Its not so easy to predict who's gonna fall off quicker than age than others. I'd guess GGG gots a solid 2-3yrs left (36-37yrs) worst case. Retired/done at 36: Kostya Tszyu, Joe Calzaghe, Mikkel Kessler, Jermain Taylor. Retired/done at 35: Carlos Monzon, Oscar De La Hoya, Michael Nunn (last meaningful world title fight in 98), Felix Trinidad, Pernell Whitaker (last meaningful fight in 99). Retired/done at younger age: Marvin Hagler (33), Terry Norris (31), Steve Collins (33), Chris Eubank (32), Nigel Benn (32), Gene Fullmer (33). What makes you say worst case? Don't you mean best case?

Anyone see GGG staying elite at an advanced age à la Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather Jr? Bit of a difference between Mayweather & Hopkins, one is a contender at 50, the other is 38. Does Golovkin have the potential to still be one of the best MWs at 38 (4 years time), yes. Do I think he will be? probably not, odds are against it.

Loeffler told Steve Kim a week ago that Lara's people have never contacted them but they're free to do so.

He tried to get out of the contract with Universe, his promoter at the time. Sounds familliar? EDIT: And he didn't have Showtime and Super Six to do all the matchmaking for him, like some other fighter we know. He got off to a late start as a pro and he can't change that. He is fighting the best guys his weight who aren't afraid to fight him. What else can he do? Prime for a boxer is age 25 to 29 so yeah he is past prime. He is still a god damn monster in the ring and he trains hard and stays in the best possible condition. He looked razor sharp destroying fellow champion Lemieux. I think he can continue to rule and terrorize the middleweight division for a few more years. There is nothing he can do to speed up his career that he isn't already doing. That's up to the other 160 pound champions who should fight him but don't want to. Canelo should fight him in May at 160 pounds but he probably will fight another good fighter instead. Canelo vs GGG at 160 should happen next. No marinating is needed or required.

Well-put. I think Sergio was FAR more ballsy and ambitious but the comparison is still relevant. Guys like these tend to age overnight. Even if they are fit looking, a lingering injury or just lack of hunger grips them and it's quickly downhill from there. Wtf!
