It's my favorite division because:
1. All fights can be made. No network or promoter politics prevent any of the major fights from happening.
2. There is no catchweight BS. Guys are fighting at 40 pound weight disadvantages in some instances.
3. All of the top fighters were outstanding amateurs.
4. There is a solid mix of great veterans and up and coming talent.
5. The title holders actually WANT to unify and fight each other.
I'm looking forward to some great matchups being made in the future.
Number one is the biggest to me. The Heavyweight division seems to have the least amount of political bullsh.t preventing fights. I'm excited to see who gets matched up this year :boxing:
Yes? No? What do you guys think?

Just because Fury jumped in the ring doesn't mean much. Yea he's pumped some life into the division but the quality of the fighters in the heavyweight division is lacking big time. I agree with one poster who said in the foreseeable future belts will be changing hands quite often until someone of substance comes along to change that. . And the belt changing hands to me that doesn't make a division great, it just mean there is no real sustainable quality in the fighters. Which in turns make the division not that good.
As far as chisora calling someone out, big woopeee.
Outside of fury fighting wilder which too me pits one guy with decent skill abd little power who is a giant(fury) vs a grudely skilled power puncher(wilder). Sounds like a clashes of epic perportions. Outside that fight there is really no other heavyweight fight that will get the masses excited. So once that fight gets made and is over the division will be more dead than pacmans career.
Yeah because other Divisions are doing so much better right? Talk to me when other Divisions do the same or better. These other Divisions can't even agree to fight each other because they hiding behind Managers, Promtoers and Networks. At least Heavyweight Division are trying to fight each other and so far none of them are using the "Network, Manager or Promoter" excuse which seems rare in boxing today
Heavweight Division have the best schedule so far because it has the top fighters fighting each other: Fury vs Wlad II, Wilder vs Povetkin based on boxrec which so many on this forum live by, that is #1 vs #2 and #3 vs #4, which other Division is doing that right now?
Not for me, I prefer the Flyweight division. Two of my favorite and most talented fighters in the sport can be found there and you have some serious talent in and around the division.
I second that...They are willing to fight each other and the fights are exciting
Ranked guys fighting each other all the time and champions from 105 and 108 getting shots too
Heavyweight has got a much needed injection of excitement and new blood though
I've always been a big fan of the Klitschko brothers and have been watching their fights for a long time. That being said, it is more exciting again. Because there are American beltholders? Perhaps, but I have no problem admitting that.
Think back to the late 90s and early 2000s when the heavyweight belts were constantly cycling. It made for a hugely exciting time in the heavyweight division. If American and UK sports media collectively care about the division at any given point, it is great for the sport.
Point is that there is a thread about it. Imagine what would have happened had this thread been done 3 months ago.
Anglofication much?
The HW landscape has changed pretty dramatically over the past few months, with some US/UK fighters on the up, so naturally people are going to discuss it on a boxing forum.
Depends on what you mean by "best".
The HW division has become exciting again because the hug and lean style seems to be obsolete (thanks TF, you'll always get credit from me for this at least) and there is enough novelty in that by itself to spark some interest from those of us that had pretty much given up on it.
The other good thing is that it appear more likely that the better men will fight one another than in some other divisions.
However, imo, the skill level of the top hw tier on a pound for pound basis is far below many of the lower weight classes.
My .02
I think it will be by the end of 2016
What will separate the Heavyweight from the rest is exactly what happened on Saturday. Fury jumping in the ring and taunting Wilder to his face, Chisora showing up to Martin Presser and issuing a Challenge, I think the Heavyweight Division is on the right Path.
No direspect to Wlad and Vitali, both was nothing but pure class during their legendary careers but classy is considered "Boring" by simple minded casuals
Well no one has agreed with the OP so far and even he was only asking the question lol

HW is hardly ever the best division in terms of having the highest number of P4P fighters. But there's just no getting around the fact that it's the most exciting, interesting division in boxing right now for the vast majority of people interested in boxing.
Only hardcore fans get all pumped for a Loma-Rigo bout lol. I like the WW division and it's probably 2nd in terms of fan interest. I think top to bottom Cruiser and LHW are the best divisions in terms of talent..
Talent wise, I would say no, but the problem is we have a lot of deep divisions, like Tom Cruise pointed out, but no one is really fighting each other. So while i personally feel that WW, JWW, and CW are the most talented divisions in boxing, its hard to argue with someone that may feel that the HWs are the best atm until people actually start stepping in the ring.
I can hear that. The bolded is how I feel about the welterweights too. It's time they started fighting each other and I hope Thurman-Porter is a step in that direction

I was just gonna say that, I never said it was the best division in boxing, I was simply asking if others felt that way.
