Heavyweights have great potential. An exciting heavyweight taking fights against opponents people want to see would reel in crazy dough.
Joshua is also a british gold medalist having been promoted in Britain his entire career.
Also feel like boxing is sort of blowing up in the UK since Froch's second wind with exciting fighters/personalities and fights whereas with America they are mainly just ducking outside of fights, running in fights or making crazy demands pulling the "A-side" diva antics.
True, but to be fair Golovkin did it in a foreign country 6,000 miles from home against a French-Canadian opponent.
I don't understand your point. He's based out of Los Angeles he hasn't fought in his home since like 7 years. Even if that ppv was in kazathan it still wouldn't have sold much
After having a massive push from the biggest boxing broadcaster in the world and having the P4P #1 on his undercard.
They have a tough job cause he doesn't bring a built in fanbase, unlike most Ppv stars
Whatever way you Golovkin fans try to spin the numbers the fact is Joshua drew more PPV revenue for a non title fight than Golovkin did for a unification.
I'm really not too bothered. The UK is a different market. Cheap Ppv, Haye doing 1m on Ppv vs bum Audley, Froch drawing 80k to Wembley. GGG is doing well beyond all expectations

Your numbers are wrong £16.99 is $25.30 and the Golovkin PPV was $49.99 not $60.
Joshua - 25.30 x 400,000 = 10,120,000
Golovkin - 49.99 x 150,000 = 7,498,500
Of course that's if you believe the 150,000 number. If you believe the 97k number Golovkin PPV made less than half of the Joshua PPV at 4,849,030.
It's 49.95 in SD, 59.95 in HD. Nobody buys SD. 97k came from the same guy that insisted Canelo Cotto did 600k

But he was fighting in Germany in the beginning not khaza look at Wladimir and Abrahams h making a killing there
Maybe he should have stuck with the Germans then?
I think all in all Boxing isn't as popular as it use to be in America but its blatantly obvious why foreign fighters go there because If you can make it big it will surpass any height that you can achieve in any other country reaching that limit is another entirely different thing.
I'm not saying Golovkin isn't a big enough name I just don't think people care as much but that's just casual fans to get their attention they need to have a solid reason I guess the main thing is making sure he keeps on winning he's likely already set for life as things stand now.
Wasn't Brook supposed to be the headline? so not sure why everyone is referencing it as a Joshua card.
For the British fans, the card was stacked. I would not say all the 400k who bought it was primarily for Joshua. For example Luke Campbell headlined a show in his last fight that had a crowd of 20,000..
9 One comes from Kazakhstan the other from where El Niguera?
I'm not exactly sure, that doesn't bode well for both but you can bet your little ass off that If either were British, German, Mexican, Puerto Rican or American they'd likely have a much more massive following.

I cant belive a novice like joshua sells so much PPV. I went down the pub to watch him v whyte. I would never pay ppv for joshua until he fights fury or wilder or parker.
golovkin had supposedly the #1 p4p fighter on the card which was chocolatito and golvkin and they still didnt sell 100k
anthony joshua sold 400k ppv idgaf how the $ pays out were the END result is joshua in his 15th fight outsold golovkin 4x as much, **** canelo outsold golovkin by 6x as much if you're goin with the least and 9x as much if you dealin' with the most ppv buys and their tickets were the same amount if not more and they made way more than golovkin too

Doesn't matter the prices at the end of the day more people, especially saw Joshua fight.
Actually If you did the math you'd realize both PPV made near equal amount of cash
Anthony Joshua Vs Dillian Whyte
$23.84 x 400,000 = $9,536,000
GGG Vs Lemieux
$60 x 150,000 =$9,000,000
Considering AJ is a gold medalist and the card had so many star attraction British names on it -
Anthony Joshua
Kevin Mitchell
Tony Bellew
Luke Campbell
Chris Eubank Jr
Sort of explains everything, still good numbers and the event was very good there should have been one more upset on the night but the British judges robbed Masternak.

Where's obese Dan getting his info from? If it's direct from Sky, who rarely release boxoffice figures, I'm damn impressed.
Anyone know what Fury/Wlad did?
Eddie hearn
damn even anthony joshua is a bigger name than that cat golovkin
folks from over here in the united snakes was interested in the fight but didnt think it'd do THAT well

We will see it when Joshua will face Wilder.
They need to showcase Joshua for a couple fights in the US before they go for Wilder-Joshua. Especially if Wilder is the undisputed champion the goal for that fight should be to beat May-Pac.
Fury-Wilder will be a good benchmark to see where Joshua should be with a little more exposure..
