According to Sweet Science,
"The real sigh of relief and what makes you believe the bout will in happen is, Alvarez has dropped the 155 catch weight stipulation that he had been insisting on since he beat Cotto, according to Golden Boy Promotions executive Eric Gomez. And if that’s true, good for him. There was nothing for him to gain in the eyes of the fans if he beat a weakened and dehydrated Golovkin at 155. Now if he beats Golovkin it will be authentic and no one can question or taint the accomplishment."

If this is indeed true, then Canelo's next fight may well be at 160.
we all might be celebrating a bit early. Just spoke to a source who says that nothing has been discussed, decided or agreed to in regards to weight, and any claims that they have already dropped the 155 catchweight demand are false
So time will tell............

Wow. If this is true Canelo moves into my top 3 favorite fighters. :fingersx:
War Canelo!! :boxing:
most of them were saying canelo was going to use the 155 weight as an excuse in september...
Well I don't think GGG would ever go that far down anyway...I thought 157 would be a good compromise and GGG team shouldn't have any problem coming down if he really wants the fight.
golovkids arent going to like this..
Told by @makeawar 160 weight not an issue for @Canelo. Bigger thing was crafting the right deal for @GGGBoxing and having more "buildup."— Lance Pugmire (@latimespugmire) diciembre 14, 2015
here we go
What won't they like? Everyone already knows they will fight other opponents first then make the fight. What's the issue?

I take it as a sign they're serious. If they're going to duck Golovkin they're not going to make that duck as high profile as possible.
You have to read the "fine print". It has to do with the weight. Team Canelo will try to pressure and bully GGG to 155, and make it seem Golovkin's scared unless he goes there.
On a side note, it's pretty damn sad that Tyson Fury just dethroned the long reigning heavyweight champ and he doesn't even get the cover of Ring magazine.
I think so too. But then it's Ring Magazine. Canelo will be a fixture unless something totally Earth-shattering happens.
Yeah.... cause Canelo's boss put it on the cover.
It's ironclad.

This is the surest sign this fight is going to happen

This means we could have a true middleweight champion for the first time since Sergio Martinez (Cotto never fought at 160).
I actually laughed at this part. Miguel Jotto is a fkin disgrace.
The most glaring thing, to me, in the article is the writer stating Floyd perfected the catchweight...lol. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and said he meant to say Manny, because the only catchweight fight i can remember was him against Canelo, other than that almost all of Manny's biggest wins were at catchweights.
actually the recent trend of catchweights within the same division was started by Oscar in the Hops fight. Floyd and Manny dabbled in it, but Cotto is who really took it to the next level.....
(I will hold off on adding Canelo to that list because there are rumors that he is dumping the shameful 155 demand)
