I havent followed the Ward-GGG saga in detail and cared even less about it when Ward moved up. I do remember that Team GGG wanted Ward to come down to 164 but just read they'll fight Hopkins at 168....So they wanted to drain Ward but want the old man coming in comfortable.
Guys tell me this isnt reall
Wow what an incredibly contradictory post you just made here!
In your first paragraph, you literally talk about this being "prize fighting" and fighting for money, completely excluding boxing as any sort of sport at all and it's all about making money, legacy be damned ("legacy doesn't pay the bills").
Then you literally go on and say golovkin should go fight some one worth a damn after you just explained why anyone worth a damn isn't fighting him! Holy shit I haven't seen such a contradictory, hypocritical post like this in ages. Further, if this is "prize fighting" and "all about da money", under your logic why should Golovkin do that and not simply follow the PBC blueprint of low risk/high reward?

Now hes gonna try and explain why its ok to demand that GGG has to fight for legacy and not worry about money because he needs to fight a name fighter. But then hes gonna say that nobody with a name should fight GGG because he doesn't bring any money.
Floyd drained nelo but was happy to fight dlh at 154. I don't understand why this thread was invented!
Floyd was the A side versus canelo
Floyd was the B side versus de la hoya
See the difference. The B side has no say so
I'm not sure what part of my post says anything about Kovalev not being more dangerous for Ward, that goes without saying. As for the matchup itself, Ward will have a good size and reach advantage to make full use of his boxing and grappling skills. GGG will have a tough time, but well schooled Russian boxers deal with slick fighters pretty damn well, so I suspect he will find some ways to land.
A tune up is fine. Ward hasn't had a meaningful win in over 4 years. Every big fight that comes up is prefaced with "a couple more tune ups first". His competition over the last 4 years is worse than GGG's. Obviously he needs to ease his way in, but how many years and how many fringe contenders does he need to eat before he is back at the top level of competition? I'm hoping within a year.
Ward is better than old man Hopkins in almost every way, but Hopkins is as experienced and cagey as a fighter can be, has a great chin AND most importantly, he didn't fight to win. He fought to survive. I fully expect Ward to come to win, that is exactly why he is going to get knocked out.
GGG last 5 opponents are who? Lemieux, Monroe, Murray, etc
Wards are smith, Rodriguez, Abraham, froch and Dawson
GGG has not been in with the level of ward period
Proof is in the pudding
Ward cut from a didn't clothe than anyone GGG has fought also Kov...kov best win is hops n Pascal... Ward beat
GGG don't have much proof or has he fought a Kessler, froch type...elite
Coming to win is a bad thing lol
Anyway we'll see
You Golovkin fans are the biggest bunch of cowards ever. Always an excuse for his bum fights.FUK off you imbecile. there is no bigger coward than that red head who is lineal champion at 160 yet he picks on super lightweights and claims he's not a middleweight while coming in at 175 lbs on fight night. you canelo fans are a joke
How am I lying? There is a deal in place that Golden Boy/Canelo have 15 days to to accept the Golovkin fight after Khan or drop the belt/get stripped. This is the deal brokered by the WBC between Golden Boy and K2. Obviously they don't literally have a set date, venue, and contract in place to fight. Follow along.
which means they dont have any deal in place at all hahaha thats not a deal that was ggg taking a step aside fee not to enforce this same exact scenario months ago what makes u so sure it will happen when all u hear from gbp is they need to wait longer to make it worth it. i mean seriously how many times have we heard that since cotto beat martinez only to have ggg take a step aside fee and no mando was ordered
stop with the fake outrage the ward fight was never going to happen you dimwit too many variables involved like ward wanting ggg to wait over a year so they could fight.dont worry ggg is a bum according to you so hopkins should school him easy.face it hopkins would be the best name on ward's resume.
50 year old hopkins would be no where near the best name on wards resume dont be ridiculous
Kovalev is more proven than GGG and bigger, stronger with comparable skills....he is a bigger threat than GGG is to Ward...anyone with a brain knows that...IMO GGG has no chance versus Ward and would get thoroughly outboxed....Ward is better than GGG at everything besides power....thats the only thing that might the fight intriguiing to some...outside of that what was he gonna do, outbox Ward? Yea right
what fighter you know, who had a career threatening injury, doesnt have a tune up, especially with the lay off he had....you cant be slow.
As far as getting crucified in the ring....Did Hopkins get kayo'ed? Ward is just as skilled, younger, faster, better combinations, better jab and hasnt lost sense he was 14 years old....if you think he is gonna just lay down when this guy has fought his whole life, you need to re-evaluate somethings

Hopkins comes down 8 pounds, GGG moves up 8 pounds. GGG proposed to moved up 4 pounds and have Ward move down 4 pounds but Ward doesn't know how to compromise and decided to move up to his natural weight of 175.
Easy, one guy is fair while the other is selfish and picking on smaller opponents.

Context is important here, Mayweather didn't have much negotiating room when he faced De la Hoya because he wasn't the A side. Once he earned the A advantage he utilized it to the fullest.

I get that, was correcting another poster who claimed all these guys couldn't bother since they had bigger fights
People need to understand that GGG came late to the party. Politics rule boxing and the trio of Martinez-Cotto-Canelo was going to happen first. That doesn't even mean that GGG will not get a piece of any of them, it means that his turn was prolonged until those 3 finished doing business. Now it's GGG's turn later this year. There was no ducking done, there was business being done. Just like GGG's willingness to fight Froch, Chavez Jr, Hopkins at 168, but Ward at 164(or basically no Ward at all). He claims he's a fighter and that he's not into business, that he is not a businessman. But he understands it pretty well because he did it himself to Ward, and does it to Lara. K2's reason for not wanting Lara, which is well documented, is because Lara doesn't bring anything to the table(except the best name on GGG's resume).
great post man and thats the way I see it

Pretty ****ing spot on.
I like GGG and think he is 10 times better than Ward. I don't know what trolling is except in regards to deep sea fishing. I am a GGG fan and he has lots more fans than Ward for obvious reasons. If I like a fighter and he is getting unfairly trashed I am going to stick up for him. If that's trolling then I am trolling and tough sh*t if you don't like it.
Trolling is a person on the Internet who nas nothing but negatives things to say about a person or a subject....for instance a person could jump into a fire rescue 5 kids and a dog and that troll would still find something to criticise ....just negative things to say because they don't like them....you don't troll you just say what's right and speak ur mind for it...nothing wrong with that fella..even if I don't like a particular boxer ..say for example mayweather or broner....I still would not start a thread downgrading a fighter or subject....I will comment on a thread if I think it's wrong. ..but a troll starts a thread just to get a reaction.....thanks for the message fella
Strange, you quoted my post but didn't reply to a single thing in it. Care to actually respond to my points or nah?
Like Canelo? Who he's actively trying to fight (they have a deal to fight next after their upcoming bouts).
Like Saunders, a title unification fight, in which Saunders flat out rejected.
So that leaves his mandatory fight. You understand that right? In order to get around a mandatory is to have a unification fight (Canelo or Saunders), both declined so he has to fight Wade. This is how the IBF works (see Tyson Fury).
Dude, everyone wants him to fight an elite fighter, Golovkin wants to fight an elite fighter, K2 wants him to fight an elite fighter, he's been trying to fight elite fights. How many times does it need to be explained to you? Sergio Martinez said no. Cotto said no. Canelo wants more time. Froch said no. Ward rejected a golovkin fight a couple years ago and most recently, when he contacted GGG after the Lemieux fight was announced, he wanted a deal to fight sometime late 2016 (a year away contract). So literally he hasn't had a chance yet to fight an elite fighter. He's trying and hopefully will in Canelo after the Khan/Wade fights. Until then there isn't a damn thing he can do but fight his mandatory.
2 words.....MOVE UP!!!!! Thats what every other so called boogeyman or avoided fighter did.....seems to me K2 is happy making money off him fighting no hopers because casual fans or his hard core fans will eat it up whether the opponent is good or not as long as they see a ko
Benard hopkins is a 51 year old fighter that hasn't fought in a year and a half.
he has never fought at 168 and he hasn't fought below 175 in almost 10 years.
this is a cherry pick for ggg. Don't try and spin it any other way.
anybody with common sense knows its a cherry pick...a recognizable name, past prime and ripe for the picking...coming off a loss and inactivity

It's not Ggg that's pushing for this fight, it's the last resort for him. Hop wants it, and his buddies at GBP are not talking sense into him cause they need a human shield for Canelo
Of course catchweights are a part of history, usually they are methods to get two guys in two different weight classes to fight each other by "meeting in the middle". Like Whitaker vs Chavez for example and the countless others. When done properly they are great.
But unfortunately we are living in a time when no longer are catchweights simply a means to make a fight between two fighters in two different weight classes, instead they are being used so that a particular fighter can create an advantage just for him, like Canelo for example who is not fighting at 155 pounds in order to make big fights, he's fighting at 155 pounds because it's the most comfortable weight for him and on top of that, he's now defending his lineal middleweight belt at his own made up weight class and requiring future opponents, from welterweight to middleweight, fight him at his weight class.
For a guy who pretends to care so much about boxing history, it's funny that you are perfectly ok with this absolute fuckery and joke that our sport is becoming, where it's no longer about the sport itself it's now about everyone trying to become the "A-Side" and what kind of A-side money & A-side demands they can make.
its called prize fighting genius...they fight for the money, entertaining is nice but at the end of the day legacy and fans dont pay bills, raise kids, or take care of you when you're punch drunk
Just because I dont agree with how the game is doesnt mean Im oblivious to how it works
GGG should man up and fight someone with a pulse....not a geriatric old man when there are plenty of fighters who'd fight him from 154-168...its all about who his team wants to put him in with.
They are trying to build him as a star and monster without having to fight elite fighters and fans and the public are smarter than that...its put up or shut up time and he is going on 34 years old
