need to see him perform against opponents who either have good footwork, know how to apply pressure or are slick.
I believe, The Fury from the Klitschko fight would box circles around Anthony at the moment.
He has lost 1 round in his pro career, because he made an amateurish mistake. Everyone judges him on that round.
The has fought by a country mile the highest level opposition of a current new heavy.
His 15 opponents have clocked up 330 wins at least 6 fighters who had never been stopped before, with 3 world title challengers.
It took wilder 30 fights to get to the same number, it took Mike tyson 26.
He is not ready for Ortiz, Haye or Fury. He has had 15 fights and they are experienced Heavies.
Wilder is not going to last much longer. He is very poor. If he let Joshua in like he has with other fights in the last 3 outings he wouldn't last a round.
After Martin is done with him, Joshua will have to take his steroids and go try to be mr universe because it will be clear boxings not for him
Nah not gonna happen. AJ's knees are granite.
He won by default. He didn't beat any top ten guy.
He beat Tom Dallas though. Mad props for that. :lol1:

Martin beat one top ten guy. Joshua hasn't beaten a top 30 guy

depends who you speak to, i suppose. i think sky sports and matchroom are overrating him, but i guess it's their job. he's dangerous for sure, but i think he's pretty deeply flawed too
Joshua is basically what would happen if any of these kids with real and legitimate aspirations of playing in the NBA or the NFL (not pipe dreams like Wilder) took up boxing in their late teens. He's a genuine athlete in a sea of slobs and fatties, and that alone will be enough for him to get by.
Stay bumble and enjoy the ride, m8. Big Josh is the best thing that happened to this sh*tty pseudo sport in a long time.
What a load of rubbish.
He's one of the most underrated today
can someone remind me how he deserves a title shot?
How does Martin deserve a title shot?
Joshua is going to decapitate that big stiff oaf.

I'd say, so what if he is? It's bringing casuals on board with the sport again here in the UK, and that's fine with me.
If Charles Marton had no belt, and Joshua fought and beat him, people would say he's knocked over another can, unproven, needs to step up. Now he's got that fight (except with a belt) people are saying he's rushed it? The mandos for ibf are pretty poor anyway, look at welter, jojo Dan, bizier.. So the risk to reward for this fight makes perfect sense. Being a gb fighter winning gold at the London Olympics has indeed captured the people's imagination, and why not. He's got age and image on his side (unlike Harrison who was turning pro age 30) and if the hype train derails, he'll have done much more good than harm for his own bank account and British boxing in general
Yes I'd say so. Absolutely he is overrated as of right now.
I don't think much of Joshua personally I think he is stuck in the mud, no footwork at all. A big, rather basic, bolt upright heavyweight with decent power. I'm not saying he can't come good but he is very raw right now.
Then again with that said you don't need an awful lot to succeed at Heavyweight these days.
When people say he's the best in the world or one of the best then yes, he is overrated. When people say he's top 10 I would agree. He is exciting in much the same way as Wilder is and that's why fans overrate them. They are good at ko'ing cans, have a good physique and they get carried away thinking that translates to world level when it doesn't
Given level of opposition, wildly overrated. The potential is certainly there and he hasn't looked bad. He just hasn't earned the hype because he hasn't beaten anyone decent yet. Same could be said about most heavies but it's worse with Joshua.
