All these interviews with Peter Nelson and I haven't seen one yet that talks to him about increasing HBO's boxing budget. They refused to pick up Lemieux/N'dam knowing the winner was likely to fight GGG. Yvon Micheal even told them he wouldn't hold them responsible in his lawsuit against Golden Boy. They only have one PPV fight next year and that's Manny vs whomever he picks. Ward/Kovalev is a PPV I would buy but neither can draw flies to **** and Ward isn't really helping by the competition he chooses to fight before Kovalev. The only way I see Lee (if he wins) fighting GGG is if it's overseas. But Lee isn't really a draw either. That's why they had to move the location of the fight. Haymon/DiBella is gonna make HBO break the bank to get Lee. Then we'll see if HBO is really serious about boxing.
Yvon Micheal named HBO on the lawsuit, so HBO wouldn't show the fight until the court case was resolved. By the time it was, HBO couldn't fit the fight into their schedule within the IBF deadline.

I agree Lee/Golovkin should happen overseas. Golovkin insists on one international fight per year anyways. I don't think HBO will need to break the bank to get Lee. DiBella is Lee's US promoter, he'd be involved with US tv deal, but I don't really have the impression he'd get in the way of a good deal for Andy. There's a big Irish population in London, or they could sell out the 10,000 capacity arena in Dublin. I think SKY's or BoxNation's level involvement could be a determining factor. We'll see how well Lee/Saunders does and what kind of support Andy has from the UK fans.
Last time around, Haymon paid Lee around $1mill. I'm not sure how confident he'd be in Jacobs beating Lee, though he could tie Lee down with options like's been doing with Chris Algieri. All the more reason HBO should be aggressive in securing Lee if he wins.
Who do you think will pay more money? Lemieux got $1.5 mil to fight on PPV. Loeffler said the only way to pay the fighters what they wanted was to hold it on PPV. Jacobs and Quillin got $1.5 mil each on a non-PPV card. Lee/GGG isn't PPV. Saunders has already said he ain't fighting GGG no time soon.
HBO could step up and offer more in order to invest in Golovkin. Also if the fight's in the UK, there'll be additional revenue there for it. Just look at what Golovkin's options are, HBO should be concerned. Alvarez might say no to 2016 and don't expect Haymon to allow his guys on HBO.
However I don't know if WBO will allow Golovkin to unify as long as he holds the WBC interim belt. If Saunders wins, it would be a better fight in 2017 anyways.
Agreed 100%. Lee knows his Boxing. I don't see Saunders winning, or even getting out of the 9th. Lee is a smart, hard hitting boxer!!!
Personally I find a fight between Lee and Jacobs a more interesting fight to see before Lee/Jacobs vs Golovkin. I'd rather see a unification between Canelo and Golovkin.. Lee vs Jacobs is more realistic than Canelo/GGG vs Lee/Jacobs because of Haymon. Within those two bouts though lies a great PPV fight for the unified middleweight titles; which both Haymon and De La Hoya/K2 know when big money can happen make it happen.
I can see Lee getting outboxed by Saunders just like he was vs McKewan. Saunders has a decent chin and is a smart fighter. If it's a close fight, Frank Warren will have those judges greased. Lee will need a KO.
Alvarez has never fought another fighter who weighs in at 160lbs, therefore I refuse to acknowledge him as a MW.
For me, the winner of Lee/Saunders is tied with Jacobs at the #2/#3 spot.
I'd like to see sparring sessions between Jacobs & Khytrov & Derevyanchenko. It's possible Danny's not even the best MW in his own gym.
That's the next fight. Showtime bought the Lee/Saunders fight so I'm sure they're showcasing them to set up a Jacobs vs Lee/Saunders fight.
I don't know about that. Before Showtime bought the fight, Lou DiBella worked out a deal for the fight to be on HBO. Frank Warren is the promoter of Lee/Saunders and thus owned the tv rights and so was fighting with DiBella and HBO backed out.
HBO had been in the hunt for the rights but a dispute between Lou DiBella, Lee’s American promoter, who had made a deal with HBO, and Saunders promoter, Frank Warren, over who owned the American rights killed the HBO deal.

Warren has said that Lee & K2 have been in negotiations should Lee win. So we'll see.
Lee sparks Saunders within 6. People count Lee out but dude can fight, Anyone once trained by Manny Steward RIP can scrap...

You guys going off topic and mentioning future fight, you're failing to take into account the rules/policies of the sanctioning organizations.
So here you go:
1) Jacobs is the WBA REGULAR title holder, that means he has a MANDATORY coming up against the winner of the eliminator in 2 weeks between Eubanks and osullivan.
2) other organizations only do unifications with the guy who holds THE real title. Remember how Rigo had to be stripped of the WBA super title in order to finally make quigg/framptom and other fighters who held the regular title and wanted to "unify" were stripped this year already.
3) WBA has their annual convention this month and i reached out to gilbertico and he says they will be ordering the super champ to fight the regular champ and a timeline will be set.
Assuming Alvarez vacates in 5 days and lee beats Saunders in 13 days:
lee vs golovkin saint pattys day weekend in MSG(March)
Let Jacobs face his mandatory spring 2016, winner takes on the winner of fight below.
Lee/Ggg winner take care of ibf mandatory Johnson summer 2016.
fall/winter 2016 undisputed middleweight championship fight.
Canelo shouldn't even be in the conversation until he fights at the division limit. How are people listing Lee above Jacobs when he drew with Quillin and Jacobs blasted him out in 1? The funniest is Canelo at #2 :lol1:
You best believe that when Al Haymon makes Jacobs vs the winner of Lee Saunders happen, all the GGG fans will start criticizing the fight and start calling the winner of Saunders Lee a bum, even though this is the fight they've always wanted so bad for GGG.
Honestly whoever gets the Lee vs Saunders winner (which will be Lee imo) whether it be ggg or Jacobs will be fighting no bum. Im no Ggg or Jacobs fan but if either were to win that, they will def in my eyes be the lineal mw champ despite whoever holds the ring belt.
Yeah but what about Jacobs vs Lee Saunders winner? accourding to GGG fans the winner is the 2nd best guy in the division, so why not Jacobs vs Lee Saunders winner?
Sure that fight is good too. I mentioned as much in the Jacobs thread. I said I hope there is no Quillin rematch, and Jacobs fights either Lee/Saunders, or GGG.
I like GGG, and I like unification fights. I have no reason to dislike that fight. I would love to see either Jacobs or Lee/Saunders winner fight Golovkin.
