Personally I think Canelo should fight twice next year. 1x will not be enough time to prepare Canelo for a guy like GGG @ mw. I understand Canelo can only make 1 voluntary but Im sure he can make a 10rd non title fight.
One of the reasons GGG is so good is that he stays active. Canelo needs to do the same and should do so against guys with a similar style and size. So with that said, who would be the best tune-up for GGG?
Theres a (top 25) MW guy named Dmitry Chudinov with a similar style and build that would be prefect for a tune up I think.
can he even fight for the WBO without vacating his WBC interim?
I think it would be simply an IBF - WBO unification in the WBO's eyes, and they wouldnt recognize the WBC, but I dont think he would have to vacate it.
If Paco however was mandating he vacate the WBC interim, then the fight is dead on arrival
Im hoping Loeffler can pull a rabbit out of the hat and give us GGG-Lee (assuming of course Lee beats Saunders and suffers no significant cut or injury)

in reality we'll get canelo-clottey and golovkin-johnson

Any MW. No difference between any of them. They are all the same level, pose the same lack of skillful threat, this is also the case for Canelo, who ever he decides to fight won't matter. Anyone on Golovkin's resume could be considered a tune up for someone like Ward, Cotto, Kovalev, etc.
Fair play to the guy in your avatar, first champion I've seen with no arms. Guess that knocks Ricky Hatton off the top spot.

guy in my avatar is Nate Campbell, former WBA/WBO/IBF lightweight champ if ya aint know. LOL good one
Blame Ward!
No, more f*ckin' tuneups! Another 'soft touch' opponent would just fuel the hate for GGG and give the trolls more ammo to criticize him.
He started all that "Little G" stuff. Lmao ever since then I noticed he's been getting hammered.
I'm assuming you meant a tune up for Canelo before facing Golovkin?
Style wise, nobody comes close to what GGG brings to the table.
Chudinov and especially Lemieux bring the power so that would be something...
yes thats what I meant, sounded good in my head when I typed it but I can see how it was misconstrued.

The title of the thread is misleading. The thread starter meant to say who would be a good tune up for Canelo to prepare themselves for GGG.
Honestly i think someone like Lemiux or Toreano Johnson. though they both might be too dangerous. Lemiux has good power and Canelo can see if he can also avoid it and figure **** out, will also have a common name on the resume and see how he does. As far as Toreano he is a good fighter, he is also a pressure fighter who will try to push Canelo around. other than that i don't know who else can prepare him even remotly (maybe jacobs, but that's also a very risky fight) prepare him for GGG.
I expect GGG's next fight to be either his IBF mandatory Tureano Johnson, or Andy Lee (provided he wins vs BJS) for a unification match. Both should be good scraps while they last.
