I think that all talks about this upcoming boat miss one important aspect - Kovalev's jab to the body. It can be easy for Ward to close distance or counter jab to the head, but jab to the body is the whole other story. It's mush more difficult to avoid. Actually it's a perfect instrument to keep the distance. We could see it in the Hopkins fight and today in the rematch with Pascal. So the question is - how will Ward be able to close the distance when Kovalev will use his jab to the body?
Who saidanything about clinching or wrestling, I said he has to make it a rough inside fight which is actually allowed in boxing.
Yes when you're not holding your opponent, grappling on of his arms and so on.
There is a reason why a lot of people compare Andre Ward to Bernard Hopkins you know.
So he needs to engage on illegal clinching/wrestling moves this is the only way a so called P4P 1 fighter can win?
Damnnnn!

Ward's jab is superior than to Kovalev.
I see Ward's traditional super speed thrust jab and clinging to Kovalev every 3 rounds. Making Kovalev look inferior. For every time Kova attempts jabs Ward is going to answer in fashion where people forgot how fast the 6footer can be.
Yeah, yeah.....after Ward feels two of those jabs, he won't even want to try to get on the inside again for fear of getting ko'd.
Would be funny if the fight gets stopped due to an accidental headbutt as the two fighters were trying to throw the jab to the body at the same time.
I think Ward is quicker and more crisp with his jab to the body but it's a very good punch for both guys, Ward HAS to make it an ugly inside fight if he wants to win, he can mix up of course and move a bit but for the most part he can't give Kovalev the distance that he needs to land his bombs, the same game plan also applies if he was to fight GGG, get in their chest and make it ugly, wear them down and dominate the last couple of rounds to win the decision, Ward has to come extremely strong to this Kovalev fight.

Ward also has an excellent jab to the body.
Exactly, looking at the title I thought this thread would be about who would win the battle of the body jabs.
