If Floyd believes what he's saying about GGG, why encourage Ward to fight him ???
Mayweather should be encouraging Canelo, Jacobs, Saunders and any other talent in and around the Middleweight division to fight GGG...
Once GGG unifies the division and the hype machine is in overdrive, call out GGG at 154 ....
Assuming GGG beats Canelo, among others.
There would be no larger a fight to be made in boxing then a undefeated unified Middleweight Champ in GGG vs returning undefeated legend Floyd Mayweather !!!
It would be bigger than the Pac fight, it would make more $$$ than the Pac fight.. Floyd would still be the A side and can dictate terms.... The public would go crazy for the matchup....
So, if GGG is easy pickings then why let Ward spoil a possible several Hundred Million Dollar match between Floyd & GGG ???? The largest payday in the history of boxing is within reach despite the buzz killing Pac vs May yawner...
Floyd has always been smart in the business end of boxing... Can't he see this opportunity ??? There is no denying, a undefeated unified Middleweight Champ in GGG vs Floyd Mayweather would be the largest payday ever !!! That added to Floyds already ridiculous bank account makes logical sense ...
Don't lack vision, not GGG today but the one he would become ... If GGG KO's Canelo, his stock goes through the roof !!! If he has a 24 or 25 fight KO streak going in, people will pay to see if he can KO Floyd as well...
People paid to see May win or lose vs Pac, don't kid yourselves.... Pac is great, but people paid to see Floyd win or for Floyd to lose... They will do the same for GGG... It's entertainment and the biggest potential fight out there... Mayweather is so polarizing a figure people will tune in...
For those saying GGG doesn't have a "name", beating Canelo (should that happen) would help change that. Furthermore, as soon as he vs Mayweather was signed, the hype videos surrounding the fight would make GGG more known to the public and when people saw that he was undefeated with a ****-ton of knockouts, people would start becoming interested in the hopes/possibility that he might be able to knock out Floyd.
People really hear what they want. Floyd said at "his weight", GGG would be an easy fight for him basically meaning if all things were equal as far as size etc. Floyd is about to be 39 years old and people are still looking to keep him fighting in hopes of him eventually taking an L. Let's just move on...
This is probably the most confusing thing i ever hear when it comes to boxing fans, and in particular Floyd fans?
Your idea is only just about kind of valid if you are trying to protect a zero. But when you are trying to achieve greatness and do things people don't think you can, it is the norm to sacrifice advantages. Its been done throughout boxing history. Why is Floyd exempt from it? Don't say hes given advantages before rubbish! He was at a little disadvantage against canelo but then tries to get it back with a CW. And Canelo was just a kid and green as a forest. DLH was nothing special at 154. And its rare however you look at it.
Why cant Floyd on a rare occasion give advantages? Why? Why? I have to ask why so many times, because nobody ever gives a satisfactory answer! Did Duran have any advantages against Hagler? Did RJJ have any advantages against Ruiz? Ive never heard a Duran fan ask why Duran should give advantages to Hagler, or a RJJ fan ask why he should give advantages to Ruiz! Why is it only Floyd fans?
When you want to achieve greatness you have to give advantages. When you want to be TBE you have to be at a disadvantage. Floyd should ask to fight GGG in a phonebox or 10 foot ring. Give as many advantages away as you can and then still beat him. That's how you achieve the kind of greatness Floyd wants.
I respect where you're coming and agree, Mayweather should't have every advantage. But boxing isn't a game and by giving away every single advantage against GGG, Mayweather would literally be gambling with his life! Don't you think fighters should at be on even ground in certain categories? When one fighter is grossly overmatched many consider the bout a mismatch, why would Mayweather vs GGG at 160lbs be any different? Mayweather reached his ceiling at 154lbs which is why he only truly fought there 2 times in his career.
Besides, your Duran and RJJ examples only prove that boxing fans have short memories. As great as their respective accomplishments are / were, not many consider Duran or RJJ to be the best ever......
.why would Mayweather give GGG every conceivable advantage? .

Everybody knows a fight between GGG and Floyd wEverybody knows a fight between GGG and Floyd would be at 160 so I don't understand why some people still pretend 154 is even in the equation.
That's not even a given if GGG faces someone his own size like Canelo...why would Mayweather give GGG every conceivable advantage? People assume any fight would be at 154lb because that's pretty much as high as Mayweather can go.
As a fan of both, I really don't have any interest in this fight. GGG would be drained at 154lbs that seems evident by his refusal to fight at 155lbs for his most lucrative fight to date with Canelo.
What's the point of seeing an older, slower version of Mayweather versus a drained GGG;what would it prove?

Those criticising GGG pvn his numbers are probably low because they think GGG going to win easy and there are no superstars for GGG to beat!
But if he fought Floyd I'm sure so many would want to watch

You guys are brainwashed by Lampley or something to honestly think that at this very moment GGG is that big enough of a star to generate record breaking numbers with Mayweather. He is not at the level yet at all. That is not saying he can't reach that level, he is just not at that level yet.
I'm actually done with this topic, spending too much time talking about something that is never going to happen anyway.
Lets talk about something more REALISTIC like GGG vs Canelo!
I don't think he's there yet, just that the matchup would sell itself. It's a lot more appealing than the rematches with Pac, Canelo, Cotto who are the only superstars around
You go to Glaser for Ppv numbers? Cause he also said Cotto Canelo did 600k.
Just how many superstars are there in boxing? There's like a handful of guys capable of selling 100k on Ppv. If Floyd came back, this is in top 3 most lucrative fights. Wouldn't be surprised if it outdid the Pac rematch, still awful risk/reward compared to the rest

Guerrero and ortiz are mexican, they come with a fanbase
Berto was his whatever I'm done fight
Plus, why do ppl want floyd who is already close to 40 to fight at a weight he's never been at, against the top guy?
True being a Mexican helps however a Guerrero really brings none of that fanbase. GGG is way bigger than both at this point
Floyd fighting GGG at 160 wasn't even talked about, it'd be at 154 where Floyd has all the credentials
GGG really can't make Mayweather ANYTHING! Because last time I checked his PPV Numbers was 97K
Can we stop trying to force GGG into stardom by making him appear like he is bigger than he really is. GGG is not that popular yet and he is not even known yet here in America among casuals. That is what K2 is trying to do, build up his fame and stardom. But no he is not their yet, I can understand why some on the outside looking in might think he is a Superstar here in America but NO that is not the case yet.
GGG and K2 can't offer Mayweather nothing because if they could they would! If anything they was begging for the opportunity to get paid off of Mayweather by offering to go down to 154 for him only

Because Guerrero, Berto and Victor brought so much to the table right

You believe GGG won't make Mayweather more money than those guys? Because Mayweather is all about the money, now of course, there won't be Pacquiao levels of money but Mayweather would make more fighting THE unified champion at mw (which is what OP is hinting at as he says GGG v Canelo should happen before), then fighting those scrubs?
Mayweather would also have made more money fighting Khan in 2014 than fighting Maidana.
Money or not, we all know Floyd won't fight risks when said risks are at or near their best or a dangerous style for him. That's sad but it's true.

Completely missed the point!
I also don't remember Guerrero, Ortiz or Berto fans talking about how their guy can "Make Mayweather So Much Money" so I don't even see now this reply even make sense to be honest

that's not floyd's fault that pac had more fights! that just means floyd is more efficient than pac.
floyd has accomplished everything that he wanted to accomplish! he doesn't need to keep fighting so you can see him lose!
jmm being older than floyd is now means floyd beat pac at a younger age than jmm did. advantage floyd!
floyd is held to the highest of standards. look at ggg and who he is fighting. floyd has fought 24 world champs, won titles in 5 divisions, fought 8 p4p ranked fighters, and people still call him a ducker! meanwhile ggg is fighting lemiuex and geale.
I get why the first 4 work but how does the last one work?
What are you saying that Geale and Lemieux are better wins than Floyd's? Or that Golovkin's opposition is better than Floyd's? I don't understand.
It's funny because you always cite the rings rankings for fighters you like but when it comes to Floyd rankings don't mean much.
