I wanted to contribute an observation that I have made over the last couple of years.
Of course there is no way to know the truth, but the this a boxing forum, and from time to time we discuss questionable judging.
I found the scorecards for both Mayweather fight, and the Cotto fight strange.
One judge saw Canelo/Cotto 119-110 in favor of Saul, and in Mayweather/Canelo, one judge scored it a draw!
That felt like Michael Spinks, but the point being, whats going on?
And why is everyone avoiding it?
The trout, mayweather, lara and cotto fights all had outrageous scorecards for canelo. Luckily the right guy won in all of those fights (the lara fight is debatable). Canelo is considered the next big superstar in the sport and I believe that because of that, he gets any kind of close rounds called his way. His loud fans in the arena could also be a factor in influencing the judges.
no, something is afoot here, no question about it. The Cotto scorecards were an insult, thats why Cotto was upset.
I agree. The unreasonably wide decision against Trout, the win against Lara (it was a draw at best, but I'm still glad Canelo got the decision), the draw against Mayweather, and now the unreasonably wide decision against Cotto.
Something is, as you say, afoot here.
How observant, you must be a detective.
But seriously, it's a well known topic that's been covered numerous times here.
