From Rick Glaser's facebook page......
"Here is the Canelo - Cotto PPV figure, and it barely broke 650,000 PPV buys!!! I know a certain writer reported a 900,000 PPV buy figure, the same reporter that wrote that GGG - Lemieux broke 150,000 buys, when in fact that fight in actuality did 97,000 buys. Who is feeding the writer tainted info, but lots of great food!!!"
cant wait for the hate squad to show up and discredit these numbers.
but but but but 97k doe
(FYI, I still believe the 900k+ number, but this still is going to be alot of fun)
Gotta give credit to Kevin Iole for going against the grain given the mainstream position he's in.
Per Mark Taffet at @hboboxing Canelo-Cotto fight did 900k on PPV. I had heard from numerous folks 625-650, but he's putting his name on it— Kevin Iole (@KevinI) December 3, 2015
Rick Glaser is reporting GGG vs Lemeiux did 97K buys. And Cotto vs Canelo did 650K buys. Staying strong that @danrafaelespn is wrong.— Boxing Kingdom (@BoxingKingdom14) December 2, 2015
@danrafaelespn When you have ONE and only one source on that topic and you do nothing but parrot that source, don't crap on others my man— Kevin Iole (@KevinI) December 3, 2015
EDIT: Even motherfucking Floyd Hype, is saying the same.
@tooezzzy Prior to today, Iole, myself, and others all heard from independent sources between 600-700K. I think that's more likely.— FIGHTHYPE.COM (@fighthype) December 3, 2015
lol Espinoza is saying 725k. We are in 2015 ffs how this is possible?
Even motherfucking Floyd Hype, is saying the same.

Oh ok I'm with you now.
But that's the same Glaser who's reporting all these other numbers.
Rick Glaser his name is, he reported 400k for Floyd-Berto, 650 k for Canelo-Cotto and 100 k for Golovkin-Lemieux.
yeah, that guy strikes me as a hack. i do know who you are talking about.
a lot of the "middle rung" of boxing media, if you even want to call them that, seem to have this vendetta against pay per view. no joke. it's almost like they're pissed that they have to pay for fights :lol1:
i see them complaining constantly on social media, and always quick to discredit buys, the quality of the fights after they happen or before the card, etc.
odd look. i know it doens't pay well. i'll give them that :lol1:
there are two glazers. jay glazer is one of the more respected reporters in american sports. i generally have no idea who the other guy is outside of references on this website. but by all accounts he's been way off with ppv nnumbers.

I'm not sure if New England is aware that it's Glaser who reported the 97k?
Or is there a different Glaser?
I can't keep up :lol1:

I'm confused.
Wasn't it Glaser that reported the 97k for the Golovkin fight?
i confused him with another reporter named glazer who works for fox. my mistake.
I remember a couple years ago Glaser said the Feds were investigating Al Haymon. And had our mentally-challenged posters like Sterling Archer believing Haymon was really a dope dealer washing his money through boxing.
You can't make this stuff up :lol1:
:lol1::lol1::lol1:
I'd actually forgotten about that. All these imaginary "investigations"...

Mid price? It was a full blown PPV price at $60, wasn't it?
Well obviously that model is going to drown boxing if it is done with guys who can't sell PPV's. I much rather have Al Haymon's way, PBC, putting GGG-Lemiuex caliber fights on Television and readily available via antenna and basic TV. I feel like the bad guy complaining about the PPV, and praising PBC. It's how some of the posters make you feel, when in fact what Haymon is doing putting cards of good caliber on basic TV and over the air channels is a great thing for the sport. That crap like GGG v Lemiuex on PPV, that's terrible for boxing, if you say otherwise I can't think of you as anything else but other than just a fan of one fighter. The fighters get paid, but nobody watches the fight (relatively nobody). If we are talking about HBO/Showtime don' have th budget to pay Canelo vs Cotto, and it has to be on PPV, obviously that's no issue, 100's of thousands of people will happily pay for those types of events. But as far as GGG vs Lemiuex and other crappy PPV's, it's not about who can afford it or who can't it's the principle of the subject. I'm a huge Floyd fan and did not purchase Mayweather vs Berto, I could afford it, I just didn't want to support it. It's not like i'm picking and choosing, I don't support any PPV mismatch, even those of my favorite fighters. I can be in a position where I can wipe my a$$ with an $100 dollar bill and I still wouldn't purchase any of these mismatches. That's a lame thing, to just buy things cause you can, that's plain.
I see, so just because YOU might not want to buy something, then it shouldnt be available to anyone else who might want to buy it? Perhaps a "free" country isnt the best place for you. Perhaps a place where all your options are decided by others, and you are not free to make your own choices might fit better with your philosophy.
I may think its retarded for anyone to buy an Aventador for a half million bucks. But I certainly wouldnt advocate for them to be removed from the marketplace just because I wasn't interested. I also laugh at alot of the garbage people buy on itunes. But I dont want those choices removed for them either. The marketplace is ALWAYS the best judge.......
When that 97k came out, the same cheerleaders who were rejoicing at his tweets from the past 3 years of Floyd fights all of a sudden want to act rational and start questioning Glaser's credibility like wait a minute where he got that 97k from? Who's his source?
I'm just going along with it. Sure Mayweather-Berto did 396k, sure Canelo-Cotto did 650k, sure GGG-Lemiuex did 97k. Let's use Glaser then, i'm down. You wanna use Glaser, let's use Glaser :lol1:

why is it a problem? Its actually the perfect type of fight for a mid-priced PPV. And Im not talking about what fighters were in it. Im speaking generally about the kind of fights where the network either doesnt have the budget, or doesnt have the interest in doing the fight. So either the fight never happens, or they take their chances and put it on ppv. The individual consumer makes their choice, instead of a network guy killing the fight.
Those that want to see it can buy it. If they cant afford it they can stream it. And if they dont give a sh*t one way or the other they can ignore it.
Im not sure why anyone would prefer fewer choices?

Heres how you look at Glaser's numbers here on NSB...
If he gives a low ppv number to a fighter you dislike, then he's an industry insider with great sources and isnt a network stooge like Rafael or Iole.
If he gives a low ppv number to a fighter you like, then he's simply a hack, ex DKP flunkie who makes up numbers in his moms basement.
And some posters here even use both descriptions, depending which fight they are talking about lol
