What are the worst cash grabs over the years..
And I don't want to hear floyd-manny or any other major fight that happened to suck.. I'm talking about horrible cash grabs... I don't think anyone will top my selection..
GOAT cash grab- 2006 mike Tyson had a PPv for a 4 round exhibition vs sparring partner Cory sanders ( and not the sanders that ko'd WLAD but the sanders that was a journeymen at best)
Tyson fought in a T-shirt and sanders wore headgear... And yes I paid money to watch it..
Only redeeming quality was Col. Bob Sheridan hyped the hell out of it during the broadcast.
Can anyone top that cash grab event?
:lol1: I was a kid and we had a big party for that fight. Nobody cared that McNeeley was terrible.
I don't think any other fighter can do those kind of numbers with that level of an opponent.
I was at a fight party for that also, Tyson was hype coming out of prison. It was an odd circumstance that allowed that fight to be huge, I think it could happen again it would have to be just right.
"I'm Peter McNeely from Westminster, Mass. and I am here to kick Tyson's ass"

Mike Tyson vs Peter "Hurricane" McNeeley. They even made a movie off that fight called The Great White Hype. It is one of the highest grossing fights in history and not because it was a competitive fight, but because it was his first fight out of jail and they did an excellent job hyping up the no-name opponent that most of the country could relate to.

It was an exhibition, no way was Berto going to be competitive. He couldn't anyway.
His pay day was a gift from Floyd and it was a glorified spar session.
Boxing has become an over hyped game to fool the uneducated fan.
Just watch the prelim 6 rounders and see the intensity displayed. I'm not talking about skill set or talent levels just simple willingness to win and dominate.
I don't mind chess games it should always be part of boxing but there should also be a few minutes of a few rounds that becomes plain to see that someone is making the effort to dominate and change the momentum in the match.
When you see someone not follow up when they land it becomes a curious methodology display to me. If I hurt you or score well I need to follow up to assert dominance. When that doesn't happen your in "spar mode" to me.
Boxing is smart chess moves however there needs to be consequences involved to make it exciting and interesting.

Sorry but the worse ever is Floyd & Manny everyone who bought that should have demanded a refund!
Next was Floyd & Berto just as lame as Floyd could be.
Tyson exhibition was an exhibition what do you think that means?
Ray
How was the Floyd and Berto fight more of a cash grab than this joke of a fight between Manny and Bradley for the third time?

Duran vs paz
jones vs paz
Mayweather Judah (judah already lost and still got to fight on ppv no less)
Mosley mora
Pac clottey
Jones tarver 3
Berto vs that lw he knocked out after the hatti earth quake
Joshua vs whyte didn't need to be ppv there ****ing prospects/borderline contenders
I will call your leonard/duran 3 and raise you a chavez sr "farewell retirement" tour
I'll raise you calzaghes whole career. That has cash grab written all over it.
Was wondering if I was the only one honest enough to be thinking that. Pascal dwindles in obscurity for years, wins against Bute in a pathetic affair, gets raped by Kovalev, gets the robberyof the year, and now he's fighting Kovalev again??? Is Sergey so unknown that he has to stoop to that to get a payday? I was under the impression he was fairly popular.
Hes the most popular in the division No doubt. He lacks that star making win though. But yeah it is a useless fight lol.
You consider these fights cash grabs, but don't list Pac/Rios or Pac/Algieri as a cash grab?
Didn't even think of them
To be honest but yeah defiantly those too. I think
Mayweather Ortiz was also to be honest

Leonard/Duran 3
Ali vs Coopman. Ali was the greatest but he made easy TV money against one of the most undeserving title challengers of the last 40 years. But then again Klitschko made a career out of opponents like that. Not totally his fault, it's just that the heavyweight division was terrible up until now.
Leonard Duran 3. Leonard ripped us off by playing it safe. Easy money. I was worried Floyd and Pac would be the same. And it happened. Too bad but both are still ATG's. At least Leonard was known for closing the show and he made the crowd go wild with his offence. Floyd will be remembered for his great defence and being offending.
All of Tyson's fights after prison were all about the cash grab. Especially the Peter McNeeley farce.
Gatti vs Gomez. That was sad.

Yes, he is! His promoter, Main Events, relies solely on HBO to pay Kovalev's purses. Pascal is the best option available (who is eligible to fight on HBO's terms) to Kovalev, so that is who HBO chose.
Every fight is a cash grab. No fighter, in spite of what they may say, fights strictly for the entertainment of the fans or for legacy.
Anyone who knew anything about Mayweather or Pacquaio knew exactly how that fight was going to turn out. Anyone who now calls it a cash grab or has anything negative to say about it is an idiot who deserved to lose their money.
