At the time I said Haye would have wasted Fury.
I also said the only reason Fury was still relevant as a HW top contender was because he was lucky Haye pulled out.
The evidence at the time certainly overwhelmingly pointed that way.
OF course things changed.
OBviously the 40 year old Wladimir beat was way off game, 18 landed power shots all fight long. Is he shot? Did he just have a bad night?
Whatever the reason for Wlad's dismal performance, the fact remains that Fury was much better than both detractors and skeptics gave him credit for.
If not for the quality of Fury, he would not have been able to capitalise on Wladimir regardless!
So what if he had Haye? Fury appears to be much better at utilising his range and girth than given credit for. He is fast and mobile for his weight, accurate and well timed with the jab.
At a mere 6'3" and 215lbs, Haye, although possibly the fastest and most agile HW of all time and backed by crunching power to boot, the bridge that that speed had to pass would have been massive given Fury's now displayed qualities.
It would not be so easy for Haye to have got in and out on Fury as formerly predicted.
So what would have occurred?
Thoughts?
Does Haye waste the giant or does Fury do a number on an unsuspecting Haye as well?
Haye only had a punchers chance in that fight in my opinion. Fury was in excellent shape and had quality sparring with Eddie Chambers and Steve Cunningham, who had real trouble getting to Fury due his jab and his movement.
Haye couldn't do it then, and certainly can't do it now.

I know you say possibly but have you lost your mind. You ever heard of a guy named Cassius Clay, especially in 1965. That right there is most gifted, fastest and most agile heavyweight of all time. You new kids on the block gotta know your boxing.
With that said, if the lean and mobile Fury that showed up against Wlad fight Haye, Fury will win the fight the say way Wlad won against Haye. Haye won't be able to get inside with all his efforts. If the Fury that fought Cunningham shows up, the one that fights low at times, Haye will have his opportunities and that will be his best chance to land his Hayemaker.
I think back then haye would have won. Easy win for fury now.
This is a respectable opinion now.
It's possible Haye could still beat him, we dunno, but it's very real that Fury be favourite now.
Depends how good Haye looks against De Mori, we don't know what he has left but he looks in very good shape and he's said he has been training throughout.
I say If Haye beats De Mori regardless of what Fury says he will be interested in this, Haye has one of the largest followings of British boxing stars.
The Gayemaker isn't getting a world title shot based off beating some Australian biker. Get a grip.
Hey bro do you think Fury ever fights Haye?

I think he could have won, the biggest indicator for me is that Haye pulled out, I think he believed Fury had something on him, otherwise he'd have taken the millions.
A few things in favor of Fury if they fought now...
* Fury's handspeed has shown to be much quicker than previously given credit for
* Haye would not be able to clinch/hold on the inside
* Haye's power at HW is accumulative, not the one-punch power people often imagine
* Fury's chin is maybe better than given credit for, he did eat a good few flush Klitschko right hands towards the end of the fight
* Haye has been inactive, looked gassy against Chisora, whereas Fury is the younger man fighting regularly
This. Haye would've been a much easier fight for Fury than Wladimir, now or then.

Lol "injured"
Conventional wisdom says Fury would win. But certain people using the same wisdom said that about clinchko too....
Conventional wisdom was that Fury stood virtually zero chance vs Haye.
Hence the thread topic aimed toward does recent events change the perception of how things would have gone then.
Interestingly most people here think Haye will still smash him out.
I can't wait to see the Wlad rematch to see whether is was a fluke or not or a question of merely timing Wlad's decline.
I just see alot more haye can do and not much fury can do to stop it other than clinch haye.
Hilarious considering that it's Wlad's go-to move to clinch, Fury prefers a phone booth fight, landing hooks and uppercuts inside.
Haye would have flattened Fury, caught him early and knocked him down to the canvas but what would follow is a barrage of bombs that Fury would not be able to do anything about overall Haye stops him easily.
Too bad that fight never got made when it could but I think that 0 in Tyson record is a bit fake If you followed his career you'd know John McDermot was the first man to take Fury to school and that was a washed up version of John.
