how could you possibly be? It's been atrocious.
I still feel like he's the freshest and best of the established welterweights. Pacquiao I guess is by default but I think Brook would whoop his ass badly.
bradley - Let's see. before his last fight when he looked like a baby deer against a guy with 5 kos or something not many said he was the best.
Honestly, it's hard for me to say if Pac would win or lose to the young guns in the division. He hasn't fought for a year and he's not exactly a spring chicken. Bradley-Pacquiao 3, for as monotonous as it sounds, is going to show us a lot about both fighters.
I think Brook got the goods too, but I need him to step it up. I'm not a fan of his opposition since he beat Porter

Another one I was going to mention, Carwford. This guy looks like the complete package, kinda reminds me of young Floyd. Seems like a cool guy too.
Hopefully both he and Spence invest more in defense as well and fight late into their careers if they choose, same as Floyd.
They are exciting fighters; they need to tighten their defensive skills.
Yeah the kid's got the goods. He's going to dominate 140 for quite some time, IMO
SMH, what exactly has Spence done? Who has he beaten? His resume beats out Bradley's? Beats out Brook's? Beats out Thurman's?
Nah, he looks promising but beating up on cans isn't the same as facing "elite" level guys.
That's the sad story of the middleweight division now. Not one elite fighter on the current middleweight champion's resume (I'm not talking about Canelo).
I got what you are saying.
If Bradley beats Pac convincingly, I say he is by a long shot. None of the other guys have done schit really. I mean Brook is pretty is good but what has he done since the Porter win? Absolutely nothing.
Thurman has been beating up on old dudes and guys too slow to take it to him. Porter is good but he can be outboxed. Garcia has done anything meaningful at 147 either. Khan beat Algieri which is a decent win but that win carries very little weight at 147.
Pac is still the #1 guy and Bradley #2. If Bradley takes him down, he is the best option to take the reigns.
Good post. I agree with most, but not sure about Bradley being number 2 right now. They all seem like contenders next to Pac, even at this late of his career.
Unless Pac is totally shot, I don't see Bradley beating him. I had 10-2 Pac in their first fight. I gave Bradley 2 rounds. He was outclassed! So, not sure about Bradley being #1, even if he beats Pac. I'd attribute it to Pac being past retirement.
Do you think Bradley can beat Spence?
Hard to say because they won't fight each other.
I would choose Pacquiao by default. The winner of Pacquiao/Bradley would be at the top. Then Brook and the winner of Thurman/Porter would be next. Khan and Danny are next. These guys need to fight each other though.
^This.
I want to see them fight eachother first.
So far we only have Porter fighting current top 10 guys, no one else is fighting. Porter already fought Brook, and now fighting Thurman. Even if Porter loses, at least he's fighting the top 10 guys. To be fair this is Thurman's 2nd top 10 contender as well, he knocked out Chaves but Chaves is not ranked anymore. Bradley is fighting a top 10 WW for the first time since his Draw with Chaves. Pacquiao just fought Mayweather in his last fight. Khan pretty much non-existent at WW, Brook fought Porter in 2014, DSG just came up and fought Malignaggi and Guerrero. The last 3 guys are up and comers. So yeah, they have to start fighting eachother.
Spence is the best welterweight in the world right now in my opinion. He has fast hands, power and accuracy in both hands and combinations. He is a wicked body puncher. He has a good defense. He has the killer instinct and ends almost all his fights by KO. His ability to take punishment seems very good. He doesn't get hit with bombs much but when he does get hit hard it has no effect on him. He has a good work rate and makes every punch count. I know he has yet to beat a top 10 world rated welterweight. I am very confident he will beat them all when he fights them. I would pick him to beat any welterweight in the world right now. Today. Brook, and Pacquiao would be a tie for 2nd place best welterweight. Thurman, Porter and Bradley are a tie at 3rd place best welterweight. Garcia and Khan tie for 4th place best welterweights. This is just my opinion and I have no argument with those who disagree with me. Nobody knows for sure how they rate until they fight each other. Thurman and Porter and Bradley and Pacquiao are about to fight each other in good, evenly matched fights.
The best post so far on this topic. Good analysis and breakdown.
Yeah he does seem to have a big frame. Him and Crawford are my favorite prospects

Spence is the most special fighter I see around these weights. I think he would move up to 154 soon. He looks like a big welter to me.

I agree it's still Pac to me. And I agree Spence is my pick to end up being the best out of the rest of the guys.
