Lets see it this way,
If GGG vs Canelo happens at 160
Canelo can re-hydrate to 165-175 plus on the fight night like he does everytime.
GGG will re-hydrate to near 170 as well its not like suddenly for one fight he will go over 180.
If its at 155 Canelo like every fight will re to 170+ and if Canelo can get 15 extra pounds in a day so can GGG.
So the point is whatever weight they fight in, at fight night they will probably of the same weight - 155 wont stop GGG to get to his normal fight night weight just like it doesn't stop Canelo. I see no advantage for either fighter on either 155 or 160
Am I missing something here ?
look back on my posting history, I been saying from wait back that no title should be on the line for a title fight... I would rather canelo fight ggg at 160 than at any other weight, that way he gives less room for the haters after he beats ggg, but still I know there will always be something to hate... I know that anyone from 154 to 168 is a fallacy, but try to explain that to the golovkids...
Fair enough. I just get annoyed by the haters and the fanboys.
Look at it this way. Canelo fought at a cw to take on PBF. It took a toll on Canelo's speed and stamina. He agreed to it though because Floyd brings megabucks.
GGG at 34 is far less flexible in weight than a young fighter and has always been a 160lb fighter. He may say he can hit the weight easy but that's not even close to true. Try reading Breadman's awesome column. Only for monster money is GGG likely to take a fight that requires him to be well under his optimum ability. Canelo brings money but nowhere near Floyd money (yet).
Also Floyd is a properly smaller man. He would need a cw to even the scales. Canelo and GGG are at the same weight on fight night.
Ergo PBF and Canelo are different situations.
Nope!
You seem desperate to wield this quote as if it means anything. All teams and boxers say **** for all sorts of reasons.
It's a purely partisan effort from you to discredit GGG because you are a Canelo or Ward fan or similar stupid crap. Good luck with that.
I actually think Canelo is plenty good enough to possibly beat GGG without all this weight class crap. I just get annoyed by nut hugger fans with stupid arguments.

you are the idiot, I only repeat it what gggs team said , you can believe it or not, if you believe it then it means he wont be drained on your eyes, if you don't believe it then gggs team are full of lies...

I think it will make a difference. I think GGG has to spend the time to make weight rather than working on the gameplan for the fight. His diet changes. His training procedure changes. His mindset and concentration may be affected as well.
You got a link to Golovkin saying this?
Since maybe a year or two ago I've only seen Golovkin say "154 only for Mayweather, 168 for big PPV fight."
Never heard an "easy" or "healthy".
last time I saw ggg him self talking about it , it was weeks before his fight with lemule, he was promoting the fight on a show called nacion espn, end he was asked about the weight, the question didn't even involved Floyd, just clearly about 154, he said easy...
Oh deary deary me!
You must really have been surprised when Mayweather didn't win his last few fights with monster knockouts as promised. Or that the real, young Roy Jones Jr didn't reappear all of a sudden in his last fight. It must be shocking to suspect that Antonio Tarver couldn't beat Klitschko and Fury in the same night.
I am led to understand that Shannon Briggs is a top heavyweight contender who is being ducked by the whole division in some sort of fearful conspiracy by all the terrified professional fighters. It's surely nothing to do with his age, irrelevance and mediocre boxing record that he is just being ignored.
I'd continue but you're an idiot so I won't.

you are missing the whole point. Nobody is telling Canelo what HE should weigh. If he wants to weight 155 thats his business, and nobody would care one way or the other.
The difference comes in when he is telling another middleweight champion what THEY can weigh. Canelo is the WBC middleweight and lineal champion. That division spans from 154.1 to 160.0 It does NOT span from 154.1 to 155.0, which is what Canelo is trying to impose.
This is the evolution of the DLH-Hops, and Floyd and Pac era catchweights. Can you even imagine how far the next group of fighters is going to take it? The sport is fast becoming a joke, and bears little resemblance to the sport I fell in love with 40 years ago......
At least Floyd and Manny were always smaller guys coming in to the catch weight (minus FM vs JMM)
Canelo is a fking middleweight killing himself to make 155 then blowing up to 173 on fight night and having a advantage in size on every fighter he fights.
If they don't do a weight around 157 in September then Canelo is a straight Bi$$$
Young MMA fighter die from cutting weighthttp://www.mmafighting.com/2015/12/11/9891100/one-championships-yang-jian-bing-dies-from-weight-cutting
Yang Jian Bing was set to compete at ONE Championship 35 against Geje Eustaquio in a flyweight contest before that bout was cancelled on Thursday. ONE Championship noted via release following the weigh-ins that bout had been cancelled "due to Yang's severe dehydration from attempting to make weight. Yang Jian Bing has suffered from dehydration and suspected heat stroke. He has been transported to the hospital where he is undergoing intensive rehydration treatment."
The news took a turn for the worse on Friday when Bing, 21, ultimately died from the complications of his weight cut.
Weight cuts are a common part of the process of fight preparation, but carry significant health risks. Fighters of all amateur and professional levels have experienced complications from botched weight cuts, some of which have paid the price with their life.
The particular circumstances and specific causes of what caused Bing's death have not yet been determined. Bing was a three-time veteran of ONE Championship and held a 5-1-1 professional MMA record.
THis is what canelo want from little G

It maybe wouldn't make him ill, but whatever he says, he is going to be weaker after making 154 than he is after making 160.

What you are missing is that cutting weight weakens a fighter, and it takes a while to recover back to 100%
A young man in his 20's, like Canelo, recovers faster than a man in his 30's.
That is the problem for GGG if he agrees to 155. He would be the same size for the fight as when he weighs in at 160, but he would not have the same strength and energy.
Cutting weight can affect punch resistance too. And again, a younger man will get his "chin" back quicker than an older man.
GGG would be drained if he made 154 for Floyd, but he would be fighting a smaller man.
Floyd doesn't come in at 175 on fight night, like Canelo does!
he said he could make weight easy and healthy...
how is ggg drained at 155?? he said he can make 154 easy for a big ppv fight... if he isn't drained for a ppv fight he souldnt be drained to any other fight at all... and I get it, if the title is on the line it should be 160...
GGG would be drained if he made 154 for Floyd, but he would be fighting a smaller man.
Floyd doesn't come in at 175 on fight night, like Canelo does!
Kovalev is in the worst situation he doesn't have a CW frame but theres a huge gap in weight if he moves up. I remember Kov saying he wanted a weight class in between LW and CW.
well Kov can just challenge the current cruiserweight champions to defend their titles at 176. Thats the way this sport is heading.......
most posters are clueless when it comes to rehydration..
next thing you know people are going to ask brandon rios to fight ward...
I know, smh. It's an uphill battle
You must realise that cutting 5lb of muscle and fat is not the same as putting on 15lb of fluids.
