Why or why not?
Heres my take, in the U.S. our biggest sports are Football, Baseball, and basketball all of which have amateur (college) leagues. With these amateur leagues it brings anticipation of up and coming prospects for their prospective sports, it also builds fan bases and takes away from the financial barriers professional sports have. So with that said, do you think if someone like PBC put a high profile amateur fight on an undercard every once and a while itd help boxing become more of a mainstream sport?
Amateur boxing I feel people treat as a stepping stone. That part of your career where you build fundamentals and gain experience until you go pro and play with the big boys.
And then you make your statement. At least in modern times.
Amateur any other sport (collegiate+) these guys got all of their fundamentals and experience at a younger age through school, so now it's time to prove something so they CAN make it to the big leagues. The time to make a statement is NOW.
The difference in attitudes is probably why people have fun watching one but not the other. There just seems to be a bigger sense of urgency.
Edit: I mean this for the general public. As anyone here knows top level amateurs are something to behold.
I agree with you about the corruption but I think WSB doesnt do that well because its on Youtube. Although youtube has grown in popularity, its not a mainstream outlet. I was talking about moreso like PBC televising an amateur fight on an undercard on national TV or for top rank to have one on their trutv series etc.
Early on they had some Wsb on TV, don't remember what channel. Nobody watched that, even though it's pro rules, brisk action, and many of these are top flight amateurs
People don't even support WSB Stream on youtube for free, they barely get any views so I don't think that would be a wise investment.
Amateur Boxing is disgustingly Corrupt and they don't even try to hide it anymore. It is much worse than Pro Boxing! I've seen guys dominate in Amateurs and then when the cards come in they don't even win a round on the judges card
So now the young fighters are just going Pro as Teenagers and saying "Screw The Amateurs" but I think Amateurs as well as the Olympics regardless if you get robbed is great experience for young fighters. A lot of Boxing Legends was Robbed at the Olympics so it doesn't matter.

Probably a bit as every bit of exposure helps to a degree. I could see NBCSN doing something with amateur boxing because they have the Olympics and pro boxing. So it would be kind of a natural fit, that is not a hugely popular network though so it would only help a little.

I believe there is a more viable ability to expose more potential boxing fans to amateur boxing right now with the no headgear rules for sure. I think the WSB has been doing this too already.
I used to watch amateur fights all the time til things got a lil too retarded with the scoring. Now that things are going back to "normal" I think I & probably others will get back into it more & there is surely an audience out there for this more viewer friendly version of amateur boxing. Just a matter of who comes up with the plan & takes the risk.
Yeah the 10 point system is far superior to that weird point system and dont get me started on that computer scoring system lol! I just think itd be a good way for boxers to become more of household names. I know PBC is trying with televising boxing more but promoting charismatic kids will bring a better following I think. Itd be nice to see a good amateur scrap on PBC with a little build up and America loves its youth...
but all those sports arent world sport like boxing, and if the americans arent winning (which they arent) america wont care or get behind it.
With the new 10point system the amateurs are using, I think the US or the western world so to speak will come alive again. Also, I think boxing being a global sport could benefit from bringing youngsters from across the globe and televising them especially if its against a young American up and comer. Of course these would have to be high profile matches...
