"Tyson Fury's highly controversial comments about homosexuality are being probed by police, it was revealed today.
Fury, who defeated Klitschko on points in Dusseldorf, appeared to link abortion and homosexuality with paedophilia, leading to huge criticism from across sport.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said they received a call at around 10.30am this morning reporting them as a hate crime."
........
Fury needs to move to the US.
All I know is the Tyson Fury story is going to be fun while it lasts. He has stirred up more controversy in the last 24 hours than any fighter I can remember.
He has had a spat with the BBC, might get himself disqualified from Sports Personality of the Year, looks like he might get arrested, he has offended half the country, and fallen out with Lennox Lewis. All in a days work for Tyson Fury.
If that was the case then most of the Tabloid journalists would be locked up.
And newspapers like the Daily Mail would be shut down.
Muslims Probably one of the Minorities you can say pretty much anything about without any adverse reaction, Tabloids do it on a Daily Basis themselves.
The Homosexaul community have a strong presence in the media, these days. Probably 30 years ago it would have been different, with not many people taking notice.
whites are the main group that can be attacked 24/7 without no consequences
Doesn't exist in Europe. If you're from America luckily you still have that privillege.
not for long almost as bad here. cant say nothing about protected groups here if you have a good job you get fired
Hate crime? Are they fcukin kidding us?!
Fury's accusers are even dumber than he is.
I guess the whole world should shut up and keep their views to themselves so that noone gets offended.
Man, and I thought we had it bad...
Imo, dude is a boxer. Not a physicist. Not a philosopher. Not a brain surgeon.
If somebody is sifting through ideas looking to better inform their world view, I doubt the philosophical ramblings of Tyson Fury or Adrien Broner or Kovalev or Mike Tyson, etc are going to convert many people.
Seriously.
Life is not a "safe space".
man this sh*t is getting ridiculous!!...this reminds me of certain Jamaican Reggae artist not being allowed in certain European countries for having ANTI BATTY BWOY lyrics....fire fi burn dem :boxing:
What exactly did Fury say?
In recent interviews, his reasons for believing the world is doomed:
"One of them is homosexuality being legal in countries, one of them is abortion and the other is paedophilia. Who would have thought in the 50s and 60s that those first two would be legalised?
"When I say paedophiles could be made legal, it sounds crazy. But if I had said to you about the first two being made legal in the 50s, I would have been looked upon as a crazy man."

He's been saying this stuff for a while but suddenly everyone knows who he is.
This isn't a religious thread.
I'm an atheist and I agree with most of Fury's views on homosexuality in the media, etc.
It will get closed or moved to the lounge if we just argue about religion.
I'm just blown away that he's being probed for a "hate crime" investigation. This is the HW champion of the world, it's really surreal.
He doesn't seem the type to back down and the militant gay pride/censorship people won't either so I wonder how far this goes if he keeps being himself.
While most normal people will cheer him on, the UK media/government may view him as some sort of "problem".
You can pretty much say anything in the UK
Just look at the amount of abuse the Royals and the Tories get.
But there is a line with racist ranting in public like that one woman on the london train a couple of years back. And that Islamic preaching nutter.
But it's not like peoples doors are being knocked down by swat teams if you call your local chinese takeaway a *****y.
So its a crime to say anything about HOMO'S?
Apparently its acceptable in Islam to toss homosexuals off a high building to their death...

I think in a real society that If racism is considered a punishable offense then its kind of obvious that hating on homosexuals/lesbians etc should be just the same but I guess its not but then these gypos want to be took seriously
apparently.
against muslims as well.

As much as I love this country, I ****ing hate it sometimes too.
Of all the problems we have right now, with a police force which is having its budget cut, this is what they choose to focus on.
We literally have thought police now. What a joke.
The hypocrisy annoys me: free speech is great so long as everyone is singing the same tune. I don't agree with Tyson Fury's opinion or words, but he has a right to them and people shouldn't be willing to throw away centuries of progress in order to silence him.
Well said and bang on.
And like i said in another thread, it's worse than ever today. You can't say anything without the public, especially on social media making it into a huge scandal. So what Fury has a problem with homosexuals? Is it really that important in the grand scheme of things? It's just the view of one man, there's a lot of evil happening in the world today far worse than his opinion.
But he is a distraction for the media away from the reality.
Doesn't exist everywhere. You can face prison time for hurting someone's feelings or having differing historical views in much of Europe.

I wonder how this will actually affect his boxing career. He may not fully comprehend that he went from a nobody to a household name overnight and what was funny before will now put him in legal jeopardy.
3 months ago this would have gotten a bunch of laughs in a room full of boxing people.
Now he's being investigated by the police and attacked by the BBC.
" In the circumstances of hatred based on religious belief or on sexual orientation, the relevant act (namely, words, behaviour, written material, or recordings, or programme) must be threatening and not just abusive or insulting."
The words need to be threatening. Nothing will come of his comments. I suspect they will just advice him to apologise in order to placate the angry mob.
