People don't seem to give lewis any credit at all for beating tyson senseless, but how far was tyson from his prime during that fight, percentage wise?
My basis of my argument is facts....lewis is better all round...on the competition he beat and also his legacy....Tyson don't come anywhere near his legacy and that's what my opinions are based on....in 1996 he had a chance to fight Lewis and paid to avoid him...and yet when he wiped seldon out and beat Bruno easier than he did in the first fight.....he sure was considered to be near his prime.....Lewis beats Tyson any day of the week
The basis of your argument is when they sparred each other as amateurs, their resume's and when Mike was way past it. You know Tyson was the most feared man in boxing in his prime. Sure, he peaked and fizzled out rather quickly, but at his peak, he was a bad man, period.

He was a bad man against mediocre fighters that's it......no more and he has no victory over an in prime ATG heavyweight and you basing your views on Tyson beating tomatoe cans means nothing.....a short prime and resume fed with low rate heavyweights....we can all knock bums over or old Larry Holmes...you talk about Tyson being past it.....he was 23 when he lost to Douglas ..he just met his match ..that's it...Ray Leonard was way from the ring for over 3 years and was on Coke and alcohol..Tyson was shown to be without ideas even when he faced Tucker or bonecrusher.....I told you before anybody can look good against cans which Tyson did.......resumes are built on who they beat and how they beat them....Tyson 2 notable wins were a light heavyweight Michael spinks and an old Larry Holmes that's it....he couldn't get inside the defence of Tucker,Mitch green, tillis or bonecrusher and they were cans compared with Lewis ...or don't you remember those fights.....Lewis beats Tyson every time....to big..to clever
Exactly how did he have edge over LEWIS when he never faced anybody as good as LEWIS.....kind of stupid what your saying isn't it......go back to the history of LEWIS and tyson and when they sparred and your see LEWIS controlled the sessions after 1 round.......no fighter tyson had fought before he went to prison was the caliber of a lennox Lewis ....it's just facts, now you like tyson and that's your preference but on every level LEWIS surpassed tyson .....tysons legacy will always be taking a loss against the top noses on his resume

Here's the thing, I never disputed Lewis' greatness. My point is that prime Tyson had the edge over prime Lewis. He was further developed and focused, & he was a vicious animal by his own admission. When Mike lost his focus, he lost his edge.

Tyson was done. He had been living off his name since he came out of jail in 1995. The heavyweight division was just starting to go downhill at the time and he benefited from the lack of big name fighters for Lewis. They had a plan to build that fight. Gave Tyson a few soft touches to build him up. He hadn't been a prime fighter since well before the Douglass fight, probably the Ruddock fight.
Having said all that there was a moment in the first round where I though maybe Iron Mike was coming to win this thing. But then Lewis found his timing and it was all over.
Lewis is regarded by educated folk as one of the top 3 heavyweights of all time now...he proved it...his resume proves....he won the world title 3 times...beat fighters who Tyson struggled with ease....Olympic heavyweight champion ...retired undisputed champion......Tyson was great but nowhere near as great as Lewis .....his fight record proves it son

The pre-Steward Lewis gets destroyed by Rooney trained Tyson. Look at the McCall fight and how easily McCall countered every jab Lewis threw. Countering the jab was the young Tyson's bread and butter.
Finally! Someone who understands and will admit that prime Tyson was a monster, and pre-Steward Lewis didn't know how to use his height or protect his suspect chin. Green k!
You brought Williams up. Tucker took Lewis the distance too. You're like a woman, just arguing for the sake of arguing. Pull your panties out of your snatch.

Just stating facts..Lewis toyed with him....in fact there use to be clip on YouTube after Lewis koed him and Tyson was talking in his dressing with his baby in his arms saying he could never have beaten Lewis....look I like Tyson and I like him even more now with his honesty and respect he shows ....but he could never have beaten Lewis.....and that's the way it is...stop being a fan boy with pictures of your idol....that's a sign
Douglas was the only one to defeat Tyson while he was in his prime years, & even then, an undertrained, on anti-depressants and God knows what Mike dropped him. Any HW can be rocked, and Lewis got rocked plenty of times. You act like Tyson would have been defeated by Holyfield, Lewis or Danny Williams(!) while in his prime. I offer that while Holyfield may have still beaten him, a young Lewis couldn't hang with a young Tyson & Williams wouldn't have even gotten in the ring with him. You say that you like Mike, but you won't admit that for a minute, he was a bad motherfucker.
PS: "Uneducating"? :lol1:

that sums you trying to compare Lewis to Williams lol.....Tucker rocked Tyson, ruddock took him all the way. Mitch green, bonecrusher, tillis....the we have Lewis who Tyson ducked and paid him 4 million in 1996 to avoid him.....Lewis beat holyfied, he beat Tucker and dropped him twice. He smashed ruddock in 2 .....u need some knowledge in your brain....Lewis beat every fighter he ever faced, Lewis beat ruddock, mercer,Tucker, tua,Holyfield, klitchcko,Morrison ,Tyson, golota and every other heavyweight that mattered...his record far surpasses Tyson because Tyson lost to any fighter who could give it back...Tyson did not win even one round against Lewis....he bullied him like he was a child ....He played with him and that's the way it is...Tyson was even younger than Lewis lol...go search it when Tyson sparred Lewis when Cus was alive at the Catskills .....not what if or maybe ....Lewis handled him with ease

There really was no prime Tyson. He had great technique when he was with Rooney but he had not yet physically entered his prime. When he entered what should have been his physical prime his technique had so deteriorated he wasn't even close to the fighter he had been.
Don King had an interest in making sure that his fighters worked with **** trainers.
Do you want me to post Douglas,Holyfield,Lewis or Williams Koing Tyson ..you chose or shall I post all of them..or Tucker or Bruno rocking him....or paying 4 million to Lewis so he avoided him and giving up his WBC belt ..undeducating person trying to post a video of A fight when I was actually there in person watching...Lewis avenged his defeats...Tyson only revenge was biting holyfields ear or trying to bite Lewis's leg....look at the facts and accept Tyson got beat by any fighter who could take his shot and then come back.......fact get over it

Two names: Oliver McCall. Former Tyson sparring partner. Before he lost his mind, he destroyed a prime Lewis in 2 rounds. Mike was in jail on that trumped up rape charge. Tyson had 4 years experience as a pro over Lewis and was destroying everyone in sight before Douglas. Lewis had not yet teamed up with Emmanuel Steward and didn't protect his suspect chin in those days. Prime Tyson would have destroyed prime Lewis, at least as badly as McCall did.

Getting the better inside of a Carl Williams or Jose ribalto is not the same as a Lennox Lewis......your photo alone says your a fanboy...I like Tyson but he was limited and would never have beaten Lennox Lewis

Look at his early fights, when he was focused. He moved well, and avoided many punches. He was able to get inside on taller fighters and deliver devastatingly accurate, powerful punches. Your dismissal of his being incarcerated for over 4 years and his admitted drug abuse and failure to train having a profoundly negative effect on his ability to perform- Now that's rubbish.

The bottom line is when he faced a world class heavyweight he lost...end of subject...Michael spinks was tiny.....Larry Holmes was old...tony tubbs was fat and pinklon Thomas was a ex junkie..those are the facts.....he avoided Lewis and paid step aside....he went like if or death with razor ruddock ..who Lewis destroyed in 2 rounds....knocking over weak heavyweights is not knocking over Lennox Lewis ....his resume will always how when he came up against a really decent heavyweight he lost .....it's not what might have happened it's what happened so get over it silly boy
