Seems on here that to outbox someone you have to be completely defence minded, throw minimal punches, and throw no power shots or combinations.
Now to me this doesn't seem right.
Outboxing someone to me is winning rounds without hurting your opponent.
Didn't Fenech outbox Nelson in the first fight
Didn't Hatton outbox Tszyu ?
Boxing is HIT and not get hit.
Not, not get hit and then maybe hit if it's safe to do so.
Hatton wrestled Tszyu into submission.
well that's outboxing it seems. you got people saying postol outboxed and schooled matthysse because he held him nonstop. these people are either being disingenous because they hate certain fighters like matthysse, ggg, etc... or they truly believe holding=good boxing. eitehr way its sad.
that's you whining like a baby because Floyd beat Manny.
You can't outbox someone when you never mastered the art of boxing. Floyd, mastered his craft, as have other fighters. Manny didn't.
you can't move the goalposts for the rules of boxing. sorry you don't have that much power. you can master your craft and still lose a fight because your opponent landed the claener punches. something you won't admit. manny landed the much cleaner punches hence he was outboxing floyd. sorry you can't oubox someone when you are just barely grazing them and your opponent is hitting you flush. all the angles, footwork, hand position nonsense is just that nonsense. an excuse to explain why a guy who was outlanded in clean punches deserved to win. unfortunately the rules don't agree with you at all. that's why i say being floyd mayweather is the true way to win. no matter what he does he's winning. your posts confirm that. he can land the more accurate clean punches while being outworked and he wins. he can not land the more accurate punches and still win. he's the incredibly maluable fighter. the rules adapt to him!
Outboxing is when one of the boxers both mentally and technically superiror to the other one. He won't get frustated, he will be using angles and techniques and defeat the one who has possibly more brute force than him. Also they'll be able to talk, walk and do stuff when they get old unlike the ones who willing to take blows on head.
If you care for your brain you should.

my way is being floyd mayweather. that is clearly the best way to do it.

problem is your way doesn't always work when you are in with someone better than you.
Every job has one thing in common-mastering your craft makes it easier to succeed, especially when the situation is difficult.
If you don't know how to box, you can't outbox someone that does.

that sounds too complicated. my way is a lot easier to understand

See daggum, if you actually work on your all aspects of your craft, you can actually outbox someone.
If you can't do things like cut off the ring, work off your jab, have poor footwork, poor defense/hand positioning or do something like stop combination punching midway through a fight hoping to land one killer shot, you will never outbox someone.

how to outbox someone: be floyd mayweather
how to get outboxed: fight floyd mayweather

Sure you do go read them on Wikipedia it's states Clinching is illegal it's used only for a short time Floyd looks like he holds for dear life specially against Madaina. It states the ref can deduct points for excessive clinching. I don't when you became a fan to boxing but I've been watching it since the 70's and yes I have seen refs deduct points or disqualify fighters for excessive clinching so before you continue to post retarded post I suggest you read the rules
so.....he held the whole time, yet outlanded him....its ok, give the man his credit and move on...when did he have time to throw....he was holding the entire time right? Why didnt Maidana run him over? Because he was getting hit and was getting tired from exerting himself and getting countered
crybabies on this site man.....
i know the rules. Just sound like a bunch of grown men whining and making excuses. Its so unbecoming.

Most fighters get warned for excessive holding or clinching but a selected few are allowed to break the rules. You need to read about the rules in boxing about holding

You hit and don't get hit back, or at least constantly get the best of your opponent in exchanges and make them miss at least half of their punches. It really is that simple.
why do people on this site act like clinching isnt a part of the sport.....Mayweather aint John Ruiz'...he mustve beat one of your favorite fighters recently???
Fighting out of the shoulder roll, you hardly clinch. Clinching is a part of the tactics to make an opponent reset and to break the action and their rhythm
Every fighter in history has clinched. Especially when you're hurt or the fighter's best chance is inside...you are supposed to disarm them, not just stand and take turns hitting each other.
Whitaker hit off the break and held behind the head while throwing uppercuts...thats illegal...Excessive clinching is illegal....clinching an opponet with your back to the ropes or they are too close is not....If Hearns knew how to clinch he'd have beat Leonard the first time around.

Landing a few more jabs than the other person = SCHOOLED!
Clinching someone so many times.
Headbutting your opponent until their opponent eventually has to quit yet you suffer no punishment.
Boxing School.
Dude you obviously dont watch alot of fights. Whitaker stood inside the pocket alot more than Mayweather and slipped punches. He didn't hold near as much and he hit harder. Mayweather was probably better at one ounch accuracy but that was it. Plus Whitaker fought better fighters too. He wasn't afraid to challenge or put in extra advantages for himself.
None of this is true Lol And you keep lying about holding! Again, when did Floyd start doing that? In his last few fights when he was old as dirt?
When Whitaker slip punches? In a small handful of fights? Where he ALMOST looked as good as Floyd? I remember him getting his azzwhipped doing all that bobbing and weaving because thats all he can do! He was flash and no substance! He looked sloppy when he slipped against Oscar, and was stumbling all over the place, with his feet!
Maybe he did slip shots more than Floyd, because Floyd has more options! He will counter, step aside, duck, slip, shoot backwards on his feet! Floyd isnt a defensive specialist!
He's a fullblown tactician who cant get hit! Like an athletic version of Ward or Hopkins!
And challenges? Mayweather is ALWAYS at a disadvantage! He is ALWAYS 15lbs lighter than his opponents, with a power disadvantage! And dominates on pure skills! Facing giant young fighters!
I dont think I have ever seen a fighter like Floyd, and Pernell is an awful example!

you do realize before floyd fought at 147 and up his ko ratio was like 70% while sweet pea fought in at 135-154 and has a sub 50% ko ratio....17 kos in like 45 fights....he didnt hit harder than Floyd.
As far as better.....who was his best Opponents? Mayweather beat more champions and hall of famers than Him...Buddy McGirt and Chavez are not better than Pacquaio, JMM, Mosley etc.
