After watching AJ's last fight and seeing how Wilder has progressed so far I have no doubt, that the most talented and dangerous young boxer today is Joseph Parker.
AJ looks huge physically, but his defense is not highly reactive to incoming shots, and he looks slow on the back foot.
Wilder, while he holds good power would get cut to pieces by a good technician. He truthful has not fought a boxer who will test him from different angles.
Joseph Parker is easily the most talented heavyweight out there. He hits dam hard, throws from the legs and the hips, comes from different angles and has rock solid defense.
I think AJ and Parker will never fight until its for a title but I predict Parker would close it out under 3. The same goes for wilder though I believe it would go at least several rounds.
I predict once Parker wins any titles, he will hold them at least for several years. He is the class fighter of this heavyweight generation coming through.
Parker seems crude against average opposition. Joshua seems good but it is to early still. Gerald Washington shows promise but I doubt he is ready for the top ten.
I think everyone can agree best young HW is going to come down to Joshua & Parker.
Joshua fans will argue that the Whyte fight was a test he passed well having faced adversity in the ring and overcome it, but for me it raised more questions than answers. F*ck if Whyte's conditioning hadn't been so rubbish he could have well finished Joshua in the 2nd or even the 3rd when I thought Joshua was still a bit buzzed.
Most fighters don't like it to the body but to me Joshua REALLY doesn't like it to the body, I thought those body shots really bothered him. The fast pace of the fight also bothered him IMHO. It was just lucky for him that again Whyte's conditioning was of the James Toney variety. You feel that a guy that can give him 5 or 6 hard rounds will wear him down.
He looked robotic in parts and doesn't look like he has a clue to fight off the back foot. However due to his size and power he isn't going to be forced to that too often, but against top level guys it will be interesting to see how he makes that adjustment.
On the plus side he does have that concussive power that can change a fight at a moment's notice, and his power looks to carry late. I also like the way he was able to adjust his game plan in the 4th, settle down and box Whyte nicely from the outside, showing decent boxing smarts.
As for Parker he does possess 3 attributes that I think will bother Joshua most and that is a great jab, hand speed and vicious body shots. You've got to feel that if slow as molasses Whyte can catch Joshua what would Parker do?
Parker needs to step it up though and I believe they do want to, it's a case of getting a guy who will step in the ring with him. He also needs to tighten up his defence, carrying that left hand low against Joshua and it will be lights out.
It is gonna come down to can Parker handle Joshua's power and how will Joshua handle Parker's speed? Parker has decent power too.
In fights like this I usually prefer speed so prefer Parker right now, but this will one day develop into a helluva super fight within 24 months and I think it's a pretty much pick 'em.
Parker is largely untested but from what I've seen from him, I like. He has a killer instinct, he has fast hands and tremendous power, he throws really nice combinations and is good body puncher and he's also extremely explosive in his offense. I think he's been moved along at a good pace and not being rushed; he's still very young and inexperienced in the pro ranks.
Yeah Dillian would beat Parker at this point but it would be competitive I'll give you that. Whyte has the speed to get to him and the toughness to drag Parker in to fighting his fight. I see Whyte grinding him down and stopping Parker round about the 7th.
Anthony Joshua blasts him out early. Watch Joshua-Gavern, that fight is a good indication of how the fight would go against Parker.
His handlers are basing that off of his last fight, which was a tough test and exactly what Joshua needed. I think Dillian Whyte would beat Parker, that's a fight I'd like to see down the line.
Parkers Handlers see it as destiny these two show-down

he will fold over at the first opportunity imo.
what they need for him (after the samoa january fight) is the equivalent of dillian whyte for AJ.
someone who will not quit or give up after the first big punch, someone that is coming to win.
i was hoping since it was in samoa it would be alex lepai, that would be a great fight/test, he's at the end of his career and is limited but at least he can pack a punch, and will come to fight.
it's tough because as that ^ above article say's, no one really wants to fight him. and the ones that do are mostly coming to pick up a pay check.
Part of the problem is his management and his promotional company, Duco Events, which I hadn't heard of before I read that article. I don't believe anyone is 'ducking' Parker, boxing is a business and fighters probably are not being made the best offer to go over to New Zealand to fight the hometown hero. Parker has options if he were to relocate and get real boxing promoters that are proven in getting their fighters the right fight. Parker is making a name for himself and I'm sure the likes of Haymon, Hearn, Saureland or Warren would be open to making him an offer and would do a good job with Parker.
I agree that Lepai would be a good test, that's not an easy fight.

i was thinking that ugonoh or haumono could be parker's whyte, but apparently ugonoh shares a trainer with him and haumono has ducked him. fujimoto also ducked him. seems like parker needs to just focus on building his profile for now so that he can actually offer enough reward to get these people in the ring with him
A good matchup for Parker right now could be Zumbano Love, he was stopped in two by Joshua but has gone the distance with Andy Ruiz and Charles Martin. Love always seems willing to fight. That fight would give us a decent indication of where Parker is in his progress. Love can also crack a bit.

Chisora and Cornish are exactly the fights that Parker doesnt need. These are one round KO fights. Problem is nobody will fight Parker currently. They are offering big money contracts but they are being turned down because fighters dont want to get banged out by him.

thanks for the article.
wow seem's his management is actually trying to get him a big/decent fight, i thought they were taking it deliberately slowly with him.
Shannon Briggs
Lucas Browne
Vyacheslav Glazkov
Chris Arreola,
Mariusz Wach,
Erkan Teper,
Mark de Mori
and Solomon Haumono.
All ducked him! to be fair there is no reason why briggs or browne would want to fight him, they are waiting for a big pay day. fighting a young hungry lion is the last thing on their mind.
btw i already called it :boxing:

Parker needs to test himself in the UK coz that's where the best HW's are. I'd like to see him against Chisora, I'd actually out a decent wager on Chisora stopping him. Parker is a decent fighter and he's only 23 but he lacks that edge and toughness it takes to be a great fighter. I could see him in some decent fights though. Parker-Cornish would be a good fight, Parker would be the favorite but I wouldn't write off Cornish because he comes to fight as we saw against Joshua and it would be interesting to see how Parker handles that.
