There was a recent debate about whether the majority of fans bought Floyd Mayweather Jr's fights because they wanted to see him win or lose. So what about it, fans?
I think mostly for the last few years I've wanted to see him lose. Not because I don't like him as a person (I don't) or as a boxer (I still enjoy his clinics, even if they're a little negative) but because it would be a "where were you?" moment. I thought Maidana did enough for a draw and that was a really exciting fight the first time round. When people really push Floyd you get a good night.
Well i enjoy boxing, and while not all of his fights were entertaining, if you really love the sport of boxing then you should appreciate how he could control a fight.
That, and the fact only a few of his fights were PPV in the UK anyway and PPV here for a Floyd fight is much cheaper than USA. So it's not like it was much of a financial decision so i don't mind paying that small amount to watch the sport i love.
I didn't pay for any of his girly dance offs/dry humping contests. Pull up one of those interviews with Ray Mancini online and he basically stated that people didn't pay to see Floyd, they came to see and support the fan fave opponent, ex. Pac, Oscar, Canelo. And this is true. Just look at Floyd's last show, the so called "face of boxing," as his ardent sycophants on here proclaimed, didn't even crack 750k, it was a disaster.
Floyd is nothing but a 2-bit hustler
He should thank Al Haymon for fixing his fights, otherwise that saps family would be visiting him in A&E every other fight.
Butthurt detected.

I want to clear something up. I have talked a lot of shit about Mayweather, and for good reason. You guys know what I'm talking about. I do however, respect the young brother in some ways. He's made a fortune in boxing, he has a style that is very difficult to beat, he loves his kids. Of late, he's been more humble, and seems to be a decent human being deep down. That said, damn, couldn't anybody beat this mo fo? Just once? ONCE??:lol1:
You had me Rollin....at least you were honest....I followed him early on, honestly thought he reached his ceiling around JLC 1-2....everyone was talking about he can't handle pressure, then he reached his prime and filled out @ 140-147 and kept dominating. The year he beat odlh and hatton it stamped in my head. I can't see anyone beating this guy. Thought he'd have took an L if he was fighting past 35. Nope MFer still ain't lose lol
Because I enjoy watching high-level boxing. I only bought 2 of his PPV's tho, the rest I either streamed or went to a bar or watched it at someone else's place.
I wouldn't say I payed to watch him lose but the 2 PPV's that I did buy of his I didn't think he would win (Mosley & Canelo).
What about none of these options?
What about, I am just an amateur boxer who studied Floyd for years and incorporated aspects of his game into my own?
That's my answer. Same reason I follow all the fighters in my sig list honestly.
I like them all as a fan, but I also study them and take things from them and add it to my game.
Ah, a student of the sport. Right on.
